Looking forward to playing this game, definitely gonna play my first game as Israel. Not only because it's where I live, but because they had some really interesting stuff going on around that time and trying to survive multiple wars against 3-5 neighbors every few years sounds challenging and fun as hell.

What's wrong with Clausewitz engine?
I am going to nuke the shit out of myself, I know it.
I BEG YOU PARDON?
The game was micromanaged to shit from what HOI2 was. There were very few events, the surrender bar thing was so broken, the diplomacy system stopped you from randomly declaring war (the thing was so fun about HOI2), the technology system was really dull and uninvolving and was really imbalanced toward powerful nations. The game was buggy as shit.
Also graphics packs, music and expansion packs that did nothing important yet for some reason cost a shitload.
What's wrong with Clausewitz engine?
It runs games that often require many many calculations to be run all at once on a global scale and they decide that it should only use 1 cpu core, so the whole game has terrible fps after a couple years in, the graphics aren't all that nice.
the graphics aren't all that nice.
Are you seriously concerned about graphics in a Global-Scale RTS?

Because I never had any of these problems Semper Fi onwards.

Graphic packs and music dlcs are purely cosmetic, I hope you're smart enough to realize this. No one is forcing you to buy them either.
I do agree with the game starting to run pretty slow after a few years.

Try looking at a savegame from the start of the game towards the end, it's pretty funny how much the filesize climbs.
hoi 3 TFH just crashes for me.
ugh. damn
Anyone got mod reccomendations for FTM? i'd only tried modern day
I'm honestly afraid to look at the savegame folder for ck2, considering how I run 2 mods and constantly start new games.

The devs of East Vs. West have confirmed that it will use more then one core.
So...Italy used to be ruled by Ancient Americans.

I think I might start a game as Armenia in CK2, push into Georgia and hold off the Kebab for the world.
Should I stay with Rome or try to take them on as an independent ruler? I know they won't help much because they're retarded but the prestige of Rome is something.

Hmm, I notice that the Canadian flag in the final shot is not correct for that year, we didn't adept that until the '65.
Step One: Play as USSR and nuke West Berlin
Step Two: TAG to Guatemala and hide
I like the Vick2/Hoi3 mashup of it, very nice.
It kinda reminds me of Supreme Ruler though, I never could get into it because managing the economy was victoria 2 on huge doses of steroids.

How can a character have such good traits and then get screwed with a bad profession?
So I'm a huge fan of CK2 and I can say I'm pretty confident at playing it and so I thought HOI3 would be a decent purchase since it was only around £6 on the sale but its really difficult for me to get into, I can sort of understand the basics...any tips?
The wiki is generally a good place to start at.

I suggest you play Poland for your first game, it'll teach you, fast...
The profession skills in ck2 generally depend on the mentor, and theres like a diceroll system for them, I think. The mentors skill guarantees that the profession is in that field, and theres a higher chance of a better skill if the mentor has a specific skill. A brilliant tactician can still mentor a person into a confused warrior with extremely good stats.

I don't think so. It is definitely dependant on the skill of the mentor but it doesn't have to be in that field. I was save scumming for one of my characters and somehow managed to get a high level military profession from a steward tutor, then it gave me a steward profession on another try.
It's somewhat random and is decided when they come of age rather than before, but skill and profession type can influence it.

My ruler is Midas Touched and the son (who in the picture is fully grown) got Midas Touched. The daughter got Indulgent Wastrel and then the second daughter got Brilliant Tactician. Keep in mind I educated all 3 of them. It seems pretty random what they get.
Looking at the screenshots for EvW, it looks rather good already.
Finally, they've added region names that aren't their smaller parts.

I've had a game where I focused on Diplomacy so most of my wives were Grey Eminences and as I recall about 75% of my children ended up the same.
I had a playthrough of Hearts of Iron as Greece. I made the grave mistake of conquering Yugoslavia and got my ass handed to me by Germany. Maybe next time I will take over Turkey :v:
