Since I'm going to start playing Shogun 2 soon, should I play the game with Darthmod first or experience the vanilla game?

TBH, Shogun 2 doesn't even really need Darthmod, try Vanilla first.

Grab some Radious mods and an extended campaign mod instead
Only thing I would really change in FOTS is that diplomacy needs some tweaking, especially with realm divide events.
Playing Empire as Savoyen holy fuck this is so much fun take this North Africa
Playing Darthmod Napoleon Total war. If anything it makes the game shittier, the fucking naval battles are atrociously boring and filled with bullshit. It takes like 10 minutes to turn a First rate 180 degrees. In one battle the HMS Victory broadsided a 3rd rate with 50 cannons and it scarcely scratched it. The same thing happened later against their flagship at point blank, which then broadsided from further away my rear, killed 50 something men, caught the ship on fire, put me on orange damage levels and left my ship routing. Its about as satisfying as trying to cut a piece of wood in half with a scalpel.
Also, the launcher is pretty shit and pointless as the options don't appear to be working properly when you try to change them.
Tried Empire Total War again.
ugh i want to love it but it wont love me back.
The shooting in the game is p. shitty compared to FOTS :(
I like the range on FotS, but I almost prefer Napoleon's shooting. They seem a bit more willing to fire on Napoleon, but they are amazing on FotS when you have kneel fire.

On the other hand Kneelfire is infuratingly hard to get working quickly, if you press it before the entire unit has locked into place then they fucking change angle 90 degrees and you have to click it again before dragging them back, which is exposing yourself to another volley of fire. Its takes extra time to get soldiers to fire even if you click it at the right time as well.
I love this game to death (shogun 2), but GOD DAMN does the AI piss me off with its' cheating.
Slowly picking away at a Clan over a couple years, I've finally gotten them beaten down to one province. They're surrounded by enemies, obviously low on funds, and desperately outnumbered. I had even just decimated their army and killed their leaders. I Start moving the primary army up towards their last city. Then... (all in the same turn) Suddenly a monk shows up and bribes my backup army defending the side-entrance to my territory- And wins! It must have cost 1000+ G with 9 units. He then proceeds to use this army over the next couple turns to take two of my five provinces from me, which were lightly defended after bundling them all up into that very army. Backup never arrives in time.
After this, two large armies stroll out of the fog of war from the front. One slips RIGHT past my army standing on a bridge (somehow), preventing their retreat, while the other blocks me in from the front. The army is now unable to move and horribly outmatched and numbered by at least 2.5:1.
Where the FUCK did the AI get enough money to bribe my mid-sized army and also produce two fully stacked armies to challenge my main, ALL IN ONE TURN?!
BULLSHIT I TELL YOU!
Bullshit.
Anyone have a list of good user made maps?I cant find many in the workshop,

Good looking:
Helms Deep
Tortuous ways* (it is a fair bit plain in an area on one side but it has a gorgeous forest next to a big cliff face with white beach below in the middle of the map that is incredibly fun to fight over)
Imperial City Streets
Mountain Marsh*
Generally just fun (but still pleasant to look at):
No Mans land WW1 (might be trenches of deceit though)
Iwo Jima
Both Koufoujuki maps*
Hill of Massacre* (by far the best massacre simulator map, even comes with a set of fancy enterable buildings at the top)
Fort Yotishatama or something
Those marked with * are my favourites.
when it comes to vanilla maps, I prefer rice fields
just love settling up gatling guns on the far side, then having a full stack of katana kachi rush my position and be slaughtered
yeah it's sadistic but it's hilarious

You can turn on the ability prior to the beginning of battle and they'll be able to do it at a moment's notice. Plus, it doesn't lock units in stationary mode for some bizarre reason so it's easy to move them around when desired.

For me it's the other way around. I like the strict roles and the "just shoot your shit" in Empire while in Shogun 2 FOTS everything seems to move fast as fuck, I can't see shit due to stupidly huge trees everywhere and I never get used to the different names. Yari what? Can't just name them "sword dudes"?

I was glad to see the Britons being given their own character, in Rome they just felt like reskinned Gauls IMO.

It is fairly accurate though, they put clay in their hair. And as a Roman legionnaire, these guys coming at you with their spiked demon horns would scare you quite a bit!

To be honest, as a legionnaire you're standing in a wall made of the finest, most honourable men of the Mediterranean, backed by the immense glory, wealth and industry that is Rome. Hard to become afraid if you know that.
[sp]yes I'm a bit of a Rome fanboy[/sp]
Ah, can't fucking wait for Rome II. My new computer should be ready by the time it comes out, and then I'll be enjoying those 80,000 man battles.

Wasn't that the Gauls?
Wasn't that the Gauls?
When the Romans first landed in Britain, the Druids were all standing on the beach, completely naked and covered in paint. The story goes that the Romans stayed in their ships from fear of the druids until a Vexilarius threw his banner ashore, forcing the legions to protect it.
