I can see why this is happening. (thinking of a fix)

I'm wondering how their doing it. I figured they might be making a "slide"/staircase for the lava but yeah whatever. flooding spawn with lava is lane, better to just make walls around spawn and pour lava down the sides.
There's around ten people on getting immediately killed by lava.
Any idea how these people even beat the spawn protection? I haven't played here for a while and my bed is apparently missing. Great.
Edit: after about ten minutes I made it into a little hole, I can hopefully spend hours to punch my way out of cobblestone! Progress.
Edit2: Wait no, its spawn protected.
yeah, try going under spawn. The walls are filled with holes on the underside which is full of water and shit. Try to get to a nether portal, there are dozens just outside the wall
Just a little hesitant to jump back into the lava...
I'll just come back when reddit goes away and the spawn is back to its "normal" self.

Lava casting creates a cobble staircase that allows the lava to flow down into spawn. Since you aren't actually placing the block spawn protection does not block it.
well the server has dropped to around 48 people, so that's about 20 people that left because of lava. i doubt most of them will come back.

Also, I've been putting up a few melon farms around spawn somewhat frequently, so if you've had trouble getting
out you may have better luck at the moment.
