So I just got my copy of Vicky 2 from that Amazon sale (Thanks Ghetto)
Are mod folders still broken? I extracted the zip into its own folder in the mod folder, but it's not showing up as a mod.
Well it shows up now, but I guess Victoria Fantasia is missing a file.
Observer mode on CK2. Half of the friggin' world falls apart, England takes a large portion of Spain, than implodes. France gets split in two by the Portuguese and the English. The Holy Roman Empire collapses, a ton of duchies revolt. Teutonic Order chased into Finland by the Swedish, the Order converts to Orthodoxy, and is crushed by the Norwegians.
The mongols appear and blaze through eastern Europe, and are expanding wildly since all of the powerful nations are split up.
And then the Aztecs arrive, and are wading through the west.
Smackdown in central europe is assured.

Just played a little bit this morning.
The Aztecs have totally conquered Scotland, and have a firm grip on 2 northern regions in Spain. However, England re-formed and is fighting the Aztecs pretty hard. They have lost severely in Spain and France, as the duchies sort of united temporarily to combat the Aztecs. They're trying to fight the Muslims in Spain but aren’t faring well.
The Holy Roman Empire has reformed, and is braced for a big war. Sweden and Norway are still tumbling around with duchies and vassals revolting. Rus is the only nation that appears to be stable, though they are now at war with the Mongols.
The Mongols are expanding hilariously fast, and have gone to war with the Ilkhanate. However, they also invaded Novgorod, who is allied with Rus. If the Horde can’t win against Rus, they’re doomed.
At the moment I have no clue who’s going to make it out alive. I’ll end the game at 1400, and provide a screen then.

Impossibru. I could do it, but then, like Austro-Hungary in Vicky 2, Poland and Lithuania can become independent from the P-L.
Could you add in the Verenigd Koninkrijk der Nederlanden? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_of_the_Netherlands)
I always found that just having "the Netherlands" is a bit lacking. Perhaps rename "The Netherlands" as "The Seven Provinces" to make the distinction clearer between the two.
If there'd be some way to change the name depending on how much territory the country holds, that'd be awesome as well. "The X united provinces" instead of just "The Netherlands", capping at 17 or so.
[editline]25th November 2012[/editline]
Ohh, you mean rename the country of Poland to "Poland-Lithuanian commonwealth" once Poland absorbs Lithuania.
I'm Dutch, and 'United Kingdom Of The Netherlands' is too long. You can't change names like Vicky 2.
I could do a release now (which I'll probably release tomorrow knowing differences in time) of what I have. Mostly new nations and modifiers are added, with the Form Greece decision not working yet.

Finish it and make it a Grand Campaign (CK2 > EU3 > V2 > HOI3).

China's a big deal even when they haven't modernised, so you might want to look at securing Korea first.

If you can get China's doomstacks to ATTACK you though... goddamn, that slaughter.

To what? Poland-Lithuanua can't be done for the simple reason that unions in Paradox don't work.

Make Lithuania independent if played from the start, and leave as it is.
Hey KoningWilders, two things.
1) I assume it's for the latest version of the latest EU3 expansion?
2) Gonna do anything about colonizing? I haven't looked into the modding scene (at all), but my inability to uniformly claim swathes of areas is real annoying to me.
Sorry if this is redundant, I didn't see a feature list anywhere

1). 5.2 latest beta
2). Elaborate. There's a feature list in the download. But I'm nice:
- Hawaii is the primary nation of the Polynesian culture
- Leonese added as a culture, in the Iberian culture group
- Leon is the primary nation of the Leonese culture
- Dutch is now its own culture group, with Netherlands as it union. It includes Flemish, Dutch and Frisian. In cultures.txt, the culture group is called 'nederlands', that's Dutch in Dutch, to prevent confusion.
- All provinces (except Galicia) in the Leon region have their culture changed to 'Leonese'
- Fryslan now has its culture changed to Frisian
- Calvinism and Lutheranism instead of Reformed and Protestant.
- Ruler titles ('king' 'emperor' etc) are sometimes translated into the primary culture/religious language that fits it, like 'Maharaja'.
- Added 'Wolf Tooth' as an heretic for the Shamanism religion (basicly, because I didn't like that there was only one).
- 2 more technology groups: Byzantine (1.1x) and Post-Native (for Fusang and Vinland)
- Gheghisid as an Altaic dynasty name
- Old Norse culture in the Scandinavian culture group (Vinland) and Norse Paganism as a new religion (Vinland)
- Controlling Rome or Constantinople now gives a bonus (Rome's bonus stacks with the non-catholic control bonus), alike to controlling Jerusalem or Mecca.
- * Old religions, such as the Hellenistic group(Egyptian, Roman, Greek) and Druidism (in the Pagan group) can now rise when stability is low and be converted to.
- A new government type, Military Order
- Steppe Horders can now become tribal nations
- * Iberian empires of Hispania (Christian Iberia) and Al-Andalus (Muslim Iberia) (Formable)
- Republic of Iceland (Administrative Republic, releasable)
- Kingdom of Hawaii (Tribal Despotism) (only need to add discovered provinces)
- Kingdom of Leon (Feudal Monarchy, releasable)
- Kingdom of Macedonia (Feudal Monarchy, releasable)
- * Patriachates of Constantinople, Rome, Antioch, Jerusalem and Alexandria (All releasable, except Rome and Jerusalem {which are events, Jerusalem is the Orthodox equivelant of KOJ} )
- * Vinland; a Tribal nation in Canada (Tribal Despotism, Vinland_Native), and their cores change into the owners cores (if owner is scandinavian), later a colony-nation (like the USA) can revolt (Vinland_Colony)
- * Fusang; Like Vinland, first a Tribal Despotism (Fusang_Native), cores are lost if the owner is has a chinese culture, later a revolter colony-nation (Fusang_Colony)
- * ROME NEVER DIES
- Korea renamed 'Joseon'
- Germany can only be formed if the Holy Roman Empire is not formed
- Friesland now has its primary culture changed to Frisian.
- Scandinavia renamed 'Kalmar Union' (personal preference)
- * You can now form Greece if Byzantium is dead, and you're greek.
- The Mameluks is now a sultanate.
- The Teutonic Order and The Knights are now Military Orders
everything with * is not done yet
I have no idea how to elaborate. I don't know what I want, except for some sort of change in the colonization system. :(
All of those features sound pretty good. I find EU3 not realistic enough for my taste, I only play magna mundi which makes the game much more realistic. Do you think it could be possible to add all of those features in your mod into the magna mundi mod? That would make for a much more realistic experience. Other than that, great job!
Also, a two questions on HoI3:
1 how would I go about transporting a large group of units across a big distance, and maybe even a large body of water between them and the target, without too much clicking? Go example transporting an army as the USA to a friendly European country, or as Italy transporting your army in Africa to Europe after winning the war against Ethiopia.
Second, does anyone here play on a later start in HoI? I really dislike not starting from the earliest possible date in a paradox game, but in HoI3 there's just not enough action in the first 2-3 years, unless you're Spain, Japan, China, USSR or Finland. Which makes for a very boring experience, what do you guys think?
China's a big deal even when they haven't modernised, so you might want to look at securing Korea first.
Not true, they're a cakewalk if you modernized well before they do.
Repost because relevant.

PSA of the day: CK2 saves are fucking huge. I've clocked a lot of hours the last 3 or so weeks and had 55GB in there.
Mine is only 9 gigs. The game deletes autosaves, and I find that I can't really go back to a save if I try something else.
[editline]26th November 2012[/editline]
In a game I'm playing as Bohemia, Scotland is like fucking Genoa.
I mean distant lands and such.
They took over Britanny, and northwest spain. The northwest part could be attributed to it being controlled by the Muslims, but whatever.
Aragon is also out of control with power, they own basically all of spain, besides portugal.
[editline]26th November 2012[/editline]
The only mods I'm using are the Arko armories pack, and the somewhat more historical map. I also have a mod that makes it so you can make an empire if you have two kingdom titles, instead of being forced to stand by the games limits.
Dual Monarchy empire and such.
I was getting a heap of crashes before, turns out the endless saves needed to be deleted.
They really shouldn't get that big though, there may be a glitch where it keeps putting endless junk text at the end of the save file.

Nope. Saving every character's traits and shit is just a HUGE amount of text.
Now, as there are some sweet deals out there right about now, I might finally get CK2...
What DLC is recommended by y'all? Sword of Islam and Legacy of Rome only?
Every dlc but the shield packs. Just get a shield mod.
Every dlc but the shield packs. Just get a shield mod.
Well, are those two the only gameplay ones? I don't feel like throwing down any money, even if it is chump change, on African clothing and such. Oh and I don't want the Aztec Invasion. Too silly for my tastes.
Welp, I've done it. Remember how old King Ludwig was struggling to fight off the HRE with his one province Kingdom of Hungary? And how Emperor Hartwig, the son of King Ludwig inherited the Byzantines? Wellll...as Emperor Hartwig I knew I would have people revolt against me, so I created the Kingdom of Serbia for Hartwig. I then allowed the rebels to take over the throne with no blood-shed. Almost instantly, the Patriarch of the Byzantines (who, ironically enough, converted to Catholicism when Hartwig, a die-hard Catholic took over) started a faction for my father, King Ludwig to rule the Byzantines.
JACKPOT.
We demolished the Byzantine rulers, and now Kaiser Ludwig the Wise rules over the slowly-converting-to-Catholicism Byzantine Empire.
Praise God!

There's also some music and cosmetic changes (like Mongols having unique portraits). And the Ruler Designer, which is sort of gameplay, I guess.

Make a decently sized transport fleet(slower, cheaper, buuut cannot go on land and is a horror to use in no port provinces) or a good transport airplane fleet(very fast, very expensive, needs BYOA or somebody else's air port). That way you can load up multiple corps and transport them in a very short amount of time.

I don't know if they fixed it but there was an EU3 bug where the achievements.txt file would get progressively bigger and bigger until it started crashing the game.
I think I had a text file that was 1-2GB+ big before I got rid of it.

how is aresnal of democracy?
darkest hour is pretty neat, being able to start in the great war and continue into WW2, but i also savor the option of being able to have a bit of alt history with aod and extend WW2 into the fifites

It will be possible, I think. But I won't, simply because A. Magna Mundi is not my mod B. Conflicts would probably be everywhere.
I like how the Aztecs get crushed once the Golden Horde convert to Catholics and take part in a crusade for France.
