Allow me to tell you the story of Cassius Victor, also known as Cassius, the Killer. Cassius began his real political life at 20-some when he married one of my daughters, he was the first guy I married someone to, and I didn't liek him very much. So, when it came time to conquer something, I sent him, preferring the risk the fucker's life rather than my own children. that fucker turned out to be a Gaulish nightmare. he quickly earned shit tons of command and established himself as the best commander in the army (besides my original faction leader). When the first familial casualty was felt (foolishly, I admit), cassius became the de facto leader ( I forgot how to pick heirs). he was 60-some and proved a valuable asset in the crusade against the germanic as well. He met his fate today, though. In one of the biggest fights I've seen, he commanded 900 men and with my 600 men, we ran through the 1700-some barbarians. Until the Ai fucking decided to charge him throat-first into a hoplite spear. Without assistance. From the front. While they were doing a spear wall. Only respect for the family honor stops me from ranting about the Ai, the Ai programmer, his mother, and the amount of cocks she gobbles daily.
Man i love Third Age so much. Best total war game after Rome and Medieval 2 imo. Shame my saves usually end up crashing constantly though. I love how heroes like Faramir can just mow down hundreds upon hundreds of orcs before they even get within charge range. I held a 5000 orc army out of East Osgiliath with just Faramir, some other rangers and a single group of fountain guards + a bit of crappy cavalry on the side. I did not expect to win that at all. 20 rangers, along with Faramir were left. Fucking Badasses.
I never understood why the AI could have a relatively superior force and they wreck their opportunity by doing just that. Sometimes it's disorienting and can literally break a line in half but the moment you recover (which is usually quite easy) you'll wreck their forces by engulfing them with a pincer move on their flanks and just lay waste to them. Stupid charging moves like that can make the game a little boring at times.
That was the first time I've ever seen the AI go batshit retard. Usually they're pretty smart about flanking arty, exposing weaknesses in your lines, and saving cavalry charges for the most opportunistic times. Also, fuck the Barbary States. Genoa declared war on me and the Italian States. I went and captured Genoa while the Italian States declared on Spain and took Milan. To unite the land I hoped over to take Sardina only to find the Barbary States beat me to it. As soon as I land to capture the island they fucking gift Sardina to Georgia of all fucking nations.
How does one eliminate all of a faction's family members?
How does one eliminate all of a faction's family members?
Kill them with assassins and armies.
Why is it that siege AI (enemy or ally, it matters not) is utterly retarded when attacking? They don't even move their lines, even under heavy archer fire, until their siege weapons have successfully broken 9+ sections of wall, and they will continue to try and do just that even if they are only armed with ballistas and you're in a fucking citadel. Then they sit there cluelessly and move in range for no reason and your towers destroy their siege equipment. I play on Medium Difficulty, but still, even for Medium this is ridiculous. However, when they defend they are cheap assholes who make you pay for every inch taken with 100 men. Then they pull everyone back to the square to fight to the last man. Meanwhile, my retarded ally is sitting on the other side of the fort, still flinging his shit at the walls, even though he has 2 siege towers, 4 ladders, a ram, and the wall is broken in 5 places.
Kill them with assassins and armies.
How? (sorry) How do you use the assassins to single out the family members?
Just took on a full stacked Swiss army as the Kingdom of Saxony. really tight battle from the start since there line infantry are one of the best in the game. But still my 12' howitzers made them lose half there units before they even reached me. Felt good since if they took it I would of lost the game...
How? (sorry) How do you use the assassins to single out the family members?
Right click on a family member (it should tell you when you hover over them) and click on the little dagger.
Right click on a family member (it should tell you when you hover over them) and click on the little dagger.
What if a family member is garrisoned? Then go to battle?
What if a family member is garrisoned? Then go to battle?
Assassins still work.
Okay this is getting fucking rediculous. Why did the makers of the Warhammer mod feel the need to host all of their files on terrible, shitty, uploading sites when mediafire could have worked. I mean, at least somebody (not a mod team member, mid you) made a torrent link for the 1.5 release but there is no torrent for the patch, which is needlessly huge to begin with (what patch is 311 megabytes large?) [editline]fuckingrussians[/editline] So this is what happens: I start the download and it goes fine until those last 20 megabytes and it just craps out and gets stuck. I believe it has to do with bandwith or shit (I'm not good with internet tech) and that the sight doesn't want to use it all on free members like me (what fuck charges for a hosting site? I mean, I know they need money to keep the servers up, but why not just use adds? I don't mind them, most people don't.)
What if a family member is garrisoned? Then go to battle?
You can still get em but if they are in a city they'll get bonuses against assassination attempts. I've ninja capped countless cities when the AI leaves only a character inside. Ship over 1 spear militia, kill the character, cap.
How often do you guys use the skip battle function?
I often use it if I'm in a battle where I heavily outmatch the opponent and I don't feel like spending 15 minutes killing them. Like, fully researched and stacked military vs native americans with like six units.
How often do you guys use the skip battle function?
For naval battles in E:TW. I destroy higher classed ships in Shogun no problem but in Empire somehow a Brig always fucks my 5-6th rate ships up. Also I'll use autobattle after I play a battle to kill off the stragglers.
I know I've said this before, and I know that it'll probably piss off some concerningly butthurt individuals, but I still think that if there were a way to bring "Napoleon: Total War"s world map into a mod with FOTS, you could make one hell of a WWI gamemode. You have almost ALL of the mechanics in place for all of the technology anyways, including but not limited to machine guns, Dreadnoughts, "landships", grenades, chemical weapons, trenches and cavalry.
I'd love a WW1 RTS but TW's system isn't the place for it. WW1 would fit much much better in a Company of Heroes/DoW2 system.
How often do you guys use the skip battle function?
I generally tend to manually fight naval battles, as I capture enemy ships rather than destroying them. I find it much more beneficial firing grapeshot at the enemy ships, then boarding them and capturing them. I only end up having to pay ~500 or so for complete repairs, ~500 gold and I get one or two damn fine ships out of it. Only time I auto-resolve is when my navy is up against shitty ships like Sloops. I only bother capturing a brig or galleon of sixth-rate etc. I tend to auto-resolve land battles if I am superior, but NEVER if the enemy army has artillery and NEVER if I'm sieging. AI always manages to lose so many men against cannons and sieges, it's pathetic. A ~1200 man army against 2 stacks of line infantry and an artillery piece? I'll lose around 200 men even though I have cavalry to take out the arty. I manually fight most of my land battles to ensure I kill the general and most of the enemy (fucking hate when the army runs off with the general intact, to end up garrisoning inside a castle!). If I win the battle and the army still splits, I just auto-resolve any further conflicts.
awww fuuuuuck any scans up on the internet yet?
It's all in Swedish though
I love Empire, especially with Darth Mod. I just wish it didn't plant Darth Vader and shit all over the place. The year is 1700, the world is rushing to stake their claim on the new world, Pirates are raiding trade lanes in the caribbean. Vader wants to know thy bidding?
I'd love a WW1 RTS but TW's system isn't the place for it. WW1 would fit much much better in a Company of Heroes/DoW2 system.
Of course, it would also have to be on the Total-War styled campaign map, not just the battles.
Have they ever resolved any of the ATI compatibility issues? No matter what I try, TW always ends up randomly crashing on me.
Of course, it would also have to be on the Total-War styled campaign map, not just the battles.
Of course. If CA removed the Risk styled world map I think an angry mob would burn their offices down.
Of course. If CA removed the Risk styled world map I think an angry mob would burn their offices down.
As said before, the current engine and style for TW wouldn't work with WWI, because they'd have to code so much stuff to be able to send troops into trenches, how would tanks and planes work, gas, artillery, mines, etc. They'd have to do a Total Overhaul[sub][sub]*[/sub][/sub] to be able to make a WWI game. A man can dream though. [sub][sub][sub]*See what I did there?[/sub][/sub][/sub]
Have they ever resolved any of the ATI compatibility issues? No matter what I try, TW always ends up randomly crashing on me.
I have ATI and i almost never have any problems. What card do you have ?
