Enderman may attack you if you get close/look at them. Even with full diamond armor and such I never attack more then two at a time.

My friend and I went out to gather supplies for the Sanctuary and stumbled onto an abandoned, overgrown mushroom farm that had almost 180 mushrooms. We took them and headed back to make mushroom stew.
Nothing matters here now that the server's just delaying it's doomsday of not reaching the donations it needs. You can actually see the server losing population, many people left. Used to top at least 80+.

Yea, but there is still like 23 days or something of the month left for people to donate, and as long as people have at least helped pay for the server, like at least half of the cost or more, than it wont be that big of a expense for house. If no one donates than yea, house might not be able to keep the server running for long. Its a shame to see the server pop dwindle back down to 20 or so players, but those are the people who are dedicated long time players mostly.

And if it goes down, who cares? Anyone who plays a lot like most of us posting here build FAR out of the way in new chunks. I've found a few bases, greifed them here and there but I never heard anyone coplain.
Well I finally reached Flamereaper66's mushroom biome island. He headed off to some summer camp and wanted someone to manage his island while he was gone. (3 Weeks) We've been talking through Skype for the past week on and off about his island, and he finally asked if i'd babysit for him. The only downside is that he's not a man of aesthetics. (Decorating is ehh) I plan on renovating while he's gone, if anyone has any tips or anything that'd be cool. Don't ask for coords, it's not gonna happen.

I hear multiple nether portals and large bridges to the mainland are very much in vogue this season.
This place really is nice though, no worries about aggressive mobs, the greyish/pink with red is really nice on the eyes.
In order to keep the "natrual look of the island" I would start to set the mooshrooms free.
Subsequently I would use TNT to blow holes into the island's surface to worship the earth and emphasize on the natrual beauty of the island.
After that, construct an enormous monument of a defecating walrus, with a nether portal as the rectum.
Once it is finished, encase the area around it in obsidian with netherrack on top, which you ignite in order to make your island visible far and wide (to aliens, of course [gonna be included in 1.3]).
To accentuate the rural scenery, breed wolves and spiders and use dirt to create fake dog turds on all streets and walkways.
And finally, to add a modern overtone, build a big glass aquarium around Flameraper's house and fill it up with water. This way, he won't be directly confronted with all the changes on his island when spawning, but slowly wake up in the relaxig tranquility of a water temple.
Oh, and make lava ponds above his chests to keep them save from griefers.

Flamereaper66 wanted suggestions on what to build houses out of because it's hard to match anything aftermarket in the mushroom biome. I did some tests in singleplayer and wood came out the best looking. Plus because the mushroom biome is odd and quirky; an odd and quirky house would fit in.

The reason there is literally no decoration is because I got there literally a few days ago and have probably spent all of 4 hours on the island. And that time has been spent setting up food supplies and gathering building materials. Function over form in my book. Then form gets worked on.
Still I love the look of mushroom biomes.

Yup. Don't run, don't jump, don't swim and you can make it like 1200 blocks at least.
You can make it much farther than 1200 blocks. I believe that you lose your first hunger after walking for 800 blocks, which of course decreases after the first one. There's some nice gents that are making obsidian bases around spawn (really close too) with wheat/melon/cane farms. It's easier than ever to survive.
