So I managed to find some diamond tools and some melons near spawn. No idea who left that chest, but thanks. It gets night and I'm not using the nether, so I start tunneling instead of walking. Cue block lag and I suffocate before I realize what happened.
I literally cannot get out of spawn with this lag. It is impossible.

anyway, you always need a stack of blocks and water bucket in your hot bar, doesnt matter if it's in the chest, when it's a couple seconds that matter, he doesn't have time to put down the chest, get the blocks, and place.

It's supposed to be called Nocheat but I wouldn't suggest using it. It stops fly and speed but it's a buggy, unstable piece of shit that constantly fucks with people that don't actually hack.
Are there any good plugins to just stop people from flying?

I never understand why people with large/very lived in bases still grow melons, it's such a crappy food source. I just breed billions of cows and kill them with lava, cooks the meat and gives me the leather for books.

Melons are the most convenient food source because you don't have to do any replanting after you harvest them.
Plus you can auto-harvest them with pistons.

Combine 9 melons into a square melon->unsquare when you want to eat->profit.
Or carry 2 bowls and a stack of each mushroom.
Or just sit at your base and don't do anything at all so you don't need food.
