I found an interesting shield on level 7 today [thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/542901600297480894/EB9D8A5407754A92C8E4D08225F31EA829E42F81/[/thumb] It would be godly if I were a magic user and also not a dual-wielder Funny thing is that in an inventory space, it is not visible at all. I accidentally placed things in its square so many times because I forgot it was there. [editline]2nd August 2011[/editline] Man this gets piss easy switching from hard to medium. First medium game I started, I made it all the way to floor 8. I skipped a couple monster zoos, but still
I could have SWORN there was an achievement for hitting the "wait" button for like 200 turns straight... Did I just imagine that?
After three floors, I finally found chalk so I could make some steel ingots. I now have a fine steel sword. The +1 damage over the orcslasher wasn't really worth it... I don't even have the recipe for the katana. Finally killed Dredmor, but only on easy. :suicide:
Five images incoming. Tried to murder Brax, succeeded, but despite my bombs and traps the dread collectors would not stop popping out of nowhere. Lost my best character :V
I know I used 3! nuke bolts on brax but then my health was so low I died after killing about 15 dread collectors (they usually die with 2 shots of cruelly barbed iron bolts) I saved my game (not on permadeath because my game tends to crash which would erase my character.
My caster is really starting to get shit done now. I bought an Orb of Nothingness for like 17,000 zorkmids from Brax which basically boosts my mana by 30, boosts mana regen, and boosts my magic power. I have a nature orb too in the other hand slot, and I have maxed out Ley Walker, so every single turn I get +1 mana regenerated. I'm a golemancer/promethean/psionic spellcaster. I don't think I'll make it to the end of course, but I'm enjoying how mana is no longer a problem for me. I've not had to drink anything mana-related since dungeon level 2. Edit: 6 hours later, I died. I got poisoned by my own thermobobs or whatever, the little poisonous purple guys from Golemancy. I have been so careful up to now, got the farthest I ever have and pow, dead. A dead, hidden diggle commando corpse was around, I walked into the poison, kept moving at full speed and before I could realize what happened I died. I was doing quarantine zones and everything but all it took was one slip. Still, was a great experience. My score was 197,363. That digging spell (final skill) with Golemancy is so kickass. I've since restarted this character, except I replaced Psionics with Mathemagic so I can teleport. My only concern is getting another Orb of Nothingness.

Thaumites could go die in a fire if they weren't godlike for zoos.
Thaumite staff + two gargoyles in front of the door + mathamagic spell "curse of the golden ratio" = best damn zoo of my career that's right, I have a staff that causes thaumites :smug: [sp]I'm also quite dead[/sp]
Just a bit of little info for you, Those purple things are called Thaumites, and they're an absolute cunt.
Yeah thaumites. They're very dangerous, but there's no questioning their effectiveness. They served me well until my very fatal slip. My usual strategy in a group of enemies would be walling myself in a corner and letting the infection spread. I will still use the little guys, I just will be on guard 24/7 and use them less often.
I seem to be losing interest in this game... And my guess for the cause (which I just realized) is that there's not a lot of variation in the equipment. I wish things were more like the Diablo games, where you hardly ever find two items with the exact same stats. I guess it would also be cool if they'd add more equipment, even if it's not randomly-generated. The 1.04 update seems to be taking forever in relation to 1.03
Well they fixed their shit pretty fast, maybe they'll add some content.
Level 7 or 8 and below has corruption traps. Whenever you trigger one, one of your items gets a negative attribute or two added to it. Basically the same thing as getting a 'krong is displeased with you' anvil roll. So much of my loot was rendered useless due to it. Fortunately at those levels, you start seeing lots of good loot everywhere, so it wasn't that hard to find replacements. Even worse though, level 10 has Corrupted Blobbies. They can corrupt an item every time they hit you. Better save up those ranged attack items, heh.

This game's soundtrack is amazing.
This game's soundtrack is amazing.
Yeah, it never gets old for me. "Swamp" and "Dervish" are my favorites.
"Ghosts" Is my favorite one.
Argh, I finally had a decent character going then my sister was being a bitch and caused me to completely use focus on what I was doing getting my character killed.
I died again with my 2nd caster (Mathemagic/Golemancy/Promethean) I accidentally fell into a teleportation glyph on level 6 (or 7), got swarmed by monsters and was unable to put walls up in time or retreat. Got 200,824 points for a score this time. I'll try a rouge type of character next.
Argh, I finally had a decent character going then my sister was being a bitch and caused me to completely use focus on what I was doing getting my character killed.
Remember, the world only moves when you do. Next time you get distracted, just don't move until whatever is bugging you is over.
Mathemagic and Golemancy is really powerful combo. It won me my first game.
Which spells in particular?
Which spells in particular?
For Golemancy, the best ones are... Thaumite infection: While they're very dangerous to you if you're not careful, they're basically a monster zoo killer. Spam it amidst the crowd with walls up between you and them and play the waiting game - the infection spreads and they'll all be dead before you know it. Wall summoning: Being able to summon walls basically makes you immune to any threat, especially when coupled with Thaumites/AOE spells. Provided you have the time to set them up, of course. Mortal Machine: Summons a pretty strong robot companion, he helped distract against solo monsters for me when I had to make a getaway. He's probably not the best summon in the game, but he's tough and hits hard. Mining ray: Think of it like a pickaxe in minecraft, it removes walls for you. Amazing for making shortcuts or for makeshift defenses coupled with the wall spell. This is more of a fun spell than anything else, but I did find myself using it quite a lot. I just took Mathemagic for the controllable teleport spell (but never actually did get it, Promethean and Golemancy were my priorities, if I did have it I would've lived). My main attack was Obvious Fireball, and before that it was the Thaumite infection. Golemancy is probably the best magic skill in the game.
fuck the digglice [editline]12th August 2011[/editline] This game is great, I bought it a few days ago and despite dying many times starting over always feels fresh and exciting.
I got a beta key for the game now, so I'm playing the new patch. Is it worth posting things here anymore?
I forgot about this game. There was going to be an update or something, right?
I forgot about this game. There was going to be an update or something, right?
Yes, There's a new patch in the works at the moment. Still in beta at the moment though.
Big update coming very soon guys, includes tons of fixes and a few new goodies, like achievements.
Died on Level 5 on Dwarvish Moderation with a character I started a few months ago because I walked into an arrow trap I could see. All my rage
I wonder if it would be possible to rip sprites and stuff from the game. I'd love to get the idle frames from that fire newt thing you can summon :v: EDIT: Oh, hehe. After a bit of searching I found a program that converts the .spr files into .pngs. Awesome
Mind posting it? I wasn't able to find a good converter that worked.
