Ninjas maybe?
God damn they ramped the difficulty up compared to the earlier games. Every faction I've tried so far, minus Shizuma, gets declared by all it's neighbors by turn 3.
Ninjas maybe?
Nope, the battle had gone into the routing stage and there was no way Ninja's could of reached him anyway.
What are the pros, and cons between the French, British, and American nations in Fall of the Samurai? I've been looking for any information on this both in the in-game encyclopedia, and on google. It's seriously not explained anywhere.

British:
Royal Marines have a mix of good accuracy and melee attack/defense.
The Warrior class is the best ship in the game.
French:
Infanterie De Marine are the most accurate of the Western Mercenaries, and they have the best reloading speed thanks to their bolt action rifles, but they have the worst melee attack/defense.
L'ocean class is the second best ship in the game.
American:
United States Marines have the best melee attack/defense of the Western Mercanaries but the least accuracy/reloading skill. Also the cheapest.
Roanoke class is the cheapest Western Ironclad, and is fairly effective.
You get an artillery accuracy buff.

American ships and units are generally third tier. French ships are second best with British having the best ships. The best units are the French ones with second best being British. Americans have an artillery accuracy bonus if your hire them tho.
That's what I know so far.
I just experienced realm divide after taking Kyoto and the 2 cities next to it, suddenly rebellion's in all three and 6 clans declare war on me simultaneously in the next turn.
Most of my armies in the area are spread too thin, my navy isn't in range for bombardment and I the rebellions are almost full stacks of line infantry/Yari Ki. Shit.
I hate how half the challenge in this game is fighting off rebellions every turn and having to spend half your budget on repairing the damage on your economical workhouse structures and troop upkeep in area's where settlements aren't otherwise under threat.
Felt bored so I decided to Create a custom battle with around 15 armstrong guns, and the rest being Line infantry/Sharpshooters, Yari Ki and Tosa Riflemen, And then made 2 opposing armies "Rise of the Samurai" factions and giving them full stacks of Spearmen. needless to say. there were FUCKTONS of corpses and craters on the ground
Will have images in around an hour or so, Currently uploading my whole Shogun 2 screenshot folder from steam onto my Imgur account
At the moment, have a screenshot of my glorious battle of around 30 armstrong guns and 10-20 tosa Rifleman/Line infantry against a full stack of Spear cavalry

Have to admit those armstrong guns are terrifying.
In ntw i just ignored most cannon fire into my advancing lines, but it seems armstrong guns blow your lines to bits in no time at all.
Anyone here up for some multiplayer matches? I tried my first few, I got raped.

I'd be interested

Just message me whenever on steam if you're up for it

I like that artillery in FotS basically completely invalidates castles.
Y'know what? We should have a Total War game that's focused entirely on going up the ranks of Military prowess. Start off a couple decades before Rome's fall, pick a country and stick with it until the 1950s. Sort of like Civilization, but actually allows you to engage in Military Combat.

Would be way too fucking complex.
wowowow my general just defected to obama and he took the HMS warrior and half my army with him

Try this:
1. Play Civilization V
2. Whenever a battle happens, pause, then take a couple period-accurate action figures and mash them together while making fighty sounds.
Because this is exactly how much they would have to dumb down the gameplay mechanics to fit that much content into a single development cycle.

It would be a huge project. Not impossible, but CA alone wouldn't manage (unless they hired or cooperated with a lot of other developers).
Anyone want to set up a Facepunch clan on Shogun 2? Facepunch Studios on Steam isnt very active. I would gladly make the Group and such. just send me a message and I would reply with the link to the Group
[editline]31st March 2012[/editline]
Also. If anyone wants to. they can create a Avatar for the Group if there bored. I might try later on...

I would never ever complete a single game. I always change the turn number down low, like 1 turn = 6 months in Medieval. I love Shogun because it's seasonal and it makes you give a shit about generals in the long run. Doing that from ~800-1950 would be a motherfucker

I don't think it would be that big of a deal. So far Total War has had stabby guys shooty guys and long range shooty guys, so the bulk of the game would have to be balance and making skins, unless I'm missing something.

Other than having more unit, ship, city and fortification types than all TW games combined, they'd also need a tonne of different game mechanics for each era, together with tech trees for each era.
Not to mention the absurd amount of research that would be needed.

Nice one!
By any chance could I have the bottom one an avatar? With Transparent background too?
[editline]31st March 2012[/editline]
This is my failed attempt at a Avatar. I guess we could use it as a banner or something for next thread...

take mount and blade: warband and scale it up x10
there you go
I would pay $40 for a remake of Rome (Not so much a sequel) with naval battles and everything from modern day TW games that could improve it. Possibly running on Shogun 2's engine.
i would pay the norwegian standard retail price so 120 dollars for a remake of rome

Thanks, they're the pictures of when the foreign veteran and Ishin Shishi level up.

Finally gave up and uninstalled after constant crashes every few actions. Tried high settings, tried low settings, had a good framerate, but it just stopped responding every few times I ended a turn, or started a battle. Every few times the screen was going to fade to a new thing.
Ohmygod awesome game. 2v2, Shogunate vs Imperial, I was Shogun. 3 sets of Yari Ashigaru and some clusters of Cavalry, where he has mostly bowmen and Katana Samurai. The enemy has 4 Gatling Guns and 5 Line Infantry brigades. He cornered the guns with his bowmen and thrust his samurai forward, while my Cavalry and Yari Ashigaru came up behind and pressed their infantry into a corner, where we all went in a melee rush and finished the job.
We had a 84% casualty rate, however.
