That seems like it would work, but I think that's a little much. Inacio, me, and a few other people had a base at around 100k blocks from spawn for 6+ months, that no one found. Until we decided to give out the coords and kill ourselves. All we did was follow the nether high-way for a while until we found an area in the Nether that wasn't touched by anyone. We then built a bridge across a lava sea and destroyed the bridge as we went. We also didn't build or break any other blocks so everything looked natural, and left the nether portal in a cave, since it wouldn't be likely many people would cross a lava sea or other hard to cross terrain if they didn't see any evidence of a player.
2b2t is fill with hackers xray set to obsidian
Phagocitic, if you're looking for a new host (at any point in time) feel free to PM me and I can set you up with a dedicated box at LSN for free.
Wrong thread?
No? Just making him a offer :)
I think you directed it at the wrong person, housemaster runs 2b2t.
I think you directed it at the wrong person, housemaster runs 2b2t.
Ah, sorry Reag. Not too familiar with who runs it - just saw the plea on the website about how he couldn't pay for it anymore and wanted to pitch in.
The serious problem of hosting 2b2t is the world size. Moving that pretty much requires a physical moving.
The serious problem of hosting 2b2t is the world size. Moving that pretty much requires a physical moving.
Yeah, I know. Moving it would be a hassle but still do-able :) It's up to him, I wouldn't mind helping out and paying for a box. I'm already giving out thousands of dollars a month in free game servers on FP and other places. [editline]30th August 2012[/editline] Eh, I'll just do this instead: [img_thumb]http://i46.tinypic.com/169m4qt.png[/img_thumb]
2b2t is fill with hackers xray set to obsidian
They would still have to walk a ways and pass large lava pits before they could see the portal. There was very little chance anyone would find our portal without knowing where it was.
Eh, I'll just do this instead
Many thanks! I think now that two months are secured, it needs new/more players. I'm planning to do some hardware upgrades in september or october, but this depends on how lively the server is
If you made a plugin/script that completely removed all blocks in the spawn protection area every hour it would probably help. There's nothing like being trapped inside unbreakable cobblestone to put a new player off the server.

When I started playing the spawn was all bombed looking but there was still structures amid st the destruction, the spawn was i think surrounded by a wall, but you could easily get out. Seeing those structures made the server feel like what it was supposed to be, a pvp no rules server. People just living right at spawn and then getting demolished, I don't know what spawn looks like at the moment but If I was a new player and was stuck in spawn surrounded by giant stone mountains with lava pouring down them, idk it would be a neat sight but I would rather see destroyed buildings and castles at spawn like the old days.
I think I'm just being paranoid here but... what if I did this? 1) Walk the nether roof 2) Put a portal on top of nether roof 3) Set up a base in overworld, put down a bed and sleep in it to set my spawn point 4) Get a diamond pick 5) Walk back through the portal 5) End up in a nether portal that is under the roof 6) Glitch my way on top of the roof 7) Mine the top portal 8) Die, respawn in the overworld 9) Get another diamond pick 10) Go through portal, exit at bottom nether portal. 11) Go under the place I died, and wait 2 minutes for items to despawn 12) Go to the place where I glitched to the top of the roof and remove all signs of my activity 13) Mine the bottom nether portal 14) jump into lava Result: Absolutely zero evidence left in the Nether.
Very very unlikely, just in theory you can be traced (not sure if this is right word) by speed of chunk loading. Already explored chunks are loading a bit faster than newly generated. Again, it's may be hard to notice.
So after setting up a base at 1.5 million, where nobody could find me, I realized something. What's the point of playing multiplayer if you are never going to see another player?
So after setting up a base at 1.5 million, where nobody could find me, I realized something. What's the point of playing multiplayer if you are never going to see another player?
That's the reason I purpously live within 5k of spawn, you can't live in the same place for long and its less singleplayer-with-chat.
So after setting up a base at 1.5 million, where nobody could find me, I realized something. What's the point of playing multiplayer if you are never going to see another player?
I just use my house as a place to get minerals and shit so when somebody reveals their coords, I have the stuff to go and hunt them down. And if I die, I go back to my house.
I quite like playing single player with chat. It's a lot more interesting than playing single player on your own since there's always something going down. Maybe get a couple of friends to join and help you make shit?
So after setting up a base at 1.5 million, where nobody could find me, I realized something. What's the point of playing multiplayer if you are never going to see another player?
I'll reply with something that I posted a couple pages back:
I am one of 'those' players that are a significant distance out from spawn. Not as far as 100k, but a significant amount. While it is true that it's basically single player, I do it for two reasons: 1. If I ever get bored of just building, I can travel back to spawn and steal some supplies for some free stuff/building materials. 2. I build structures above ground. Although it is safer in single player, no one gets to appreciate your work. The best thing about 2b2t is knowing that eventually, yes, I'm going to get bored of playing on this server. But when that happens, eventually somebody will stumble on what I've built and appreciate it. As opposed to single player, where once I get bored with a server it's gone forever. Imagine if more people played 'singleplayer' while logged into 2b2t. There would be so much more ruins to explore.
Although 1.5 Mil is kinda overkill. I'm within 50k of spawn and we have a massive above ground castle and it hasn't been discovered for several months now. I we also have some lone bedrock-level base <10k from spawn which has been undiscovered for ~14 months now. The trick to surviving is to not be a dumbass with the nether. Rule 1. Never leave evidence in the nether. Nether gates are a big no no. Cobblestone and dirt paths over lava lakes are a runner up. Rule 2. Never build on a lone axis. You could go 5 mil out, it still wouldn't save you if your coords are (x = 5,000,000 z = 0). By not being a dumbass it's perfectly feasible to have an above ground base < 20k from spawn go undiscovered for months.
I have only been found once (found many large bases which were already raided though) below 30k and it wasn't bad enough. Only bed and decoy bed were destroyed as well as a small safehouse. Enchantment tables were stolen too. Nothing else. Still use the same base.
I live at 110k (not lone axis) with 4 others, and a few other people on thier way. I have lived in 3 bases; BOD headquarters 6k, a small base at 21k, and Divercity 134k BOD HQ lasted about a month, to the best of my knowledge the small base at 21k is still standing. Divercity lasted about 3-4 months but fell because omaliymix gave out the Coords to One too many people. The 'Shroom where I live is 110k, has 5 residents and is about 2 months old. The trick is only trusting new players you help yourself and people you know personally. New players are desperate for help and purpose. No way in hell I'd ever trust an oldfag. The policy on the island is kill on sight, unless they're on the list of people allowed to live on the island. We have a 7 way conversation on Skype (not spoken, typed) I'm going to see if I can get an alt so I can start at spawn and grab 2 new recruits under a different name I just really need. More man power and more regular players. Don't bother asking to join, I choose who can come, you ask me, there's no chance of you being admitted [editline]31st August 2012[/editline] Also, do maps work now? I made one ages ago and it was completely broken( showed a desert when I was in the middle of an ocean)
Why is it so hard to get out of the spawn? I died like 200 times trying, all of starvation. Any tips?
Weren't you the guy who actually left because I told you to?
Weren't you the guy who actually left because I told you to?
I don't think so... Someone actually said gtfo when i first joined the server, but i kept trying to leave the spawn for one hour or so until i rage quit.
imagine 2b2t with Tekkit the quantum clad horror!

Don't bother fighting other players, if they hit you, keep walking, unless you get a chance to knock them off a cliff or such. Try to get string from spiders, hole up at night inside of a dirt box/ tard pillar, find all burning mobs at dawn and collect the drops. Good luck Also, try heading in an x+,z- direction
yeah i managed to eat zombie flesh once, but the lag is a pain in the ass.
The lag shouldn't be too much of a problem unless you get in a fight.
