2b2t is so interesting and hard now that there is hunger, you gotta hunt for you food, there's not a lot of mobs around and spiders don't drop strings anymore.

My solution to the hunger problem is making a fishing rod early on and fishing. Works great.
I'm pretty sure he did that on purpose.

The easiest way is to find an abandoned wheat farm near spawn. There aren't a whole lot of them but when there are there's usually something left behind. Take whatever is grown and then plant the seeds, wait until morning and kill whatever skeletons spawned. Use the bones to get bonemeal and grow the wheat. Rinse and repeat until you have enough to get where you're going, about 5 lasted me until 2k where animals started spawning and I could survive off that.

Problem is, whenever I find such farms, there's nothing growing. There's only hoed land. I might become like Johnny Appleseed and start growing wheat and trees all around spawn at some point.

You could always use the bonemeal to grow grass and plant the seeds from that. The whole point of the bonemeal is to get it done quickly because you want to get away from spawn ASAP.
On another thought, the new 2k2k could be a nether base, even less likely to be found.

Oh god I'm barely alive.
I managed to make it back to 2k2k before I died of hunger, and the greifers didn't destroy all of the crops.
I'm saved.
The 2k2k checkpoint got greifed as well sadly, I'll look into repairing it later.

There's barely any damage sans the broken glass roofs.
The lava didn't do all that much considering the base was mostly stone.
However, lets never mention 2k2k in chat again so that people will think it stayed greifed.
Yeah, don't talk about 2k2k anymore except in here. I added it to the rules. I might give the OP a proper update soon.

Been travelling for a while now. I plan on making it to 100k in the next few Minecraft days, but I'm travelling overworld. Encountered some ruins and found a bed to take with me. Once I finish travelling I'll probably post some shots of what I found.
