Ffs guys, the hardcoded limit for biological children is 4. Though I'm not sure if you can adopt more. Cut it out with the disagrees if you don't have any basis for a counterargument.

I don't think diplomacy got fixed until empire, while I adore rome and mtw2 diplomacy always seemed buggered.

Empire? FIXED? Hahhaha.
"You're willing to pay 50k for 2 technologies? Fuck you, we'll give you jamaica instead"
You guys seem to actually get good deals from the AI in Empire. All I ever get is Poland willing to give me 2000 gold for like abolition of slavery. The worst is during wars where I capture all of their provinces except one and push for peace, then they demand like half of my territories in exchange.
"You've taken half of our territories and totally broken the back of our economy by blocking off all of our trade routes? We'll only accept peace if you pay us a kajillion dollars and give us all your provinces sans your capital"

Yeah but it's better than "Oh hey ally, don't mind that full stacked army of doom on your border, definitely not going to attack you for seemingly no reason"
Back when I played Rome I always made sure the heir to the throne was a direct descendent of my original ruler following a bloodline of all males, even if he wasn't necessarily the most fit ruler. Did anybody else do that?

Shogun 2 might as well be called 'Lose Your Generals: Total War'
Some players in multiplayer are horrifically incompetent.
I literally sent a yari ki unit around the enemy army and charged his general when he wasn't looking.
Started playing R:TW two days ago. I just managed to route an invading army of 8 units of Gauls with four units of Town Watch and two generals. I guess they are more than cannon fodder after all.

I went my whole game playing as Uesugi Kenshin being my general. I fought almost every single battle with him throughout the game and became shogun as him. Only lost one battle.
Needless to say he was the ultimate badass by the end.

I played a guy who had nothing but archery cav and ninjas.
I figured I was fucked, because I can only fight yurop style, but he employed the time-proven mongol method of "run around in front of them shooting arrows and then impale yourself on their spears"

Another favorite hobby of mine (which only 1 out of 10 people actually employ ingame) is the problem of archers vs guns.
Everybody knows archers have a bigger range, so some stupid players have massive armies of them to assail forts. I basically pull them back from the walls, then bring them back up to them to shoot the archers that have moved closer. When they climb up the actual walls, I pull back my men and shoot the people as they climb over the top.
Also remember to keep a cavalry unit on hand for attacking their artillery or something by sneaking out the fort. If you have an artillery unit yourself, always aim for the general.
Using these tricks and ruses, you can make any "master player" lose their shit.
My fondest memory is when a guy who had double the rank I did, had his general killed by a well placed cannonball and he ragequit.
That's a very easy strategy to counter though
Probably because I main a Sengoku army

A real master player would keep his archers at max range, and firearm units can't shoot until the entire squad is at the wall
Any tips on how to play as the Ikko Ikki on VH mode? Every clan's borderline hostile at the start, which means no alliances/trade. Expand westward? The clan you hit drags 3 of his allies in. Expand eastward? Good luck with Hojo and Takeda. Can't afford to bribe for alliance break, monk actions always fail, loan sword ashigaru are garbage with low armor/morale and high upkeep. Warrior monks are their only decent elite unit but have the armor of wet tissue paper, not that i'm complaining.
Best part? By turn 20 every clan somehow decides to cease hostility and gang up on the clan with 3 provinces.
Completed Shimazu/Chosokabe/Date on VH, but they were the easiest clans with OP bonuses and good locations (katana/bow/no-dachi samurai with reduced upkeep and 1 build turn at the start? Oh yeah). I like a challenge and all, but this "gang up on the human" shit is annoying as fuck.

Reminds me of a time in Medieval 2, when I offered Moors map information in exchange of map information.
They weren't completely satisfied with the offer, and gave me one I couldn't refuse:
