Yeah me and my friend are trying to get to the 2k2k to help fix it and live for a while, but getting there is proving to be a real challange
I live close to 2k2k, even if it's just a crater I will leave some bread laying around.
I'll also post a video of how to get there. It's actually really easy if you know the way.

The scene where the kid and the dad find the bunker with food was how i felt when i saw 2k2k the first time.
x0XP had sent me back to spawn and i regrouped with a few friends we wandered the wateland, gathering food and iron/diamonds.
then as we were on our final porkchops and night was fall and the mobs began to creep from the shadows, we saw a door in the mountain saide. We had unwittingly found 2k2k.
That was a month and a half ago.
I am honestly sad it is gone
That place had history. It let me leapfrog all the way out to where omal is now

Did they change the mob spawning algorithm or something? I built a mob grinder but nothing seems to be spawning in it. :/

Yep, it's changed. Jeb tweaked it so that mobs don't spawn continuously. You have to be like very close or something near the mob spawner for it to work. In my SSP world, I have to wait near the spawner to spawn alot of mobs. I usually go AFK whilst it does this.
Finally made it to 2k2k and its gone.
If there's a new base can i have the coords?
Spawn is nice now, people made a tunnel exit, ive repair parts of the wall and made a portal, but Wndash came in with full diamond armour and wants to block off spawn with obsidian. He attacked me, so I logged out, I have a diamond pic so I should be able to remove it if he does it.

Note: Wndash have not blocked up spawn with obby, he lava flooded exits but I manage to fix one of them, he greifed a spawn base CrashQ and I made (I got pics of it, will upload them later), but we managed to give food and other supplies to newbies before Wndash, Poliecmike and some others raided us. I managed to escape though. (Not sure if wndash has blocked up spawn yet though)
I'm new to 2b2t and having trouble getting about 2k blocks away from spawn, I keep dying, I walk but the jumping ruins my hunger bar
I'll go back and restore the nether portals.

There are nether portals right at spawn, i fixed a couple of them up.

As long as you have a bit of food, you should be able to follow any of those random, precarious 1-block-wide bridges or tunnels and you will eventually find a portal. There are also plenty of various tunnels in the ceiling and bottom of the nether that lead who knows where... that's the fun in exploring 8)
Spawn is flat o.o.
