Someone managed to add bayonets for FOTS units: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=538081
I still want different reload animations for the French units since they use Bolt action rifles.
Someone managed to add bayonets for FOTS units: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=538081
It's actually a pretty decent mod. Apparently, the bayonets were already in game and only had to be "enabled".... If that's the case, I wonder why they weren't in to begin with? Sometimes I think it's a little silly watching Marines using their swords like the Samurai.
I hope they make it so that french troops are useless and take a long time to reload if its raining. Paper cartridges in bolt action after all.

Frankly though I would probably use marines more often if they used the katana and its animations. That would be so badass...
why would a western trained and supplied troop use an eastern fighting style and weapon :v:

So I was just reading up about the Boshin war on Wikipedia just out of boredom, and then stumbled across the HMS Warrior (the British ironclad in FOTS) and it turns out I have actually been on the ship. I went to Portsmouth a couple of years ago on some History trip to Visit the HMS Victory (another battleship. famous for the battle of Trafalgar where it fucked up an entire fleet of French/Spanish ships. also featured in Empire: Total War) sorry if this is dumb but I just find it amazing.
Just played a long campaign as independent Satsuma on hard. One turn away from conquering 65 province; last turn of campaign. :suicide: Also, it's bullshit that independent clans cant get all foreign support [editline]3rd May 2012[/editline] I just wanted dem bolt actions

Suffice to say I was very surprised...
FOTS survey for yall When asked whether or not you want to ban sword-carrying because of a shitload of sword related murders, what decision did you choose?
To ban them since I was playing a faction that was aiming to get industrialized.
FOTS survey for yall When asked whether or not you want to ban sword-carrying because of a shitload of sword related murders, what decision did you choose?
I let them keep it. Less of a chance for revolution

Im in Eastbourne :v: and I managed too sink 2 enemys fleets with my Roanakee and around 2 iron corvettes on normal. was a VERY close battle though (losing my 2 corvettes and the moral on my Roanakee was pretty low on moral at the end of the battle) still. it was a pretty glorious battle. considering I suck at naval battles (main tactic - throw everything at the enemy fleet and see what happens...)
I'm looking for a good mod (I already have Third Age: Total War and Westeros: Total War) I think im going to go with either Stainless Steel or Deus Lo Vult, can anyone tell me which seems better, as in what adds more? I'm really looking for things that flesh out the inner family politics, but also adds more content.
Why does the Total War series seem to have a knack for great endgame music? Except for Empire, everything from Rome onwards was incredible.
Man I can't wait for the full release of that Westeros mod. It looks so good, close to Third Age honestly.
How active is medieval 2's MP? I just bought it
Man I can't wait for the full release of that Westeros mod. It looks so good, close to Third Age honestly.
I didn't even know someone was making this. Is it for Med2? Could I possibly have a link to the forum/post for it?
Could someone answer my question? Stainless Steel or Deus Lo Vult?
I didn't even know someone was making this. Is it for Med2? Could I possibly have a link to the forum/post for it?
Yeah, Medieval II. At the moment it's kinda bland, but the previews make it look fucking amazing. Full release is said to be around July 17th I think, can't fucking wait. Here you go. Look at the Weekly Mini-Previews and the House Stark preview to see what's really coming.
Spartan total war? Hah, hahahah, hahahahahahah.
Spartan: Total Warrior was a very enjoyable game, I don't see what was so bad about it.
The fact that it is an action game in a grand RTS series.
So, I've been playing Shogun 2 and FotS for a month or two now and I'm loving them to death but I'm having a lot of difficulty winning battles in vanilla when I'm confronted by superior numbers or superior units. How do you folks fight a superior foe and win? When you field smaller armies what do you field, and how do you use your small armies to great effect?

Yari on a hill if possible, even better if it's forested. Fold the yari in a bit if you have the numbers. Archers behind them, loose formation if they can still fit behind the yari. A unit of cav a bit behind the line to stop any wide sweeping cav rushes, and some other cav hidden a bit away in a forest for hammer and anvil later. I guess you can eliminate the cav or archers if you don't like either.
It seems that Medieval II seems to struggle with battles containing over 4000 soldiers on any graphics setting, is it just me? If it's not just me, are there any ways to fix that?
Could someone answer my question? Stainless Steel or Deus Lo Vult?
Still no answer anyone?
Couldnt you just download one and play it and see how it is? I never really played either but I guess its worth a try.
Couldnt you just download one and play it and see how it is?
