Well I just died with a ridiculously stupid mistake. Got surrounded with 3 health left (after making dumb choices during combat), and deiced to use a teleport potion instead of using my knightly jump. It teleported me right next to a monster. Oh well, I did pretty good for my second character. Died on the seventh floor.
How many floors are there? I have only briefly been on the second floor.
Pretty easy really. Even without dual wield skill.
Haha the music is great accelerated.
How many floors are there? I have only briefly been on the second floor.
Ten floors.
Here's a question...If I have an artifact which is say, a crude iron sword, but it's an artifact, and has the enchantments.....Can it still be used in crafting, as if it was a crude iron sword, and if so, Would it maintain the enchantments in the new sword I'm crafting it into?
Tip: Use 4 diggle eggs in an ingot smelter. It will get you an omelet, which heals for 60 hp.

Found the recipe for Bolts of Mass Destruction. Now to find iron spikey bolts and I'm ready to nuke the shit out of this dungeon. Also, my first zoo. Open door, see monsters, RUUUUUUUUN, then loads of single fights until every single one of them was dead.
-snip- bad attempt at funy.
Nope.
I'm sorry, I'd prefer an answer from someone who actually owns the game.
I'm sorry, I'd prefer an answer from someone who actually owns the game.
Not sure, never played very far as a crafter but I just died so I guess I'll make a smith :v:
Not sure, never played very far as a crafter but I just died so I guess I'll make a smith :v:
I managed to find a better sword, so I risked it. You can use it as a crafting ingredient, but it won't keep it's stats.

[editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] I found a recipe for exquisite serpentine platemail. I wasn't a smith. FTD. [sp]Fuck this dungeon[/sp]
this games music is amazing
I think they should implement stat inheritance in crafting. [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] I found a recipe for exquisite serpentine platemail. I wasn't a smith. FTD. [sp]Fuck this dungeon[/sp]
I'm okay with crafting. On my smith character just, I managed to get enough iron on the first floor, to craft a Fine Iron Sword, and it was pretty overpowered. I probably could've got a really high score on that dungeon, if I didn't cock-up again at a monster zoo.
I haven't played in a bit because I think I might be stuck. I've gotten to the floor that looks sort of like the inside of a ship that has the Witchys and fuck they are deadly. I have fucking aluminum armor and fine Steel Swords too. But I can't even level up at this point since I cleared all the floors before and it'll be really dangerous to go down. Guess I'll have to chance it and be really careful.
I found a reference I didn't get, the harmless red cube, can anyone explain it? I also lost to a fucking steam golem that did 60+ damage to me in a single hit, christ, I was fully healed on the 4th floor doing awesome, had amazing gear, and he 1-shots me from full health, I was so mad.
Steam golems are so annoying.
A few things I've figured out are so important to being a mage: 1. MUSTACHE FUCKING GOLEMS 2. Radiant Aura from Atrology 3. Alchemy 4. don't look around for things to put in a post about what's important to being a mage and die while not paying attention to some diggles
I think the best description for this game is "Baby's first roguelike: for adults." This is the perfect roguelike to introduce people into the genre and gameplay of spending countless lives and hours crawling through dungeons, but it's also perfect for more experienced players. It's a lighter dose. There's a brilliantly simple UI (albeit with some clunkiness still), and it's super easy to just jump into and get started. It does however manage to deliver a solidly gripping experience. It starts off simple enough that anyone can join in, but it quickly turns into a more hardcore experience further down the dungeon which is perfect for people with experience in the genre. I'm so glad I bought this game. I was initially seriously skeptical about this. What does this give me that another roguelike doesn't. How is this better than IVAN, for example? I mean IVAN is graphical and ridiculously humorous, so how can this be any better and for 5 dollars? I took the chance, however, and it has already paid off. Once again, it's casual enough in the beginning to get you hooked, but then it does really deliver a true roguelike experience. That's not to say I still love to play a crazy hardcore roguelike, but this game is worth it even for hardcore fans.
What I really like is that it does a lot of original things. When you start playing a lot of roguelikes, you experience a lot of "oh this works just like it does in Nethack... and Elona... and Crawl" The skills and monsters are fairly unique in this game, and even the wands and potions are pretty different. Also I'm just fucking ecstatic that it doesn't have the annoyance of finding cursed equipment everywhere, and needing to identify every decent-looking item you find. I don't know why so many roguelikes insist on having that gameplay element.
And the insults! "I hate you so much!", or "Thou hast terrible disease", or "your father was the quivering side of a man-beef"... Not many games got that. :v:
how would you know you don't even have the game
I will not go over this again. So let's just ignore it.

I don't know why so many roguelikes insist on having that gameplay element.
Identification is difficult to perfectly balance in roguelikes, but most of the time it is pretty necessary. It exists mainly to encourage players to play cautiously, and also to make for more interesting gameplay decisions -- if every item in NetHack were identified upon pickup, the Amulet of Strangulation would never be a threat, would it? And then item management would be incredibly boring; "Oh, it's a cursed sword. Maybe I shouldn't use it." "Oh, it's a potion that increases my max health. Should I drink it?" Identification in this game kind of irks me. Sure, everything is identified upon pickup, but many of the item descriptions are (purposefully) ambiguous. For example, many of the mushrooms have descriptions that hint to their function, but don't explicitly say it. As such, even once you've used one, you have to memorize its effect, since the game will never tell you outright. Another major problem the game has is that, what with no identification, a spoiled player (i.e. one with access to a guide) will never have to make difficult decisions. Everything's cut and dry.
Seriously how do you have money for gold member and a title but not $5 for this game
You know what? I'm just going to recommend everyone go read this column. It's absolutely wonderful and has some excellent insight. As of right now, the author hasn't published a new entry for months, so it seems the column might have kicked the bucket, but it's definitely worth reading the past articles. Read this article for a better explanation than my own on why roguelikes need things like item identification.
Seriously how do you have money for gold member and a title but not $5 for this game
He didn't buy either.
Hehehe, I got my mana regeneration up to six. Mana regen every step! Fireballs everywhere! I will probably never have to touch a melee weapon again! It's kind of weird that they would set it up so that when it's at six it's twice as good as when it's at five. Seems a little unbalanced. I did manage this on medium, but with permadeath off. I barely made any mistakes this run, and if I get knightly dodge earlier, which is almost an undo mistake button, I could probably do pretty well on permadeath if I keep my wits about me. I guess non-permadeath mode is a nice way to get some practice and get familiar with the skills and items your character will use.
