I just encountered my first zoo. Cornered and murdered, that's was I was.
Holy crap, this game is really hard. Like really hard. But no frustrating.
Also the music rocks.
My best adventurer died because I got flanked by some asshole when I ran into a monster zoo :(
R.I.P Jörgen.
Just killed my first monster zoo  Does anyone know how open uberchests?
Are the creators actually going to implement character changes?
I am making a dual wielding Viking with rage and viking wizardy. Pray to Odin!

They said it would be impossible. Read the blog post.
I didn't use any weapons.

Unfriendly AI hit hard.

You can tone down the difficulty, you know.
I wouldn't normally, but I'm going in on Elves just want to have fun, and with Permadeath off...Purely because I want to see what Dredmor looks like, and soon.
Cleaned out an entire Monster House by jumping over a moat of lava nearby and then prodding them with thrown weapons and wands. :v:

What ability do you need to jump across water and lava?
This game is so much fun.
What ability do you need to jump across water and lava?
Teleport spells and I think knightly leap works too.

It's a lot more fun if it's more difficult. I like the challenge but sometimes you just die by some fucking accident.
I just drank a potion in despair which sounded very healthly but instead it killed me.
I fucking love games like these, gonna check it out now!
the second room i opened had 5 diggles and 5 bats

Yep, teleport spells will work. I used Knightly Leap, though. Very handy skill.
Decided to get this and so far I've been doing really good (almost too good I think). Playing on Dwarvish moderation with permadeath on and decided to make my character random so right now I'm playing a vampire archeologist wielding a staff who knows fleshmancy and fire spells + sneaking. Even tho I can't heal normally or use healing items I've dipped below 50% HP only once and even then I can just consume bodies.
Also, found a lutefisk horadric cube and as a result got a crummy ring from the lutefisk shrine.
Fuck they really need to fix the crashing I just lost half an hour of hard work.
I've found a one armed leather jacket, a total reference to Mad Max and Fallout. These references are hilarious.
One thing that bugs me is that you cannot really evade enemies or run away, even from far distance. But it adds to the challenge.
I think I found a bug. I picked up an artifact at a shop, used "It Belongs in a Museum" on it and Brax disappeared from the shop.
I just tried it again. I picked it up, he disappeared, I walked out of the shop with it and got the message about stealing, then the game crashed.

I accidentaly planted a trap next to him instead of selling it to him. When I picked it up, he blocked the exit like he owned it. "Well ok then, I'll just put this trap back where I put it."
Fuck! I saved and exited, and when I started it up there was no save! :frown:
Got to level 3...
Aha, the update made it obsolete eh.
New blog post
[release]Update From the Code Bunker
We’ve put up another build which has a fixed audio driver, and resolves a few other little issues. We have tried to make this backwards compatible with previous save files, but one of the things we added in this patch was also backwards load/save compatibility… so we’re going to have to work out the kinks here a little. If you make a *new* save that crashes and can’t load it, or you still get a random crash (we know about one descending, then ascending stairs, which we have seen a bit – but it might also be the audio thing, so we’re just going to wait and see… also what are you doing going back *up* the dungeon anyway?), send us an e-mail, preferably with a save game or crash dump, and we’ll get on it.
That said, so far everybody who was having crashes has reported that this build has cleared it up. Whew.
(Profound thanks to Ryan C. “icculus” Gordon, who debugged the first audio crash, then confirmed that the second audio crash was, in fact, “something that has just never been triggered in the past eight or so years in SDL_mixer.” We have now broken SDL_mixer about eight times and aren’t allowed to keep breaking it any more.)
I don’t know when the next patch will be up – probably not until some time next week – but we are going to try to start resolving some of the UI Clunkers people have reported (getting the keyboard/mouse movement a little more consistent, adding UI scaling, etc.) I would also like to turn on the Mod Browser and Weekly Challenges, but getting the core game running well is the top priority for all of us.[/release]
