I've been having fun my first few days with HoI3 by playing fallen France and just building an underground network spanning all of occupied France and then letting that shit loose mid-1944. Then all my Partisans get swamped by masses of German/Italian armor and fucking diiiiee. I did hold a chokepoint near the border of Spain, which gave Allied forces a sizable landing zone to spread out and take France from. As a bonus, about a third of German troops in France were mopping up my Partisans around Alsace-Lorraine, so France was a pretty easy, if late, win. I love how you can just make a general and put him in "I can't war, please do it for me" mode. It makes everything a lot easier for a tactical retard like me.
As partisans you should be really careful about what you do and when. Try setting yourself up to initiate uprisings near fortified, VP-filled, and preferably coastal areas if you have an ally that can make a naval invasion. You must also be careful about your organization and strength; lots of units don't mean shit when the Gemans got their org maxed out, while you're playing as unorganized militia. You can also draw attention from the real targets by making multiple uprising waves. Start off in some low priority locations and while the Germans are too busy stacking in West or South France set off uprisings in North France, particularly around Paris, Normandy and the Maginot Line. If you're playing multiplayer it can also be of big advantage to your buddy, since that means that they can stage a flawless invasion through occupied territory without enemy doom stacks cockblocking them wherever they go. Can't say that the same can happen in SP, but you can at least kind of liberate your country while doing so.
In HoI3, has anyone actually made it as Germany or Japan into the American mainland? I've seen people make it into Canada as Germany, but they got beaten back to the west by the time a second wave showed up.
Yeah I've made it into the U.S. main numerous times as Germany. Latest I started off with a nuke to Washington D.C., then invaded it with paratroopers followed by marines while hitting Florida with marines also. After that just got my Elite units from the recently victorious Eastern front and the U.S. forces were no match.
It's even easier when the US transports it's entire military force to the Pacific and forgets to bring them back during the invasion.
I just got done saving my game I was playing. Playing as the UK, 1936. I'm trying to get as many Democratic nations as I can into the Allies, starting with Europe. Euro list: Luxembourg Netherlands France Czechoslovakia Sweden Norway Denmark Ireland Greece Switzerland Poland After that, Austria was absorbed by Germany, and Japan soon joined the Axis. I then turned to my former colonies, and the US. After a quick bout of almost losing South Africa to the Axis, I managed to compile a larger list. Americas/Pacific/Africa List: USA Canada Phillipines Australia New Zealand South Africa Mexico (barely) Guatemala Honduras El-Salvador Brazil The year turned to 1937, and Japan invaded China, while Italy became a member of the Axis powers. The amount of Allies was amazing, and I knew I was set for the fight. It's 1939 now, early august. The storm rises.
In TFH the US is invasion happy, the conquered Japan without dropping a nuke in 44, they invaded Southern France (and annexed Vichy France), Yugoslavia, Northern Netherlands and Denmark. They tried to land in northern France a couple times but that didn't last long. Only the Yugoslavia and Southern France invasions held up. But they're loosing in Southern France, and Japanese troops from China are taking back mainland Japan. [editline]28th September 2012[/editline] Hmm, i guess I was wrong with them loosing in Southern France, one minute they only have coastal provinces and those borders Spain, next minute they've liberated 2/3s of France. [editline]28th September 2012[/editline] woah, I'm not sure what happened, but Germany suddenly surrendered to the US, they were not that far into Central Germany, i don't even think they took Berlin, if they did I missed it. [editline]28th September 2012[/editline] Brits just dropped the first nuke in the war, on Helsinki, in 1947 [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/578968432153769230/60F00096114C502D783A62DD4727760CAE181DDB/[/t]
tuskin the fuck is up with your game what
tuskin the fuck is up with your game what
The AI is up, I didn't touch anything, I just started the game at 1939 and watched.
i gotta do that some time, i never really actually watched a game do you turn on the fog remove cheat?
i gotta do that some time, i never really actually watched a game do you turn on the fog remove cheat?
Yes, AFAIK unlike some of the other games, removing fog for yourself doesn't remove it for the AI. I suggest Cuba if you want to watch, no-one will bother you. Weird, though. HOI3s Scenario ends in 48, but they have ministers up to the 60s in the files.

I couldn't advance any further, the save corrupted because of Germany declaring war on a Axis Poland.
I decided to play around with the showprovinceid and changeowner commands in Victoria 2. Just a normal day in the Americas
remove time limit
I know I did that, but I was wondering why they had 60s ministers if the game doesn't go that far by default.
I know I did that, but I was wondering why they had 60s ministers if the game doesn't go that far by default.
I believe that HoI2 went up to 1964, so maybe they were planning something similar for HoI3 and saw no reason not to put some of the files in now.

I ended up playing that save and me and the CSA brought down the USA. And then I became the 4th greatest power in the world. :v: [sp]I used some cheats[/sp]

So in my France game the Soviet Union took all of Germany and Italy, all of the eastern European countries present before the war, and pretty much controls Scandinavia, while the Allies pretty much have everywhere else. The world is at peace, but I have about 8 fully stocked armies and I want to try them out. However, the "Declare War" button on the Soviet Union is grayed out. I recall it being select-able in about November 1945; a month or so after the Axis fell. What are the requisites for declaring war on the Soviet Union as France after the end of WW2?
I know I did that, but I was wondering why they had 60s ministers if the game doesn't go that far by default.
in my game (playing as cuba as you said) germany encircled 3/4 of soviet russias forces and they basically have no army to stop germany so now all they have to do is bum rush the victory points, the way this happened is romania isnt an axis member so soviets believed that the less armies there the more they can defend the north/center but germany got around them and encircled russias forces from romania to behind the soviets forces and were pushed back to either estonia/finland.
How's Vicky compared to CKII? It looks really fun.
Vicky 2 is more a social and Economic simulator than a family one. Can't really compare them. But if you like managing a countries political and economic aspects then you'll love Vic2.
And it's even better if you like to bully the fuck out of weak Great Powers for attacking you before while choking three different uprisings taking place all over your country at the same time.
I'll check it out. Sounds nice.
You should consider getting A House Divided as it pretty much fixes Vicky2's economy. In vanilla the Laissez Faire policy will see retarded capitalists destroy your economy from the inside out by building nothing but useless factories that no one needs, although this might have been patched. AHD also makes playing as either the United States or the CSA much more interesting.

But seriously, what is "Showprovinceid" or whatever, it's not working when I try it. Is it AHD only?
If its not working I'd assume its AHD only. All it does is show the province ids in your tooltip.
