Don't take the "This guy will appear out of nowhere and you gotta kill him" quests when you are first starting out....
Don't take the "This guy will appear out of nowhere and you gotta kill him" quests when you are first starting out....
There's no fun in not adventuring!
Why is Vampirism considered OP? Only being able to heal in combat seems pretty shit in practice, since traps will still slap your shit and you end up one-shotting diggles and the like pretty fast, so you can't even heal much that way.
You can use healing potions for emergency heals, but you hardly need it with Vampirism. Acid Traps are a vampires worst enemy though, stepping on one while not being able to heal can be troublesome.
edit: oh Im stupid, nvm
Don't take the "This guy will appear out of nowhere and you gotta kill him" quests when you are first starting out....
I only take quests after I've leveled up twice.
Never put lutefisk in a lutefisk cube. It cuts the amount of lutefisk every time.

Jeez how the heck are you supposed to confront monster zoos, it's crazy.
Jeez how the heck are you supposed to confront monster zoos, it's crazy.
AoE and tight corridors.
New blogpost, about how the press are recieving this game. [release]Obligatory Press Post As game developers, we have to put up links to our Press Clippings on the company weblog so we have some place to send our parents (who still don’t believe we have real jobs.) So now, it’s time for the Gloat Walk: Rock Paper Shotgun: “I survived the nameless horrors summoned by the Shrine of Eyeballs. I fought cybernetic aliens, hulking Djinn, moustache golems. I even survived the Monster Zoo, the dreaded room packed wall-to-wall with bloodthirsty enemies – twice. I didn’t survive the blade trap…” Press X or Die: “It’s a good sign when you’d rather play the game you’re supposed to review than actually review it. I am afraid to run Dungeons of Dredmor again because I’ll spend another hour on it (at best). Sadly, I had to get screenshots for the article, so I lost another 2 hours summoning moustache golems and killing diggles.” Game Informer: “Dungeons of Dredmor isn’t Diablo III. It’s not even Dungeon Siege III, but it makes no pretensions about it. The game barely takes itself seriously enough to have proper swords, much less tell an epic story or rewrite the rules of a genre. Gaslamp Games’ mission was to make a fun, accessible, lighthearted dungeon crawl with enough interesting mechanics to make exploring the game’s systems as intriguing as diving through its dungeon. Dungeons of Dredmor is a solid success in those terms, and easily exceeds expectations for its five-dollar price tag.” Game Pro: “I’m quite taken with this roguelike; it feels like a game that came out of nowhere and hits all of the dungeon-crawl buttons — steep challenge, lots of loots, and a ton of monsters. Throw in its humor and soundtrack and you’ve got a roguelike that should appeal to anyone who likes a good dungeon-crawl.” and Wired, of all people, featured us in their list of “7 Fantastical Indie RPGs worth playing” (alongside such distinguished company as Recettear and Cthulhu Saves The World.) Have you written about Dredmor? We’d love to hear from you. Would you like to write about Dredmor? Send us e-mail to our increasingly-buried contact list, and we’ll see if we can help you out.
Jeez how the heck are you supposed to confront monster zoos, it's crazy.
Keep a bolt of mass destruction or two around for one :v:
Jeez how the heck are you supposed to confront monster zoos, it's crazy.
Run away until you find a one-space wide corridor, and then just hack and slash. You'll probably also want to have some food and booze on hand, preferably strong. Deep Omeletts are excellent and easy to make -- smelt four Diggle Eggs together. If you can't find a one-space hallway, another good alternative is jumping over a moat. That assumes you have a reliable teleport ability, though. It's not quite as safe, but while the monsters are coming around the moat, you can pick off the flying ones and maybe set up some traps/runes depending on your skill setup.
Bought the game.
Jeez how the heck are you supposed to confront monster zoos, it's crazy.
Become a promethean mage and blood mage, get rune of exploding, go to a 1x1 corridor and keep putting them at the entrance.
Become a promethean mage and blood mage, get rune of exploding, go to a 1x1 corridor and keep putting them at the entrance.
I find that golemancy is much better when it comes to dealing with monster zoos. Just lock them in with unliving walls and spam spells on them until they die.
Become a promethean mage and blood mage, get rune of exploding, go to a 1x1 corridor and keep putting them at the entrance.
Or alternatively, Bolts of Bottled Acid and Bolts of squid.
Bought the game.
Prepare to die, a lot. Don't worry, you're meant to.
I am. I genuinely wanted to check out his work.
You're looking at it. [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline]
What a surprise
What a surprise, you're a bigot! :getout: avatar you cool cat you ;)
Uggh, stop with the furry talk please.
*slowly slides his paw down his hot shaft*
*slowly slides his paw down his hot shaft*
You aren't funny.
Just stop it.
You aren't funny.
I care so muchhh
I care so muchhh
no seriously. stop
Prepare to die, a lot. Don't worry, you're meant to.
He plays Dwarf Fortress, I'd say he's used to dying. Honestly, you don't die a lot in this game. When I think of a hard roguelike I think of dying every five minutes, but in this I've only died like... 10 times. [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] Course, that's on dwarven medium. Going rogue is probably stupid hard. :v:
