I watched TotalBiscuit's LP and it seemed alright. The dungeons are procedurally generated, right?
Yep, as you can see with the one I linked, he had two fucking shops at the spawn, I hate him for that :v:

I've never played a roguelike so I'll get this and tell you all what I think. [editline]15th July 2011[/editline] come at me diggles
It's still 503ing for me :c I want it on my own account.
Buy it through (in your case) Firefox but don't log in to your account until you're at the cart. That's what I did. Funny ass sense of humor in this game. Flippy Floppies, and a diggle called my mother a radish. Love it. I also love how dying is FUN. I guess that's an integral part of roguelikes though. How do I steal? Or is that even possible?
is there a wiki for this yet?

I just got this and played it for five hours. Definitely worth it. I have never gotten past the second level though.
Also theorycrafting until the steam store works again, maces with vampirism, stun+lifesteal, add viking magic for shits and giggles.
Click on the item and choose "Pick up" instead of buy or don't buy.
I got that far on my own, but the shopkeep then blocks the door.
I got that far on my own, but the shopkeep then blocks the door.
You have to take it without him noticing you from what I've gathered, and there's a chance he finds out when you walk out, and he turns hostile. [editline]16th July 2011[/editline] Or you can just kill the dude and help yourself to everything in the shop afterwards, the fireball thing takes like 2 thirds of his health from what I've seen :v:
Started a new character and I already found a bolt of mass destruction.
I got that far on my own, but the shopkeep then blocks the door.
I was only going by what I've read and I remember someone saying he'd one hit you so I never tried. You could try an invisibility potion I guess.
I was only going by what I've read and I remember someone saying he'd one hit you so I never tried. You could try an invisibility potion I guess.
He doesn't always one-hit you, it's just early on when you have low health. Also I found a way to steal, but whenever you walk in and out of a shop it'll say you stole and then Brax and his guards will attack you. The last skill in the burglary tree lets you steal items though. The first skill in the tree is pretty useful too, it gives you 3 lockpicks every time you use it. And I found a bit of a bug. If you have a skill set as your active one on a character, then load another character, he'll have that skill as his active. For example, I made a rogue and had the skill that gives you 3 lockpicks set as my active. Then I went on my warrior and I can use it, even though I don't have the burglary skill. So are you guys doing permadeath or not? I've been doing it and it's proven to be... hilarious, to say the least. And surprising as hell.
I love the Prince reference: Took me a few moments to get it but when I did I just started laughing.

Like, the references. I don't think there isn't an item that isn't a reference.
Oh fuck I ran into a monster zoo oh god help
For whoever asked, there is a wiki, but it's very incomplete. As for the game, I'm having a very hard time finding a set of skills that works for me. I haven't tried much in the way of magics, because out of the gate they confused the shit out of me. Any tips?
Probably been asked before but how do you use It Belongs In A Museum?
Probably been asked before but how do you use It Belongs In A Museum?
Set it as your active skill, right click an artifact.
Is there any way to pick up just one item from a stack?
Can someone tell me what makes this game worth paying for? I've played a lot of roguelikes, and I have difficulty accepting the idea that this could be far better than the free ones I've played, like Elona and Dwarf Fortress (whether or not you consider that one a roguelike, it's still outstanding quality for a free game). So... Someone with a lot of roguelike experience want to tell me about this game and what makes it better? Is there maybe a detailed review somewhere that I can read? There wasn't a whole lot if info in the OP :/
Furthest I've gotten is 60,000 points. I died to an invisible boss diggle commando who snuck up on me. :tinfoil:

This pleases me!

New blog post for all of you, Thought I'd post it here, I know some of you lot are having problems with crashing. [release]For those of you with technical issues Hi Guys, A select few of you are still having some issues with some rather annoying bugs in the game. Most of you are fine, and if you haven’t had any issues don’t worry! However, if you *have* had issues, know that we want to make playing Dungeons of Dredmor enjoyable for everyone; believe me when I say that getting these issues dealt with is at the top of our list right now. So, if you’re having some issues, click through here for your definitive guide for getting us the information as efficiently as possible so that we can get this sorted out for you. (Linux guys: those of you who have emailed us have hopefully received a note from me. We are still very committed to getting you a Linux version of Dredmor, please be patient, we have not forgotten about you!) Okay, first off, Mac people: We do not yet have a patch fix out for you for the latest issue involving save games loading badly. Part of the reason for this is that we need to go out and buy Nick a Mac to deal with this. It’s a long story, we are very hopeful to have the patch pushed out for Tuesday morning PST. We do not need your save files, as we are almost positive we know what the issue is. We will update this if the status changes early next week. ————————————– Windows people! We aren’t going to be happy until you are happy, but we have debugging information scattered all over the place, so we’re going to centralize it here. For those of you with crash bugs: FIRST: Make sure your game is up to date! Sometimes the steam updater can be a bit… out of sync. You should have version 1.0.2, which should show up in the bottom left corner on the main screen, like so: If you do NOT have this, then you haven’t been updated. To force steam to update you, you can right click on “Dungeons of Dredmor” in your Steam library, and click “delete local game content”. This should not delete your saved characters, just the stuff that needs to be updated. Then, by downloading the game again, you should see the 1.0.2 that we want you to see. ————————————– If you HAVE version 1.0.2 and are STILL getting crashes: We are currently aware of two crash bugs. One where going up a set of stairs and then down again (possibly involving your summoned cohort) can cause instability – We’ll call this the Stairs Crash. Two, a crash that involves saving, loading, Stores, and maybe some bizarre behavior from Brax. We’ll call this the Store Crash. If you have a crash bug, whether it’s the Stairs Crash, the Store Crash, or some other New and Exciting Crash, we want: Your .dmp file. This can be found at the following location: C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\content\dungeons of dredmor or C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\content\dungeons of dredmor A brief explanation of your crash. You can just say Stairs or Store Crash, or if it’s something new and horrible, let us know that too. Send these emails to BugReports@gaslampgames.com // Every single email we get (that isn’t about Viagra) gets read by one of us. ————————————– FINALLY, if you are on version 1.0.2 (as described above) AND you are STILL having savegame loading issues: We want your save files! For Windows 7 people, look in Documents\Gaslamp Games\Dungeons of Dredmor. For windows XP people, it’s “My Documents\Gaslamp Games\Dungeons of Dredmor” What you’re looking for is a .SAV file named after your character (NOT the bitmap_*.SAV, just the CharName.SAV file) Please send that file to BugReports@gaslampgames.com // feel free to also include any information about the awesome stuff you were doing at the time, as this makes reading these much more entertaining =)[/release]
haha aww, they're such nice dudes their blogposts are all heartwarming and genuinely like "aw, you can't play our game hassle-free? we're trying our damnedest to fix it! promise! just bare with us. xoxo" rather than sellout companies that only dish out patches to get more sales
