Go psionics. It has the most use, healing, sleeping, nerve staple can paralyze I think, the psychokinetic shove has its uses, and pyrokinesis is incredibly mana-efficient.
Necromantics at level 8 allows you to just rightclick an entire room 1hit killing them. Or else they die from the curse. It stuns too, so they won't attack.
Using spells drains your mana, destroys your mana bar and regeneration as the effects stack. But they wear out too. And for some reason stacking decreases your spell cost from 10 to as low as 2.
It's incredibly OP.
Oh you need to be a blood mage too. But that's obvious.

There's no autosave. save your game.
You need one of the crafting skills. I think smith. so you can make that mechanical arm and have the added strength bonus.
What materials do you need to make a mechanical arm?
oh wow, that first spell from neuromontics or whatever its name is takes 4 hp per turn... wtf?
Also, is it worth getting levels in smithing or do you just leave it at one?
bah, merge
What materials do you need to make a mechanical arm?
Don't know. Some brass parts i think. Like brass piping or whatever. It needs smithing at level 4.
You should always raise your crafting skills, as you need a higher rating to make better gear. For example, a fine steel sword requires a smithing level of 4.

Now that, is where I've been going wrong.
One time I had the Tinkerer and Archaeologist skills.
I was crappy in combat but MAN traps didn't stand a chance against my magic fingers.
I just realised I took ley lines and blood magic yet none of my spells use mana. I'm now on level 4 so fuck restarting.
This Djinn was all like 'sup B BOY how bout I slap and counter your puny little tinkerer ass' and I totally moved a shoddy dwarven IED in his path.
Needless to say the explosion killed me.
RIP ButtSlammer II
My pure mage guy is dead so blood mage vamp rouge wizard is go.

This game is extremely easy to get running on a mac. A CxEx wrapper with no configuration at all runs it perfectly, but you have to have a pirated version unfortunately.

Yeah it's pretty easy. Just buy for 4 euro and install really.
How do I split a stack of items? I've got the burglary skill, letting me essentially generate infinite lockpicks, and the horadric lutefisk. So I'm trying to turn it all into lutefisk to tithe to the god, but I can put a stack of 15 lockpicks in the cube and it still only turns into 1 lutefisk

When I get the cube, I leave its window open at the bottom center of my screen, for when I want to transmute items to lutefisk.
Er... Okay
Someone told me there's a way to use the crafting menu to split a stack of items. Does anyone know how that might work? Some button combination I need to hit?

Oh, when you use autofill, it just grabs one of the item.
Try that.
Ahh... I can see that working in some situations, but I think there'd have to be a crafting recipe that calls for lockpicks if I wanted to split those.

I haven't gotten past level 3 yet on Dwarven moderation.
Yet I don't really care, getting a little further each character is good enough for me.
So I'll keep making character after character, its really helping my name making skills.
Colonel FlabberTwat is my current one. Currently fighting a monster zoo on level 3, I've gone to extra effort to ensure that the majority of his equipment is plastic.
I played a shitload from now on, with permadeath on it takes a lot of time to get in deeper floors.
I have only been in the second floor. I died because of some stupid reason.
"Skål!", said the magical box that turns things into fish snot.

This is my monster zoo music.
Try put a horadim cube in another cube...
Funny stuff will happen.

I've just managed to get to level 2 on Going Rogue. Go me?
I was kicking ass as a Viking character, using axes, dual wield, berserker rage, viking magic, smithing, artful dodger and assassination. Sadly I was slain before I even reached level 2. :(
The first viking magic spell is badass, let's you one hit a lot of things on level 1 on Dwarven Moderation.
I'm wondering if I should finally deviate from my typical vampirism. It's extremely useful, but it came back to bite me in the ass last life.
Basically I was trapped in a room with 3 doors. Door #1 had a named genie and a toxiblobby behind it. Door #2 had an unfriendly AI and a toxiblobby behind it. Door #3 had a herd of deths behind it. I had no way to get past them, and I only had 4 HP left, no way to regain any health. So I decided to take my chances with the deths, and two of them surrounded me and killed me.
I just think I could have avoided that situation if it wasn't for the vampirism

Whenever that happens I just summon something and kill it and eat its body.
I should be getting this game soon. Any advice for a new player? I plan on playing hardest difficulty with permadeath because I am a man and not a pussy
