Managed to defeat a fleet that was like 3x bigger then my own using only a Ironclad. they did have a navy full of Wooden/Copper corvettes. Started off pretty ruff, pretty much losing 2 of my 3 ships. leaving only my Ironclad to fight, I took the ironclad into third person and started to fight from there. I had around 4 lucky shots on there ships. blowing them up and causing there broken ships to flee. My ironclad barely took any loses either. I fucking love ironclads!
Finally bought FOTS First naval barrage kills 2 generals, 90 line infantry, almost an entire squad of Yari whateverthefuckspearmen. Watching that line infantry just blossom like a flower from the explosion was fuckin glorious.

I have invested 26 hours of playtime into SHOGUN2 and I can quite honestly say I have gotten no better at the game, I am terrible at it.
So, I'm fucking excited. After 2 years, I've realized that my 10 year old piece of shit computer can actually play Empire: Total War. Randomly took the plunge and bought it on Gamersgate for five bucks since I heard that the full game was patched to hell as opposed to the buggy as sin demo that didn't even work for me. Man, I was so hyped to get my hands on the game just because I love the time period and the fact you can finally play out the naval battles. This is certainly a bright spot in a shitty week. Any mods that you guys can recommend? I think I've heard you all talking about a Darth Mod or some such thing a lot. The only things I'm a little iffy about are it seems that they've removed ammo and the bullet tracers are obnoxious as hell. But, I've only played the first chapter of the RTI campaign so far.
Nothing makes me rage more than gun cavalry that has more range than riflemen. Especially when some cunt abuses it online.
Maybe they have better range because they are skirmish troops and use better guns?

Luckily, one guy sucked at keeping track of them so I just had to send one unit of infantry to every unit of bow cav and he lost half of them. I wouldn't recommend Darthmod until you've gotten bored with vanilla but you should definitely at least try it. It adds more dudes to each unit, adds amazing smoke effects, and lets you play as minor states in campaign. It does more than that, but I only care about bigger, prettier, and Swedisher.

Darthmod makes empire and napoleon so much more enjoyable. Holding fire actually makes sense and the lager unit size allows for different more realistic tactics.

This game is unplayable for me: The game crashed every few turns or battles I go into, and when it does, most of the times, my saves are corrupted or something. Once, it crashed and when I reloaded, some random techs were researched for me. But now I can't even load my game for some reason. I've started 5 new games, all of them have been corrupted a few turns in. I really hope they patch this, it sounds like a great game. I haven't even got a chance to try naval bombardment :(

There's not much to the installation. Put 3 files (main mod, language localization, and the patch) in the data folder and then add some line to a file in your app data etw folder. I'll give it another try later.
Sea battles are so broken it's not even funny. Apparently explosive shells are best against pretty much anything. AP will, after some heavy bombing, sink a ship but it doesn't really matter because it takes so long for a ship to sink that while it is sinking it will sink your ship as well (since they don't stop firing). HE on the other hand fully exploits the retardedly low morale on ships. Just had a match which was a Ocean vs Ocean, and we shelled eachother with AP for like 5 minutes, then he starts sinking slower than a tectonic plate. So I switch to HE, and sure enough before his ship even started to sink visibly it was already routing from the HE.
I watched a naval battle on youtube and the guy playing noted that AP shells seemed to be able to penetrate multiple ships.

However it happens very rarely that two ships are lined up, and even if it does go through, it will just do minimal damage to both, when you could instead shoot with HE and massacre the crew (and set the ship on fire, if wooden). Tried different types of shells against different types of boats. The trick is to kill the crew. Morale is so low that they will route very quickly. HE, on top of killing the crew, also has a chance to set it on fire so I really don't see any reason to use anything else except for rare situations when you need higher range (I didn't experiment much with normal shells though).

my american ironclad is still busting balls. my fleet during a war I had with 4 Shogun supporting clans was the ironclad and 2 copper plated corvettes. in total I have had around 28-30 naval battles. 10 of which the enemy had 9-10 ships. My fleet is currently docked in Nagasaki's port. while I add a few Armored Frigates and Ironclads
The Warrior class is a fucking star destroyer.
That feel when your ironclad routs into an enemy ship and sinks it.

It's upkeep is only a third of the Warrior's and the crew is almost invincible because nobody stands on the top deck
Is medival total war 2 any good? someone traded me medival 2 total war, an total war kingdoms. I havnet installed them yet though
