Anyone play the Profane and Thane Mod? They have these revolts, where not necessarily armies pop up, but people revolt and destroy buildings within your cities/castles.
Anyway to stop these revolts (other than the event where they ask for lower taxes, or putting councillers there?)
Oh shit if i marry my first daughter to the King of normay and get a child with him. I could kill all the other possible rulers and get claims on Norwegian land :v:

Also make sure the King's court is not huge, the amount of folks he has at his court impacts how many kinds you can pop out.
You usually get a pop up option when you can create new duchies or usurp them.

Apparently the 30 court limit only affects courtier fertility, whereas you will never get a penalty because your court is large

I get that. I'm asking if there's any way I can just cheat and force convert my ruler
Is anyone else having problems with Hearts of Iron 3: Their Finest Hour's language settings, I'm trying to change it from English to another language but it won't work.
Even if I go into settings.txt and manually change it, it will always start in English.
I think the most natural and realistic way of doing it would be to make razing an option that any army can do while passing through a province. It should basically start a battle against a rebel army the size of the adult male population of said region, where the rebels are minimum strength and morale, unless other conditions would cause otherwise.
It would also do to make slaughtering the common folk effect the generals or leaders who do it. If an army moves into a province and slaughters the population there should be a decent chance either of the general refusing, the other lords lowering their opinions of you for ordering it.
Magnate Lords was a mod that did this to great extent. It allowed you to loot and destroy buildings in holdings and forcefully convert heretic provinces through aggressive means that way.
Such a shame there's been been no word whatsoever for updating to 1.07/1.08.

Finally Victoria II: AHD is on offer on steam :D
So I ordered my daughter's husband murdered through plots so I could remarry her to someone more fertile. Not only did I immediately get an event where it asks if I want to respect his wishes (he made me promise to scatter his ashes or something), but I also get the option to imprison my co-conspirator who carried out the murder.
My son became Emperor of the Byzantines via succession (his grandmother was the Empress.) I almost shat myself, this is what I'd been wanting! For so, so long! The bastard still won't convert to Orthodoxy, so after a few months in game he was overthrown by all the Orthodox vassals. areyoufuckingkiddingme.jpg

I tend to go max taxes for both cities and churchs but with min levies for both.
I keep the feudal ones the same.
Free investiture and high crown authority if I can.
Not sure its the best way but money>levies every time

Short blerb on the game

Half way down the page. extends into page 3.
According to that, at this point in development, no nuclear winter.
How over it says
East Versus West‘s countries are going to be restarting politically and economically if the nuclear arsenals of the NATO and Warsaw Pact are employed to their fullest extent.

Short blerb on the game

Half way down the page.
Third page has some interesting info.
Embargoes are in the game. Embargoes tend to increase prices because of decreased supply of consumer goods. They can also negatively impact the development of your country.
Techs are very interdependent. Tech A might need tech B for Level 2, but might need entirely different tech for Level 3. To avoid micromanagement hell, the AI can be given research goals (i.e. research main battle tanks) and it will get all pre-requisites taken care of for you.
Rebels and insurgents can be supported by foreign countries, and the rebels remember who backed them. Rebels also spread their influence as they are successful, and they rise up in unison. If you declare war on a country whose rebels you support, they join your side.
Spies are a mini-game. You “buy” spy cards with specific capabilities and skills. The agents are sent on missions. Spies can succeed, fail (and die), or be turned into double agents and work for your enemy.
Politics has both policies and laws. Changing laws has a lasting impact on your government form, while policies can be changed easily as needed. Certain leaders have specific policy agendas, and if your country elects or appoints a ruler that favors a certain policy, then that policy might get locked out, preventing you from changing it.
Detection is king in naval warfare. You can’t shoot at something you can’t detect, even if they’re shooting at you. Naval combat ranges might be two or more sea provinces away, especially for those who love their guided missiles.
The land AI can be told to attack along specific vectors. I watched the AI receive orders to invade Finland and encircle the Finnish army.
All army units have manpower, organization and equipment levels. Equipment and manpower are completely separate, and equipment can be given to allies for their use. Proxy wars are a real possibility with this system.

The map has 50 percent more provinces than Hearts of Iron 3. Most of these are in Africa and Asia so that the US and Soviets have some nice places to fight proxy wars.
Modders will be very happy. Spy cards and satellites can be scripted with actions used in any game event. And communities can be easily modded in.
Most interesting moment: Drawing battle plans on the map and watching the AI execute them.
You can make battle plans and have the AI follow them

Looks like the end date is sometime in 1991, not at 1991, because the Gulf War is listed as a scenario.
Maybe they changed the end date to 2000?

Usually I bump city taxation up to large and fuedal taxation to small at least (depending on how diplomatic my ruler is). The bump in city taxation is a very noticeable boost in income, whilst keeping the burghers seldomly asking for compensation and still having enough to upgrade their holdings. Fuedal taxation must be more than none because otherwise all your vassals are giving, effectively, 0.
[editline]23rd November 2012[/editline]
You can turn city levies down to make up for lost relations (Though generally the only negative modifier they have is tax rate), if you depend mostly on retinues, since they're affected by max manpower not levies.
