Agh, Yugoslav mountains are a total nightmare to fight in. My manpower reserve drained really fast as Turkey by the time I managed to conquer them.
[sp]I cheated and gave myself a small boost in manpower since I had 0 mp left by the time it was over.[/sp]

Crusader Kings II will be on Steam's release on Linux.
One of the East vs. West devs jokingly said that after WW3 you'll be playing CKII.
But in all serious they've yet to figure out how to model the world after a full nuke exchange. If it would be an Auto game over, or something else.

It could combine EU3 and HoI3, where your government goes into exile under your capital, the entire country is occupied by pretty much natives like in EU3 and you pretty much have to build and send out troops to establish a preliminary government like underground resistances in HoI3. At the same time new, small, fictional nations gain cores on various parts of the country and some natives would start becoming nationalists, so after a while civilization would come back anyway. It would be awesome to have 4 nations fighting over France and then suddenly have a united Italy come in and fuck everybody up.
But I'm really thinking about Fallout with all this, and that kind of world is not very likely to happen.

Something that might be effective as a game over after nuclear exchange, would be a showing a DEFCON style map, very quite, almost no sound, with lines being drawn from the players country to the target's, and of course the retaliation. Then a slow fade to black, and the score page comes up.

Have underground resistances, various unhappy population rebels, and a stat like national unity to represent if your government can hold together. Relinquishing certain parts may increase your hold on power but sends them into anarchy or possibly hostile states. If you cannot hold together and your government completely falls, you lose.
It would mean that in a nuclear, you have to try and keep control over your country and your government. Building bunkers for your state officials, going into exile, trying to keep things under control while also trying to fight a war. If you get a lucky hit and knock out the enemies central government with the first few strikes, they descend into chaos with independent rebel states popping up everywhere and as long as you can keep your own shit together, the only trouble is from smaller powers with access to the old nukes doing the same to you. It'd be marvellous.
The concept of fictional nations sounds like a pain to code into the game. Then again I'm not a modder so I wouldn't have a clue what I'm talking about.

Puttiing lots and lots of tags in isn't hard, good chance the unruly wasteland would be blobbed under a horde that doesn't go to war, maybe like Barbarians in EU:Rome.

Heh.
Kinda worried about manpower though.
Aw man, I wish i could find someone to do HoI3 MP with :C

Anyone ever played this Fallout 3 mod for darkest hour?
It was pretty cool to start as the pre war US government and try to reunite to US. It also gave you the choice of either retrieving pre-war techs or researching new wasteland adapted techs.
Also graphically it was very polished compared to most other mods.

I mean, I could probably get a few FPers to play.
But how the hell do you. Connecting to an MP server is ridiculously complicated.
Hamatchi is easy with Paradox games.
Vicky 2 mp is fucking dumb. There's no master time and the game slows down and stops if you are on a different scale than your opponent.

I have no idea how it works. I've never played MP on a paradox game before.

Who the fuck thought that was a good idea?
Like, my friend and I were playing and we tried syncing it up, but were always like 3 days apart and it would be like UNSYNCED CANT COMPUTE.
I have no idea why they couldn't just do it like EU3. Eu3's mp is awesome if there's teamwork and shit.
[editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
After vicky 2 was being shit, same friend and I played a game where I was Austria, and he was Naples and we basically just united Italy and he helped me expand in Europe in exchange for putting down Northern Italy.

Aside from MP, Vicky 2 is my second favorite paradox game, first being CK2 since it's so delightfully rewarding/crushing depending on your choices. Shit comes back to haunt you if it's found out and I love that.
I was playing Vicky 2 with the Svoboda i Rabstvo mod as Russia and I became USSR after a while.
Then 60% of my population became slaves.
What's EvW that I hear about.
War in Europe eh? The French and our British brethren need our help eh? Brave Canada shall come to the rescue. We need all the men and maple syrup we can spare.

East versus West. Imagine it as HoI3, spanning the cold war.
East vs West is the after result of HoI3 and Vick2 having a night of rough sex together.
I hope as Canada I can build the Avro Arrow in EvW.

How in the holy dicks its possible to get that many infantry divisions with the manpower limitations of that game?

It looks like a couple of skyscrapers!
I've always wondered if that was possible in a HOI game...
How in the holy dicks its possible to get that many infantry divisions with the manpower limitations of that game?
I have no idea, but either way, the Germans decided to doomstack. They had over 400 divisions at one point in the game. Then the US came into the conflict and bombed them all to hell. The UK piddled around in North Africa for a while, and we joined them. Then we invaded Italy together. The Americans came down from Northern Italy and helped us annihilate the Gustav Line. Then we invaded Danzig and helped to occupy half of Poland. The Americans took Berlin, Vienna, and Prague then occupied the other half of Poland.
Then they started liberating the shit out of nations after they annexed Germany- so Europe is a bit of a clusterfuck today.

And Germany's manpower reserves must be pretty well depleted, because they lost over 12.6 million men in the war. Hopefully we won't have to worry about them again. We lost just over 300,000.

Oh and we're about ready to go to war with Russia, Brazil, Iran, and Japan. Germany somehow couped all four of them and made them into would-be National Socialists. Once we take them down, the world shall finally be free of Fascism.
Then we'll go after Communism...
It never ends this shit.

Darkest Hour with its latest update can rape your mind at times. Doomstacks never used to be a problem for me, but now the game has gotten REALLY challenging. A good kind of challenging, but challenging nonetheless.

Well, fly some planes into them, then.
I would love to see Armageddon remade into a HoI3 mod.

What happened to Soviet Union and Japan? They did not loose a lot of men, especially Japan with their 1 610 losses.
What happened to Soviet Union and Japan? They did not loose a lot of men, especially Japan with their 1 610 losses.
The Khalkhin Gol Battles event triggered between the two of them and they took extremely minor personnel losses. Japan never invaded China for some reason, otherwise their losses would have been much more severe. Then the Soviets invaded Poland (which accounts for the bulk of their losses) with the Germans and had their government changed when the Germans launched a successful coup against them after annexing Poland.
The Germans were going coup crazy for a while and then they started pulling assassinations. They killed J. Edgar Hoover and tried to kill Albert Einstein (the Swiss Minister of Armaments) but failed. They also killed Neville Chamberlain when he was serving as the UK's Minister of Armaments (so he never did get to serve as PM) and the British decided to replace him with Oswald Mosley.:v:
