Feels so good getting a successful flanking cavalry charge on a group of enemies. But yeah I always remember them going in and causing destruction, but after that I would see a lot of them die, perhaps it was because i didnt retreat them out after the first charge
Will someone teach me how to use cavalry in all of these games. No matter what I do they always seem to get stuck inside enemy units and die in copious amounts.
Don't charge the front, especially not into muskets. Don't charge into spears/pikes. Use cavalry to snipe weak units (archers, skirmishers, peasants), put heavy cavalry in front of light cavalry when charging, use infantry to pin enemy for cavalry charges. Spam click past units once you've finished your charge. Always attack from flanks, or the rear. Use cavalry to intercept enemy cavalry before they charge into your infantry.
It's hilarious how butthurt everyone on the TW forums is about the Iceni being in Rome II. Edit: That would be the TWcenter forums, actually. My mistake.
What's the problem with the Iceni?
What's the problem with the Iceni?
People are saying that they're completely insignificant and taking up space where "real" factions could have been put in the game. I don't agree with them, of course.
I fail to see what other Briton tribe could take their place. Total War Center is just absolute garbage.
Good for mods but everything else is blergh. The screenshots section or slap a photoshop filter on and call it art.
Good for mods but everything else is blergh. The screenshots section or slap a photoshop filter on and call it art.
I honestly feel bad for some of the modders, for having to deal with such an absolutely shit audience.
I honestly feel bad for some of the modders, for having to deal with such an absolutely shit audience.
I used to think that Darth was an asshole, then I saw his audience. That poor man.
Will someone teach me how to use cavalry in all of these games. No matter what I do they always seem to get stuck inside enemy units and die in copious amounts.
Depends on what game. For the most part, Cavalry are hit and run units. The exception being shogun 2 total war where Katana cavalry can do pretty well in a prolonged melee fight as they can charge Head on into Katana samurai and beat them. Lancers have a charge bonus, Heavy cavalry usually have better melee attack and defence, light cavalry are usually faster. Against melee oriented infantry (light infantry (rome, med 2), heavy infantry, spearmen, line infantry), you really only charge into the flanks or rear with cavalry and then pull out soon after the charge and repeat. While against missile units (archers, arquebusiers, Light infantry (empire, Napoleon), slingers) You can pretty much beat them by charging head on into them, although it is risky with more modern riflemen units in Napoleon and Fall of the Samurai. I usually mass armies of spearmen, heavy infantry, archers, line infantry in all the total wars since they do most of the killing I find. Then maybe 1, 2 or 3 cavalry to out flank units and run down routing units.
loadsa line infantry, loadsa artillery, and some specialized melee thrown in here and there gets the job done most times
Don't forget those russian militia melee units in empire. They're hilariously successful at fighting.
cossack infantry spam in multiplayer is hilarious when you do it unexpectedly
Don't forget those russian militia melee units in empire. I thought they had muskets, but then I zoom in and see these huge fucking bardiches swinging all over the place, hacking everyone down.
I fail to see what other Briton tribe could take their place. Total War Center is just absolute garbage.
TWC is so bad before I got adblock I caught a fake anti-virus from one of its adverts that took hours to get rid of by finding it with an AV engine.
Oh god Ottomans are really hard to play as in Empire. Everyone declared war on me as soon as I started.
Learning about the French revolution in social studies this year makes me want to go back and play through Napoleon: Total War again. I never realized how arrogant Napoleon became after his victories across Europe. Seriously goes to show how much power can corrupt.
Anyone know how to add a unit to Medieval II? I have all the information and everything, I just don't know what to do with it.
Anyone know how to add a unit to Medieval II? I have all the information and everything, I just don't know what to do with it.
There's about a million and a half guides to how to do this, just google them

On the other hand, The USA would also only be on the east coast. I'm kind of glad he was an insanely ambitious man, since it also created the German state inadvertently. Killing the HRE, the rise of Prussia as holding most of North Germany, without the HRE, unification becomes a major issue, blah blah. [editline]20th February 2013[/editline] Also, we totally got the Career of Sean Bean. That's probably the most important one out of that all.
Yeah it's really interesting how a lot of what has happened after the french revolution can be linked back to it. Such as the Franco-Prussian war, German unification, WW1, etc. Pretty interesting to see the origin of so much in the modern age in a big event like that
I feel a bit like you guys are giving a link in a chain too much attention. The British russophilic trends and the moronic austrians and pretty much everything else had just as much to do with WW1. We only can say that event x played this and this role, everything else is speculation.
I would totally be down for Bronze Age: Total War. Think about it, 20 Greek factions, Assyrians, Hittites, Phoenicians, actual Celts. There could even be a Trojan war scenario.
20 Greek factions? It would be Shogun 2 all over again..
No way man, they were waaaay different. What are barbarian tactics as opposed to roman's
What are barbarian tactics as opposed to roman's
Romans are Stand in line and throw stuff at the enemy, preparing for when they charge to get you to stop throwing stuff at them, all while they have cav sneak around. And Barbarian is just going through to the front and charging, or ambushes in forests. You can't really point at Barbarians and ask a single tactic, since they all fought differently depending on the Terrain or general location.
What are barbarian tactics as opposed to roman's
Harass with skirmishers, break off a part of their regimented army and wreck their shit.
I think Native American tribes from settling the continent north to south until the arrival of the first settlers would be pretty rad. [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline] Launch screaming women. Thousands.
