You must learn the mantra
Losing is Fun
If you can count how many characters you've made (assuming you don't number each one) you're doin it wrong
Again, I'm well aware that losing is fun and part of the point in Rougelikes, but "losing" to a game-stopping bug instead of proper death is not what I consider fun.
But if it crashes you get an achievement

You're right, although the achievement is funny and it made me smile.
the fire magic stuff is pretty good for the zoos. pretty damn good in general actually.
Just used squid bolts on a monster zoo for the first time. It took me about a minute to walk 2 cells because the game had to register all the damage to the monsters before I could finish my turn.
I wish there was some big reward for clearing a monster zoo (more than just an achievement). There could be a big reward at the end in the form of gold or experience or an artifact, or more than one of these.
Also I really think sidequests should reward you with experience in addition to the item, since it seems like 75% of the time you're just given a useless artifact.

Would crafting XP for higher-level crafting (2+ skill level) be out of place? I don't think so.

That damn Monster Zoo music is stuck in my head now

They're going to add a reward for clearing zoos.
Killing uniques should have a chance to drop a random artifact item.
One of my first characters got killed by a unique thrusty named Bangfroak the President of Lutefisk
I was curious and started to play as blood mage with golemacy, level 2, zoo at the very beginning, thrusties everywhere, I did not manage to escape...they would thrust from all sides until I was dead.
Killing RANDOM uniques should have a chance to drop a random artifact item.
ftfy.
It would become slightly abused if all unique monsters dropped artifacts, You would get at a small chance TWO artifacts from a single "Destroy unique mob" "summon and destroy unique mob" side quests
Is Ley Walker a worthwhile skill?
No, not really. There are other skills which will gain you even more mana. The skill sounds good on paper. But with other combinations you can gain a lot more mana.

Oh, alright then.
Also, what is this?

I haven't seen them before, and I've found two so far on this character.

I think it's just decoration.
Also, Your moustache amuses me.

Just random ones, not spawnables.
Damn, go to level 7 and monsters keep dealing shitloads of damage. Found this earlier, also notice the BMDs, that's what crafting can do, I have like 13 now.

I'm trying out things again, and Random just aint doing it. Someone recommend a skill build for me please?
I like the apparent high level of Dwarf Fortress references:

Yes I'm aware I'm probably late in both this and even mentioning it but I've been away since an hour after this was released.
I take it there's a ton of references to all kinds of Roguelikes but I haven't played a whole lot of them extensively.
Just bought this game and played for a couple hours. Doing a magey type of character.
I nearly lost it when 2 hours in after casting that explosion-rune spell, the game stopped registering all input (but not hanging exactly.) Appearantly it's not an isolated issue and THANKFULLY the game happened to autosave 5 minutes before it happened. I know the point of rougelikes is dying and starting over, but this is my first playthrough and if I happen to die, that would be fair, but having to restart from a bug would've annoyed me greatly.
I think tomorrow I'm gonna start a viking axe thor berserker guy character and will play as him until that gets fixed. Great game so far, I'm new to Rougelikes but not to the concept of a hard/unfair RPG so I'm enjoying it immensely so far.
Report this to Gaslamp because I reported this game issue while using runes of exploding and having all input stop.

Axe, dual wielding, man at arms, viking magic, berserk, smithing and perception is working out well for me.

I shall ASAP, hope the next patch fixes it.
It's a rune gate from quake, you can't walk through them though.
Actually, they should add that in, make the rune gates act as teleporters like the pentagrams do.
Rate me late, but I discovered you can grill steaks on the BBQs. Also, I emailed the devs, I wonder what they answer will be like.

I love all the DF references. Pretty much everything with the word dwarf in it is a reference to DF.
Also I noticed that it belongs in a museum is glitched for me.
As in a used the skill on a item worth 4k and only got about 200 exp.
Also if you piss of Brax are all the other braxes also pissed off?
Or are you safe as soon as you move on to the second floor.

Damn, why didn't I think of that.
I think they should merge tinkering and smithing. It's just not worth it having 3 different skills for crafting. Especially annoying when you find a bookcase for a really nice item outside of your skill. I found a recipe for The Royal Beatdown (The best mace in the game, on my heavily mace oriented character) but I'll never be able to craft it because I didn't choose all 3 crafting schools.
Disagree, it makes more sense the way it is now. Smithing for a warrior, alchemy for a wizard and tinkering for a rogue. There is huge difference between smithing and tinkering, smithing is more about making armours and weapons while tinkering makes traps and other gadgets.

Vampire is also a mage skill which doesn't make much sense.
