If he's successfully living with 9 other people without incident then I don't see the problem. My first settlement had 14 people living in it, half of which were refugees from another base that was raided and I told them "Yeah, sure, come on in".

Is anyone else getting a silly amount of Iron helmets, shovels, swords and ingots from their EXP farms? Running out of storage room for them.

I'm getting bows, arrows and bones, but those are actually pretty useful. It seems like the helmets could just be enchanted at a low level until you get a diving helmet, and the shovels are good for digging. I guess, if you wanted to, you could shorten the 22-23 block drop to around 14-15 and use the swords.
I dont get the point of making a base like miles from spawn on your own and living in isolation and never seeing another person.

Late post I guess but no one really answered this question with technical information. Thus, me.
You only place a portal in the nether at 0,0 (assuming y is equivalent as well for simplicity), and you [b]don't[/b] place a portal in the overworld at 0,0. Upon taking the nether portal, the game will calculate the resulting coordinates in the overworld: 0*8,0*8 = 0,0. Then it will search within a 33x33x128 block height [b]centered[/b] on that coordinate set for the closest "decent location" from the coordinates (spherically) to generate a nether portal. Now the odds that 0,0 happens to be a perfect spot for a portal are pretty slim. So you end up with a portal which might be as far away as 33 blocks.
In the overworld, this isn't a big deal because 33 blocks translating back to the nether coordinates is within 4-5 blocks from your original portal. But when you create a portal in the overworld and go into the nether, you can offset your resultant portal by an equivalent [b]33 * 8 = 264[/b] blocks in the overworld, which is why it can be very common (around spawn anyway) to create a portal, go into the nether, and come back into the overworld through a completely different portal, hundreds of blocks away.

The beauty of the server is using that base as a start point for raiding expeditions to other bases.

Me and some of my friends were going to start playing this server, but were greeted by 4 dicks camping the spawn with full diamond armor and swords. We were also spawning in lava.

this is particularly annoying because I was having a great time in this server, I died and found out some asshole had poked my bed so my spawnpoint was broken and now I just think this is a terrible server

Thought I might correct that seeming now it's probably fallen to the ground. All-in-all I can't wait to get my legit copy of Minecraft and play 2b2t, sounds like good fun, I got lots of build ideas too so I see this as a challenge to refine my builds and ideas until I can make my impregnable fortress completely attacker proof, which will take a damn long time, no doubt, but a challenge I'm willing to accept nonetheless. Been experimenting with piston traps. Alot of piston traps.
