So how do you get railroads up? I got the tech to build that National Railroad thing, but I don't know where to build it.
You can only build railroads in some regions sadly.
Summer 1868. My vassals the Tanegashima decided to betray me. They invaded Nagasaki held by 150 levies, and lost 1000 men in the process. Within a turn, the province rebelled against them, my navy wiped out theirs and then blockaded their port. Followed by besieging Nagasaki, they asked me for peace. Bahahahahaha.
The naval battles are so much fun.
The naval battles are awesome, I love seeing the ironclad shrugging of barrages from other ships. Also the music is orgasmic. Last time I had heard some proper Japanese music was a long long time ago on the Xbox 1 when playing Otogi (also I'm quite sure I heard a track that was the exact same as one from Otogi, got a damn nostalgia bomb right there).
Not going to lie, this is the best expansion ever
7 of the most powerful wooden steamships. They all bomb Tanegashima capital. Jesus christ, they just wiped them out. I am never going anywhere without my navy again. My only real regret with Total war games as of recent is that they keep reducing the number of factions you can play as. I wish you could play as all factions, like in Medieval 2 Total war for example.

How similar are the tactical battles to Empire Total War? Any significant changes aside from call-in artillery?
Yeah, I imagine a lot of people want to play as the Obama faction.
They were a preorder bonus for... Retail I think? They'll be released later as DLC no doubt like the Shogun 2 preorder factions. I much preferred it in the older Total Wars where you unlocked a faction by defeating them. (Or editing a file)
Yeah, I imagine a lot of people want to play as the Obama faction.
Armies and armies of US marines...
Another 5 gig patch...you've got to be fucking kidding me. Stuck with 100kb internet atm and I have no idea what my download limit is.
Would anybody like to help me out on getting Shogun 2 The Fall of The Samurai? I have exactly $18.95 left on my card and if you sign up through this link http://www.greenmangaming.com/?gmgr=kewuqusi on Greenmangaming and buy anything worth $2 or more , we both get a credit of $2. Fall Of The Samurai is also only $19.79 on that site btw. I hate begging but seeing that I'm only less then a $1 from getting it and I don't get paid till another month makes me sad. Also if you like I can give you a copy of CSS for a thank you gift.

He begged for peace 3 times before I took the pictured city, because I had spent 20 turns building up my economy and I wanted some action. He counter attacked with a bigger force while the castle was at 100% damage caused by bombardment a few turns before, so I was just defending a ruin. I beat him anyway thanks to the Yari Ki routing a load of his militia and the fact that all of my Line Infantry were vets. [editline]25th March 2012[/editline]
How similar are the tactical battles to Empire Total War? Any significant changes aside from call-in artillery?
Guns do a lot more damage with every volley, Cannons are 10x more lethal, and it takes a lot less time to get units into firing position. Oh and Cavalry commonly wipe out entire units of line infantry in a single charge. Imagine every Elephant charge in every Total War game you've played, and think about what it would be like if they were twice as fast, cause twice as many casulties and cost half the price.
Except you can't strap a cannon to a horse. Elephants4lyfe
So I just had my FIRST naval battle on Fall of the Samurai. I was about to take out the last enemy ship with my torpedo boat until I found out you can control the ships with third person too! as soon as the torpedo was about to hit the ship. I got the Battlefield 1942 trailer straight into my head. I bought every single fucking wooden frigate I could, and every ironclad I could. (For a navy of 12 heavy bastards) This navy proceeded to move outside a coastal town, which I besieged with an army consisting half of armstrong guns. When I started the battle, I used my naval strike on the enemy army. My computer froze for about 5 minutes, and the enemy lost 1000 men. Also the general of this army owns an accordion and a pickelhaube. He sits on a hill playing it as 100s of shells rain down on the enemy army and the US Marines mow down any survivors with 102% accuracy rates and not needing to reload. This is the future of warfare.
Very Hard Difficulty Enemy arrives at my port with 3 Ships. I attack with 4 ships. 2 of his ships explode in combat. I still have all of my ships. Battle over, Heroic Victory. He magically still has 3 ships. Not to mention every naval combat I've fought in my campaign consisted of the AI retreating to the corner of the map, hugging the boundary and withdrawing if I began to win.
Fools think they can hide, pfft.

I think this new installment is just ridiculously fun because of the amount of pure, unadulterated DEVASTATION you can rain down upon your enemies. Also, when was the Maxim machine-gun invented?
Armies and armies of US marines...
Oh god, if there was a little side campaign where you played as a foreign power and tried to get more influence in Japan than the other foreign powers I would play the hell out of that.
Also, when was the Maxim machine-gun invented?
1880s.
So after loading up shogun 2 after the update for Fall of the Samurai, it takes a couple of minutes to pass the splash screen with the logos, choosing DX11 or 9 makes no difference. Anyway to fix this? because I'm pretty sure before the update it loaded up a lot faster and didn't take minutes every time I opened it.
Playing siege battle, outnumbered three to one kill about half of the enemy force before they corner and try to kill my avatar down to just him, no body guards dismount pulls out pistol lucky shot, kills enemy general entire enemy army routs. He raged pretty hard at that.
