Playing Rome, and am trying to deal with a crippling rebellion with a 40000 debt. help
I am so addicted to this.
Playing as italian states, used a mod that unlocks them. Capture all the regions to the north, make fuckbuttloads of money, buy the boot part. Everything is swell and happy, and then I side with the rebels and change to a republic. Now everyone wants to stick their dick in my butt.
I love playing as the Italian States with their 50 vineyards pumping out endless money. I took Naples by force from Spain then next turn asked for Peace and gave them 8k as a gift. Every other turn Spain peacefully opened diplomatic negotiations and politely asked for Naples back in exchange for Cuba. The Barbary States would also try to extort 7k+ in exchange for a peace treaty. Then around 1730~ France and England, who were warring with each other, took great interest in Italy. England absolutely demanded Naples in exchange for Jamaica + I would pay them 3500. I told them fuck off and they declared war on me. Next turn France asks for Genoa in exchange for Louisiana. I tell them fuck off and they declared war on me. Their allies also jumped in on the chance to sack Rome. Now everyone wants to stick their dick in my butt.

i declared war on everyone Now everyone wants to stick their dick in my butt.
Playing Rome, and am trying to deal with a crippling rebellion with a 40000 debt. help
Romes economy mechanics were horrible, I got to a point were I couldn't advance anywhere without crippling my economy. [editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
Enslave everyone you can. That is how you win at rome.
Can't that lead to rebelling, since the angry citizens get distributed over all your cities? [editline]7th July 2012[/editline] I'm surprised to see quite a lot of empire players as well, most people I've seen hated it.

so what is this Roma Surrectum II mod? Tempted to re-install Rome total war to play it. Does it make the game looks 100 times better? or what? [editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
I heard Empire was only bad first on release but it's fine now? anyways I just bought it and about to play it because it interests me for some reason, oh well no turning back now
I enjoyed it quite alot, infact its one of my favorites. although MedII and Rome were enjoyable. I found the Empire and Napoleon era so much more fun for some reason.
I heard Empire was only bad first on release but it's fine now? anyways I just bought it and about to play it because it interests me for some reason, oh well no turning back now
Personally I loved it, but a lot of total war lovers didn't seem to like it. I can understand the complaints about naval combat because that was dull as hell, but land combat and the campaign stuff I thought were pretty good. I also liked the impact government had on gameplay as well. [editline]7th July 2012[/editline] Also what are the system requirements for this Roma Surrectum II mod, I like the look of it.
[editline]7th July 2012[/editline] Can't that lead to rebelling, since the angry citizens get distributed over all your cities? Enslave them again [editline]7th July 2012[/editline] I'm surprised to see quite a lot of empire players as well, most people I've seen hated it.
I don't hate empire, it's okay, missing a lot for a total war game, I like napoleon better, too bad I'm completely primitive when it comes to gunpowder tactics. I'll win 5:1 odds in Medieval 2, but when it comes to empire I just can't understand what strategies to use, it's like, now that everyone has guns, flanking is pointless.

I found rome the easiest with tactics. As the romans, just have a line of infantry in whatever shape, skirmishers behind them, and archers in the middle and you win every time.
I found rome the easiest with tactics.
I found rome the easiest with tactics. As the romans, just have a line of infantry in whatever shape, skirmishers behind them, and archers in the middle and you win every time.
Rome was horrible for balance though, Phalanx infantry>just about everything else.
Rome was horrible for balance though, Phalanx infantry>just about everything else.
True. I remember in one battle a single Hoplite killed like six hundred of my guys, when they were completely surrounded. had to charge them because every unit was out of munition.
Here's a shot of a French Officer for a Line of militia in my France game I'm currently playing. I was playing around with the camera while waiting for the boring siege to end and did a quick edit in photoshop. Thought it was a pretty decent picture all things considered: This game has been pretty damn intense and I've been battling for supremacy in America against the British for the last 25 years. Luckily Spain and I have been working together from the beginning and we've been blockading Great Britain, slowly bleeding them out their efforts to raise armies in America. I had laxed a bit on the blockading and relatively huge armies began popping up (5000 strong army, filled with Hessian mercenaries, moved on my Algonquin territory against my measly 2800 defenders. Thank God artillery evened the odds with grape shot) in America. It's a constant back and forth struggle and coupled with my enemies in Europe (Austria, Westphalia and Russia) I'm fighting on two vastly different fronts but decent success so far. Sadly, it's only a matter of time before I back-stab Spain because they own some of my required victory territories and I'll need it if I plan on progressing onward. War is hell.
I mean bigger than that. I would have ti modify the games files because they are already set to huge.
For Empire and onwards http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=335867
For Empire and onwards http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=335867
I need it for Medieval II, but these are useful as well.
True. I remember in one battle a single Hoplite killed like six hundred of my guys, when they were completely surrounded. had to charge them because every unit was out of munition.
Easy. Lock up the hoplites in melee from 2 sides so that they revert to swords to fight, and get engaged closely. Then have cavalry charge their backs.
Bought the Total War Mega Pack, going to be busy for the next few months...
Just had my first battle in Empire as the British and fought the Americans, oh wow it's satisfying having a line of your guys fire into them, watch them drop then attach bayonets and charge right at them
Sadly, it's only a matter of time before I back-stab Spain because they own some of my required victory territories and I'll need it if I plan on progressing onward. War is hell.
Sounds like something the A.I. would say
How do you get MedII mods to work on Steam without overwriting a kingdoms folder? I tried renaming the launcher and stuff but now it says "Medieval II has suffered a fatal error and will now exit" when I use the .bat or shortcut methods.
Easy. Lock up the hoplites in melee from 2 sides so that they revert to swords to fight, and get engaged closely. Then have cavalry charge their backs.
Sure, you can do that to a single hoplite unit, but you'd most certainly lack the infantry to do that to a whole hoplite army. I also think that hoplites literally have pikes up their ass, I always charge them with heavy cavalry from behind and the horses still come flying despite encountering no resistance.
You don't have to overwrite the folder, just rename it to like Americas1 or something.
I know, but what if I want both installed at a time, or want more than 4 mods installed at once?

It allows them to show up on the list, but the game still crashes immediately. I hear the problem lies with Steam. This is the second time Steam has kept me from using modifications and it's really starting to piss me off.
Well, since everyone seems to be posting their E:TW stories, Ill share one. 1722, I declare war on Britain in order to secure naval dominance over the Atlantic and give me a Naval Base second to Malta, which I conquered a few years before from the Knights of St John. Not pictured is the big coalition of terrifyingly powerful nations of the world breaking their alliances with Britain because they don't want to fuck with me. The big 3 are Austria, Spain and the Mughal Empire. I march on London. I am outnumbered 5-1 and they have reinforcements that include several line infantry regiments. But I do not fear defeat, because I have 4 batteries of Howitzers, with newly researched Carcass shells. And they are brutal. This was after the first Salvo. The garrison of London is devastated at the walls. The reinforcing British army is smarter and stays behind the comfort of the walls on ground. They are not strong enough to repel my advancing army however and they are crushed. Edinburgh is conquered later with similar tactics. All that remains is Dublin. It is easily swept aside and conquered as well. Several peace treaties are sent out to me, but I reject them all. Britain is destroyed. And then something rather shocking happened. I created the United States accidently. Ivan Mazepa, the General that conquered Britain (pictured), Malta, and shortly after this turn of events Iceland, died peacefully in America, 1733, one year after a ceasefire between me and the US after they declared war on my ally France. He conquered half of their provinces before the ceasefire was issued.
What mod do you guys recommend for Empire Total War?
