Is there a way to increase your tinkering or alchemy or smithing if you didn't select it as a primary skill? Basically what I'm trying to say is if it's not my main skill is the item useless to me?
If you find an item that has a buff for those stats you could. Also: The Archeology Skill works on shop items.(even if you don't buy them) Edit: nvm I'm late.
Wow that's broken.
That was such a long video for something that could have been shown in 10 seconds..
Yeah, no. Pretty much every roguelike has something that's purely luck-based that can fucking kill you. Be it monster zoos, fountains full of acid, or Amulets of Strangulation.
the last two are easily avoidable if you're at all careful, and monster zoos aren't that difficult once you get good skills
Am I the only one totally creeped out by Thrusties attack? Also, found recipe for a clockwork arm.
Yeah, no. Pretty much every roguelike has something that's purely luck-based that can fucking kill you. Be it monster zoos, fountains full of acid, or Amulets of Strangulation.
But there's a way out of all of those, you realize. Monster Houses are disposed of by funneling the monsters or otherwise using area-of-effect attacks to deal with many enemies at once. I don't think I've seen acid fountains in other roguelikes, but if they're in this game, then that's this game's problem. Amulets Of Strangulation can be prayed out of, as long as you're in good standing with your god. In good roguelikes, there's a way out of any situation with good playing. Just because you're too eager to take chances and get killed doesn't mean it's 'purely luck based.'
You can get out of any situation if you really wanted to. With certain builds you might die in the first minute, but that's not even a problem. It just means you've made a difficult to start character. It all comes down to yourself.
Am I the only one totally creeped out by Thrusties attack? Also, found recipe for a clockwork arm.
Thrusties love to thrust, in thrust they trust, so beware of their thrust. I always laugh when I get surrounded by them and they thrust at me from all sides.
Found a bookcase with a description 'contains wide selection of Thrusty adventure novels'. I'm worried. Is there any use for platinium/electrum/gold, I mean any useful crafts? I have shitloads of it.

At max tinker/smith you make 4 bars per native platinum.

Cleared out my first monster zoo as a Promethean mage. Then accidentally stepped on a rune of exploding that was hidden under the blood of my enemies that didn't get set off in the fight and died. v:v:v At least I did better than my next highest score.

Huge AOE kills + blood magic = infinite mana / sagacity buffs it's not so much that mages need a nerf as much as other skill trees need a buff.
Promethean Mages are stupidly OP. Huge AOE kills + blood magic = infinite mana / sagacity buffs
Yeah, I did random and got Promethean magic with blood magic. It felt wrong to be that OP, but oh so right.
necronominomics is so unforgiving in comparison i understand taking away health to use spells as well as mana but it defeats the whole purpose of using it. it'd just be better if you got temporary curses instead
In the next patch, they are making it less "Self-Destructive" apparently, So that might help.
Thank god, I hate using a spell and having it take away 1/4 of my life.
Can't wait for next patch. So many things being changed and fixed, looks promising.

It's just too hard to get dark resistance so you can avoid damaging yourself. You have one buff that gives you 2 resistance, and there's the red hat that gives another 2 i think. Problem with that is that as you grow more powerful the debuffs increase with the damage you inflict. Together with a slight nerf of debuff your only buff needs a buff (:v:) because just 2 resistance is too little.
In the next patch, they are making it less "Self-Destructive" apparently, So that might help.
I think Dredmor is one of the few modern games that Incur heavy penalties on the use of dark (or squidly) magic.
Aha, kicking an Eely out of the water and seeing it get stuck is so hilarious.
I have 1 hitpoint, and I'm cornered by a glowing moustache in a shop. I think of no possible way to survive this, as a vampire.
I have 1 hitpoint, and I'm cornered by a glowing moustache in a shop. Had no points, no knightly leap, no way of teleporting. Ate a dire sandwich, they attacked. Countered one and killed it, the other missed. Ran away and lived. :v: (And then died to two acid bolt traps)
Teleport/jump.
Vampire warrior, not vampire mage. No teleportation. I'm dead anyway now, I forgot that equipping items took one turn. [editline]26th July 2011[/editline] But I have started a new one, and changed my setup so I can use Knightly leap later.
There's more freedom for escape with enemies not being able to attack diagonally.
There's more freedom for escape with enemies not being able to attack diagonally.
This is why I love me some hex grids.
Aha, kicking an Eely out of the water and seeing it get stuck is so hilarious.
I got an Eely as a named boss in Level 3 right in the middle of a Monster Zoo. Easiest take down ever.
This is why I love me some hex grids.
They're alright, but don't have a place in a game like this. More for a tactical game, as far as I see them.
