I was Space Jackie Chan but you don't hear me bitching because they removed that incredibly stupid career choice.

To be fair they did make the game worse, but it isn't a bad game by any means.
I'm a 3 year vet on here, started just before the CU, I'll reactive my account in a few days and join you guys, I used to play on bria until my whole guild jumped ship for WoW
What I remember most about SWG was getting a YT-2400 and littering drink items I bought from a cantina all over the cockpit. I filled every item slot with bottles of alcoholic drinks and lined the bridge with them.
I would have done it with my Y-8 but the bridge was too huge for that.
The fact i keep going back to SWG is the fact it is the only SW mmo out there.
I love the space combat in the game, I've even re-subbed a few times just to fly a Tie Fighter again. The space missions can be really challenging, but they're awesome.
I have never heard of or seen this happen in 6 years of gameplay. All of the GMs i've met have been fair guys.
Nah, he's right, I remember that incident, it was way back, pre-CU, some guys found a hack or an exploit or something and used it to "counterfeit" billions of credits, flooded the market with rampant inflation, bought out vendors, so the GM's had to reset the marketplace and put a credit limit on sales prices, ton of work solving it, and since it was such a long money trail the GM's just banned anyone who had come in contact with a large amount of credits from one of the culprits, so a bunch of innocents who just happened to have their shit bought with bad credits ended up getting banned, they had a giant protest thing, the players were lagging the area and spamming chat and were told to disperse, not everyone did so the GM's started randomly teleporting people into the wilderness, off to like Dathomir, and a few unlucky few got stuck in space. I'll see if I can find the story.
I loved this MMO to death, played since launch, spent hours and hours questing and decorating that veteran yacht and my house on Dantooine, rolled in credits from selling veteran rewards I didn't need lol. CU wasn't that bad, I actually didn't mind, but NGE was what broke the cat's back for me, I ended up quitting because of it. Been following SWGEMU for a while, might go there, but I dunno about having to pay fees and deal with SOE's shit customer service to retrieve my account again.
Edit: I'm not losing it, sources on the protests...

I'm signing up for this. Also has anyone heard of the mod that changes it to pre CU? It's called SWG reborn or something? I can't remember. It looks very promising but it's only in beta. Everyone should try out the beta and tell me what they think.

I played that a few months ago (And i've been on and off on it since 2007).
Not nearly developed enough for smooth gameplay quite yet.

Good to know. I was thinking about getting SWG. The download is going to take 13 hours though. :frown:

I actually remember seeing a couple protests back then, People made macro's that spammed, and they /followed the person in front of them in the crowd, so you had circles of people walking in a circle spamming... It was quite the site. Didn't last long though
People still do that from time to time I believe
You can't talk to people in the trial. This is unfortunate. I will probably end up getting the game anyway. I'm still in the tutorial though.
Zyphelion - Farstar.
Got a goddamn pimped out luxury yacht.

Yes you can. I have talked to almost everyone that's talked to me. Even gold sellers!
Gold Seller: Hi, would you like to purchase 50mil cr for a low price, visit www.somethingsomethingsomething.com
Me: Go eat a fat rancor dick faggot.
It looks like a P2P worth paying for, too bad I don't have the possibility to pay for it :frown:
I loved this game but I just don't have the capacity to play it right now, one MMO subscription is all I can afford.

You can, the chat for trial accounts is just limited. They're doing that to help combat credit farmers.

Oh that's what that message said
I think the most fun I had in SWG in my 5 years or so of playing, was decorating houses, I could spend weeks doing that. You can make major money doing it for other people if you are good too.

Honestly, you really have to spam it to get that message.

I hadn't typed anything. It showed up in the tutorial.

You have to get past the tutorial.
Do a large amount of people still play this game? I remember a large fan base but that was a few years ago.
I would love to play but really I will get bored after a few days. I love having a house and all that and it's very cool to be able to walk around some ships (even have parties on them).
I kinda wish Star Trek Online would have been just like SWG but with the newer engine. *sigh*
Good luck.

It doesn't have nearly as much as it used to, but it's still moderately populated.
Loved this game, used to play for 2 years on and off. Stopped playing just because it felt like I'd been everywhere already and done everything worth doing. Didn't seem like there was a whole lot to do after level 90 if you had already done all the instances and heroics. Really fun game, great times. I always feel like coming back every now and then, but my guild is long gone and truly irreplaceable. Can't possibly express how much love I have for this game, though.
PVP is pretty fun still
