oh, I just haven't used any of the new skills in the expansion yet, I'm wondering what they can do (and I sadly can't play the game to check yet)

Clockwork Knight gives you some craft-skills and several nice utility skills. It synergies well with smithing and tinkering. Rogue Scientist is basically Clockwork Knight for rogues, with more alchemy/rogueish/wandcrafting-centered skills. Edit: They are both very different though so.
I just use http://j-factor.com/dredmorpedia/ for everything.
Oh man, that's much better than the wiki I was using before. It actually has the new stuff.
What do you want to know? How to steal with it?
What do you mean by this?
Oh man, that's much better than the wiki I was using before. It actually has the new stuff.
Yea, im really lucky I found it on one of the dod spotlight things, so much crafting and mod support.
What do you mean by this?
You can rocket punch the stands out of the shop.
Say, concerning mods, is there a mod that allows "disenchanting" or anything, like breaking something down into magical components?
That runecaster skilltree mod has breaking and combining runes into other runes to make rune traps on the floor- not sure if that's what you wanted when you wanted to get magical components.
I wish you could craft leather belts... I don't think I'm going to find 3 leather belts on floor 7.
I hope the deadshot skill tree is going to be added back into the game at some point, or I can never get the steam achievement for mastering it. It was pretty useless, but they should find some way to improve it instead of removing it.
But it was merged with the crossbow skill tree

Well rogue scientist is good for alchemy since it gives a chance to get alchemical ooze from monsters which I think can be synthesized into a bunch of different reagents.
I really want to just beat the game on going rogue + permadeath once, so I can then screw around on all the other difficulties, using bullshit builds and stuff. Anyone know of some really cheap combination of skills that makes it practically impossible to lose? I'm coming up on 100 hours and I feel like I really should have beaten the game by now. Even died on the second-to-last floor.

You CAN switch items from stall to stall. You can kick stalls over water and sometimes even through walls. Also, sometimes stalls are against the wall, so you can't kick them out BUT, if you have a full inventory and try to pick up something off of a stall, it goes onto the ground beneath you, but brax doesn't block the doorway. After doing this you can then use the dodge jump skill to jump onto the stall (yes, it does work) and then kick away the item and out of the shop. If you're lucky and get some really good stuff this way, the game becomes really easy. Remember to fully clear the floors so you get max exp, making it even easier.
I have this game, Should I play it? Been looking for a game to play next, snagged it in the humblebundle

The last two can be whatever, I used dodge and tinkering. Get the fleshsmithing heal, the golemancy wall, and the ley mana recharge ability early. Basically once things get hard put up walls on the left and right side of each door, open it, and place a third in the middle if necessary. Then proceed to nuke everything inside with whatever. Be sure to prioritize mana regen in your items, until you get it up to six. I actually just beat Dredmor on medium with permadeath with this build. (It was the character I couldn't find any pants for, and yes, I beat him without pants.) [editline]18th June 2012[/editline] Also, you're probably not going to need much food or booze, so you can sell everything but the best stuff.

Ive never gotten past floor 6 on like moderate because my skills are always bad.
whats an good skillset to use with these 4? Accidentally dropped an item in a shop, somehow that made Brax angry. I'm sorry, Brax. I really didn't want to kill you. :( [editline]19th June 2012[/editline] I always though people were exaggerating when they talked about how many dread collectors spawned. Turned out they weren't.
Having my first good run in a while and I just noticed that I have blood magic yet no skills that use mana, not a single skill in any of the trees uses mana. So now I basically have a 6 skilltree run.
If you're going for a melee build, get practical geology. IT IS THE BEES KNEES
Unless you like counters or crits.
If I'm using clockwork + smithing + tinkering is it worth it to get archery as a skill tree? or should I use battle geology instead
Tinkering and crossbows are one of the greatest combos. You won't run out of ammo and you can make better weapons.
Practical Geology's strongpoint is the power boost in the early game, which is the biggest problem for a lot of builds. Shitty luck can make it so you don't have a powerful enough weapon to survive, and plutonic fist offsets that. In the later parts of the game, you can reverse the role of plutonic fist and use it in bosses, making it so that they never crit or counterattack (which means you will never again have to worry about being counterattacked then attacked again, with both of them being crits) Also, archery is okay for a clockwork knight, but keep in mind, clockwork knight is melee-oriented. There's three jump abilities for a reason. On the other hand, with the bonuses from it, you can smith the clockwork rail launcher... With the buff to archery, it wouldn't be far-fetched to make a build that jumps around all over the place while impaling everything with the rail launcher.
It also gives you designs for crafting some fancy ass arrows.
Hey guys, I accidentally rolled with staffs instead of swords for my guy, but his tank/skillshot build seems to work fairly well. Do spears and so on count as staffs? Maybe I can build him with those then
So I found a "Titanium Ring" on the first level. It's worth over 3000 zorkmids, and gives 3 armour absorption. Jesus christ. Fucking hell, Monster Zoo on the first floor. I'm throwing the monsters all over the room. [editline]19th June 2012[/editline] Walking along, drink potion of radiance to see what it does. I'm next to Brax, and now he's pissed, and my armor consists of ninja shoes, a nice linen shirt, a titanium ring, and a towel.
