I say Stainless Steel because I've never heard of the other one.
DLV looks like a lot of fun. Stainless Steel was awesome from what I remember. Actually, I think I'm going to download DLV right now and try it out because it looks pretty damn slick.
With Steam you only have a limited amount of mods you can install due to the directory paths, and I only have one spot left, and I really don't want to have the hassle of downloading both, don't liking one, having to remove it, and doing the aresful method of placing the new mod in.
What do you mean limited? I have mods all over the the medievals and still have original campaings, its just matter of tweaking. Backup your original launcher.exe and kingdoms.exe, rename kingdoms.exe to launcher.exe, then add mod into mods folder and add this kind of line into properties example: @mods\Call_of_Warhammer\warhammer.cfg What this does? It searches mods folder, specific mod and its cfg file. Obviously you use Medieval 2 Kingdoms to launch your Kingdoms mods. Want to play normal campaigns? Remove the line and bring back the backups. It's just matter of tweaking.

I keep recieving NAT Negotiation Failed when I try to join a server. My ports are open, hamachi is uninstalled, no firewalls. So what do I do?
God, an avatar with No penalty against spears is so good!
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=530328 Woooooaaaahhhh
I wish CA never made factions into DLC. I can understand them making extra campaigns as DLC, but factions is annoying.
Installed Deus Lo Vult, and it became the first time a broke a mod soo bad that it was unplayable. I've installed three overhaul mods before this, including Third Age Total War with Baron's Submods and others, but I literally was unable to play Deus Lo Vult. All the words were blocky, the UI was fucked beyond noticeable and it crashed soo many times.

I love old guns. I've got an Turkish smoothbore snider carbine, but sadly it's not in fireable condition. Someday I'd like to get a trapdoor gun (or, even better, a Sharps carbine) though unfortunately .45-70 is expensive to shoot.
I wish CA never made factions into DLC. They should've just made Shogun 2 $60 and included all the content - it doesn't make sense to split apart your playerbase by selling a game with parts missing.
I hate getting random crashes. This has been plaguing me since Empire. What Hell
I think I might have broken Shogun 2. For some reason this city's earning me a lot of money and it's kinda made the game trivial. I guess I'll have to start over if I want a challenge.
max out taxes spend the game being the evil empire [editline]15th May 2012[/editline] use cheats to give the AI factions tons of money [editline]15th May 2012[/editline] build only spear levies (hundreds and hundreds of them) win by pure wave tactics
Stainless Steel seems to have a lot of issues for me. It randomly crashes once in a while, for some historical battles when I click "start" it just goes back to the main menu, and crossbowmen seem to be broken. Anyone else have these problems and/or know how to fix them?
You know what would make an awesome campaign? The Spanish-American war. It still falls within the confines of the combat in FOTS but it was also the first American war to utilize machine-guns (Colt M1895).

They will never make a Total War game focused on a specific war. And it needs to be in a time period where everything can be flexible. Total war games span hundreds of years. If it was set in the American Civil war, it would be what? A few years long? Two factions? Zero unit variety? It would be incredibly stupid. That's why they focus on huge time periods, like the medieval era or Feudal japan. Doesn't work with a single war.
French attacked my settlement
Pffft, the french attacked a castle of mine with 1300 spearmen against my 300 troops. 3 groups of weakened crossbowmen, 2 groups of spearmen and 1 group of heavy knights. Constant hit and run tactics eventually took out 4/5ths of their army and the rest of them ran while I had 100 troops left. Cavalry is the BEST

Yes it was an expansion but still. it was an Standalone expansion, but still. the Boshin war was only like 1 year long. I guess its a bit stupid to have an american civil war game because it was only 2 primary factions and no Minor factions.
Just saw this. What do you guys think?

Cavalry is the BEST
I had something similar happen, the French attacked one of my castles on the border, and they had like 10-15 units of infantry including Armoured Sergeants. I only had 2 General's bodyguard, 2 units of Mailed Knights, a single unit of Feudal and a single unit of Imperial Knights. They didn't even line up, they just marched in a straight line towards the gate, so I hit each unit from every angle and eventually they broke. I barely lost any men and thanks to the speed of cavalry I killed a good portion of those who fled.

It was actually the easiest game I've ever played. The game is practically broken when you go pure Ashigaru because you have so much fucking money(all your buildings are economic, and your unites are cheap), and because you have so much manpower. Once you have 2 full stacks of Spear Ashigaru you can pretty much destroy any opposing army, and even if you lose it only takes you a few turns to get those armies back.
Friggin' Austria, leave Prussia alone, stop attacking my ships.

You could eventually get things like Battleships and things like that, nations all over the world would be establishing themselves as dominant powers (I think it would be cool if you could do rebellion type things. Try to rebel as a nation under control by another.) I dunno, that's just my 2 cents. I wouldn't mind seeing it continue to move forward in time. Granted i think getting to the days of World War I would no longer be fun, with tanks and trenches. But before that, i think it could be cool.

Now that i think about it, i think engagement ranges on battleships and the like would be too far too. Part of the fun in Empires was those massive broadsides at point blank range.
