would this be the place to talk about WotR? this seems to be Grand Strategy central in here.

I've seen most of that talk taking place in the mount and blade thread, since they're so similiar

God, no matter how hard I try, I can never get into EU3. The few times I don't fail miserably usually end with me being massively bored and just waiting for a certain time to pass just so I can do stuff again. It feels like half the game is waiting. You wait to gain cores on captured provinces, you wait to have infamy go down, you wait until you have enough money for another war, you wait for the troops to move from province to province. Christ, it could just be "[I]Waiting Simulator: The Game[/I]". At least Vicky2 and HoI2 gave me something to do while I waited. Vicky2 had the economic management and HoI2 always had interesting things happening in the war, so there was never much of a moment for rest. Plus, it doesn't help I suck at the game (or maybe the game itself sucks, I don't know. Everyone says it's great, but as I have said before, trade is monumentally fucked in the ass) and I almost always fail. Whether it is I lose what should be an easy war, or my economy collapses for the 3rd time that week, or massive rebellions from conquered provinces or other religions, there is always some disaster to impede me.

The computer I'm on can't play games very well at all, so I personally found it quite helpful. I recently had quite an interesting time playing with the Swords of Islam expansion for Crusader Kings 2 that I had to share with some people because it was quite the revenge story. After creating the Torli dynasty in Muslim Valancia the game escalated quite rapidly so I wrote a blog post about it. I didnt't post it here to avoid cluttering the thread (as there are a few pictures) so if you guys want to read it the link is here [url]http://stethor.blogspot.co.uk/[/url] . The details may be a bit sketchy at some points but thats due to me forgetting as it was a week or so ago.

If only CK2 had a 2D map mode... I can't run it worth shit, 1frame a minute goddamnit, and I can run Vicky2 and Eu3 just fiiine.

The fun part is painting the world. It's incredibly satisfying to watch the eastern edge of the Americas come into your possession, even though those provinces are mostly worthless. It's also incredibly satisfying to unite Germany, the HRE, Russia, Prussia, Italy, India, etc. The game is driven by goals, not by flashy game mechanics.

It shouldn't be too hard if you could get the Hordes off your back and become the dominant Russians. You may want to raise taxes a good bit to keep a high amount of soldiers to fuel your early war, but if you can expand quickly enough, you should be able to catch up). I thought it was fun to play as Russia, at least. Quickly got incredibly powerful, though.

There's a huge sense of satisfaction when you actually build an empire from such small states often 100s of years before they actually existed.

CK2 has a demo that you could have played to see if you like the game/if it works, so if you seriously pirate, you should already be banned for WareZ.

After a year of getting Europa 3, my second game has finally ended. Only mods used was the end-game mod, which makes the game end at year 9999 instead of 1821.. I had just gained enough troops to invade Russia, and actually won, afterwords, my infamy went up by a million, and my stability went to -3.
