If it's a possible choice, enderchests should be disabled

But... that's not how ender chests work.
Ender chests are local to a user, not the server. So if you put something in an ender chest at base A, [B]you[/B] can take it out of an enter chest at base B. However, if a second person tries to access any ender chest, they will only see their version of the chest, which would be empty, unless they've used it before.

I was simply referring to how you can sleep at your base, walk 50K blocks in search of bases, loot them, fill your ender chest, and then just kill yourself. You'd respawn back at the bed in your base, and you can use the ender chest at your base to withdrawl everything you just looted, saving you the dangerous 50K walk back.

Ah, last I heard they were global, as in anything you put in could be accessed by anyone. Glad to see they made it player-specific.
But then there's the issue that some people have been having with beds, as it's been reported as a bug that if you're too far away from your bed, you won't respawn at your bed at all. Unless they fixed that in 1.3, which is awesome.

Derp, never mind, wiki says they don't drop anything when broken.
Pretty nice though, means I can log out without having to stuff everything of value into my inventory before logging out. Shame you can only put 27 stacks in there though, means you'll be greatly limited in the loot you can protect.

You could put a bunch of TNT in there, go to a base, drop the chest down, and wham, 27 stacks of TNT, excluding the stacks you may already have with you.
