I am a roguelike fan (playing every single roguelike I see) but never get past levels 3-4.The only exclusion is Nethack, because it is quite easy compared to other roguelikes I just spend a lot of time on the first floor (Maybe there is a secret room!) and then die from random stuff like: Starvation, poison, burning, debuffs, traps, angry gods Spent my whole summer on roguelikes, only got to level 4 in Stone Soup
I do the same thing, but I always die from poison. I can get around any obstacle but things that act like poison. Acid, Fire, Lingering Shock, and Vomiting, to name a couple.
Make a space marine skillset. Warhammer 40K style.
A 40k mod would be epic. You could always take skills and such from dawn of war, librarian powers and such
Better yet, make an Eversor skillset
A 40k mod would be epic. You could always take skills and such from dawn of war, librarian powers and such
I found a chainsword once, but I don't know if it was from a mod that I have or what. All I know is that I want a laspistol, like right now.

The game plays by its own rules (as opposed to breaking them, a la Shiren 3's bosses that are invulnerable to items) at all times and is just generally marvelously balanced. It's not as gruelingly difficult as Stone Soup, I suppose. But no, I wouldn't say easy.
One of my favorites is Incursion. It's pretty much a full-on D&D game with all the feats, stats, races, artifacts, etc. It's also got very engaging loot and some of the most varied dungeon layouts I've seen in a Roguelike. Unfortunately, it had development cycle similar to Dwarf Fortress, if not slower.
Finally, after 4~ floors of waiting I got a lutefisk cube. (From a vending machine, too.) Now my 720 lockpicks can be put to good use!
Friend of mine managed to find this in a fountain on floor one. Unfortunately luck screwed him over on I think floor 2. We only play permadeath.
More than luck screwed him over, he was playing with werediggle.
Do you guys have any mods that you love? Better question, ARE there any existing mods?

Haven't tried any myself, but some do look interesting.

Died on floor 9. I almost cried in anguish then uninstalled the game. 6 hours later I reinstalled it and started again. I swear this is just as bad as crack. Permadeath only for this guy

I feel your pain bro.
Some ideas I had for skill mods: Aspect of the Dwarf: To survive in the depths of the earth, you've studied hard the ways of the Dwarves at a prestigious school. You suspect your colleagues were just in it for booze-fueled "study sessions." (Start with a Porta-A-Still) Mixology: Dehydration is an ever-present danger in the wild depths where the only available liquid is a clear, vile substance known as "water." With this in mind, you've learned to turn any fungus into Grog. 30 round cooldown, + 1 alchemy. Manic Digger: Dig a diggy diggy hole straight through 3 tiles of solid rock, air, and enemy flesh. 60 second cooldown Self-Medication: You've learned drown life's problems and life's gaping head wounds with alcohol. Booze now heals health in addition to mana. Stonesense: You are at one with the Earth. It's song resonates throughout your body and imparts upon you it's secrets. Also you took some classes in geology and architecture. Better chance to find gems and ore. + 1 smithing + 1 trap sight Booze-based biology: Alcohol is now an essential part of your diet. You gain + 18 Burliness and Stubbornness when under the effects of booze, but going too long without drink will have the opposite effect. Honorary Dwarf: Though you've never been able to grow more than a rugged-looking stubble, you've become a sturdy creature fond of drink and industry, because it doesn't matter if you got the beard on the outside, as long as you have the beard on the inside. + 1 smithing + 1 alchemy + 20 health
What does the Dwarf cap do? Anything special?
Do you guys have any mods that you love? Whoever made it must be incredibly sexy and also an all-around great guy.

I almost killed Lord Dredmor just now, was so close.
I almost killed Lord Dredmor just now, was so close.
Ouch. Permadeath?
Yep, always play with it.
I never got after floor 3. God am I bad in this game. And I still don't get the vegan tree, can someone explain it to me?
I've had this game for a while, but never bothered to download it. But today, I was bored off my ass and decided this was the right time. I can't remember anything from the last 5 hours.
Is it just me or is the only time you die in this game when something unfair happens. Like getting one shot with an acid trap. I had like a 4 hour save going and I was avoiding a monster zoo, I misclicked and walked into a portal next to it and the whole monster zoo was piled around me. No way to fight back without dieing and I couldn't move to teleport.

I know this thread has been down for about a month, but has anyone had any notable experiences in the game as of late? Also does anyone know what you can do with Ground Meat?
I know this thread has been down for about a month, but has anyone had any notable experiences in the game as of late? Also does anyone know what you can do with Ground Meat?
Eat it? Also I don't understand the vegan skill.
Apart from eating it or converting it into Lutefisk, I mean. I dunno much about the Killer Vegan skill either, since I didn't buy the Realm of the Diggle Gods addon. Apart from the new skills, what does the Diggle Gods addon add to the game? Also this game needs stuff like Bacon or Burgers; the latter could be made using Ground Meat in the Ingot Press. Could be the premise of a sort of "Junk Food" class that benefits from eating fatty junk food and suffers when they eat healthy grub.
Has there been any major updates/expansions in the works? Or any news about the game lately?
