I have a question for all of you. What is your favorite faction in Empire: Total War?
I enjoyed playing as Portugal (Total Factions mod) a lot on hard, as it was quite challenging. The Ottoman Empire was also really fun, though I sort of cringed when I noticed I had conquered everything, as it looked so much out of place.
(they already made this, it's part of Kingdoms)
I am pretty sure it was more of desert than jungle though. Or maybe I just played the wrong one.
That city hnnnnnnngnng, I just hope it's not scenery or faked. I want to be able to fight in those streets instead of the recent games with featureless courtyards surrounded by walls.
I can see some troop movement on the far side of the river. Don't know if that means the whole city will be accessible thought
I am pretty sure it was more of desert than jungle though. Or maybe I just played the wrong one.
There's a big part of South America in the Americas campaign map; obviously if you play as the Apaches you won't see much jungle up there. And I remember playing some jungle battles in multiplayer (it's fucking annoying because you can't see shit).
at first i was going to call you stupid but then i remembered i was in the total war thread i agree 100%
Just call him stupid. I may not agree with you have to say, but I damn well defend your right to say it!
Anyone here tried out Hyrule Total War?
Anyone here tried out Hyrule Total War?
Yeah, I did. I didn't try campaign but from what I played in custom battles the Kingdom of Hyrule was OP as fuck. I got massacred even by their basic level troops.
Yeah, I did. I didn't try campaign but from what I played in custom battles the Kingdom of Hyrule was OP as fuck. I got massacred even by their basic level troops.
I tried out the Sheikah and I decimated a 2000 hyrule force with 200 troops
I tried out the Sheikah and I decimated a 2000 hyrule force with 200 troops
Sheikah was quite literally the only faction I did not try.
Start watching on the 14 minutes mark. :v:
On Part 78 he lost ~35 equites to a single scythe chariot after everyone died. :v:
I am pretty sure it was more of desert than jungle though. Or maybe I just played the wrong one.
The Cheeroke Nations start in the desert in the north yes but down south its jungle.
I can see some troop movement on the far side of the river. Don't know if that means the whole city will be accessible thought
IIRC they said in an interview everything in that screenshot will be accessible, you can see a road leading up to the acropolislike area. You can also see boats in the river filled with troops, going to unload on carthage's dock area. It also looks like there's multiple walls inside the city to fall back to. [editline]2nd September 2012[/editline] in fact, the city isn't even in a complete state in that screenshot. To the back right there's a huge empty area where in other screenshots they're filled up with buildings and streets. Thats also probably why they keep only showing the dock area and outer walls.
hey, fellas, what's up with Rome: TW's online? there's still lots of servers but I can't any of them, it says Unable to join (GS). I snooped and saw that it was very common, I turned off hamachi which was a very popular fix and it didn't work, turned off my comodo firewall, still nothing. Any suggestions?
I wish there were more fantasy mods for Rome and Medieval II. I think Medieval II has 3 and 2 more in production (4 more, but 2 of those are unlikely to make it) but Rome only had 3 as far as I can tell, which were Warhammer, 3rd Age, and 4th Age. I would like to see an original fantasy mod for a change.
Weren't the LOTR mods for Medieval II?
There was also one for Rome which was pretty awesome. After Warner Brothers hit the Skyrim Middle Earth Roleplaying Project mod with a cease and desist just a few days ago, I've gotten kind of worried for the Medieval II one. Its team still works to perfect it.

It's been around very long so I doubt they will try and shut it down, and likewise someone will still keep it up for download somewhere.
IS the total pack worth it? I already have rome gold and alexander http://store.steampowered.com/sub/11657/
IS the total pack worth it? I already have rome gold and alexander http://store.steampowered.com/sub/11657/
Yeah, looks like it. Medieval II is one of the best in the series and Empire is pretty good too. Napoleon would have worked better as an expansion for Empire but oh well. Plus you can only play the really good Medieval II mods if you have Kingdoms. And Empire has several fun mods too.
But there's no shogun 2, I was told it was very good. Does empires have multiplayer? the complete one wit hthe campaign map gameplay. [editline]4th September 2012[/editline] Then again, what I guess I wanted most about shogun 2 was fall of the samurai, maybe I should just get the total pack, keep the rome pack for trading. I get a good musket/melee fix in the other 2, right? Plus I can play as portugal in empires, so it'«s all peachy.
Rome/Medieval II, Empire/Napoleon and Shogun 2 all play quite differently. In the long run, I found Medieval II and Shogun II the most enjoyable, but I would warmly recommend buying all of it. If you'll like some of it, you're almost guaranteed to like the rest. Should be worth noting that many people consider Empire the worst, because of how unpolished it is in comparison to other games, though. Still, I'd say buy the Mega Pack. Also, don't think you'll get spare copies of Rome and Alexander unless it specifically states so when you're buying it. Those deals only work for Valve games/select packs for what I'm aware.
Keep in mind that I have to choose between the mega pack and shogun 2 + fall of the samurai . And yeah, you're right. What a shame.
Well it all depends, how much do you like guns in your Total War? Personally, I would go for the Mega Pack first just for Rome and Medieval II, because Empire was (and in my opinion still is) pretty bad and Napoleon is just more of that with fixes here and there. Shogun II and FotS are both amazing games, but they lack unit variety and don't have as many mods as Medieval II, so they aren't as beneficial in the long run, but are still great, about as good as Medieval II.
Keep in mind that I have to choose between the mega pack and shogun 2 + fall of the samurai . And yeah, you're right. What a shame.
I doubt you're going to enjoy at least half of those games in the pack that much, people are usually draw to one or two, get those. Not to mention you're also paying for some silly DLC. My personal favorites are FoTS and rome/medieval 2, so i'd get the first and then the second later on.
I never tried guns in total war and I already have rome, so maybe I'll get FotS and medieval II. But I was told it was unbalanced, that cavalry raped everything
I never tried guns in total war and I already have rome, so maybe I'll get FotS and medieval II. But I was told it was unbalanced, that cavalry raped everything
Yeah, cavalry is pretty good, and the balance is messed up for some factions, but most of the European factions level out evenly. It is meant to create tension when your at war with the middle east, raise the stakes, and cause impromptu alliances. But yeah, go for Shogun II and FotS right now and then just buy Medieval II. Empire and Napoleon aren't really worth it.
I never tried guns in total war and I already have rome, so maybe I'll get FotS and medieval II. But I was told it was unbalanced, that cavalry raped everything
Well, it's realistic in that sense. European Medieval warfare was entirely dominated by the heavily armored horsed knight, they were men who consistently trained and utilized their talents in the fields of killing and riding. Infantry had their uses, but a knight in full plate steel was the true master of the battlefield. It wasn't really until the Crusades that the Europeans started to realize the true virtue in professional infantry. Of course, it's very easy to blunt a cavalry charge with a combination of higher-tier spearmen, archers and cavalry of your own. The Scots in particular are predisposed to wiping out cavalry formations with minimal losses, through effective use of the pike. I've never found any real unbalance with Medieval II, some people say the Islamic factions are unbalanced because their cavalry can decimate any European force with it's reliance of levies and semi-professional infantrymen, but that's just accurate. See the Battle of Hattin for reference. Also Medieval II has the best mods of the series. Third Age, Broken Crescent, Bellum Crucis and plenty more. And there's an amazing Westeros mod in the works, hopefully to be completed in the next few months.
Oh, also. If you buy Medieval II, look out for the Pope. He's the biggest dick in the Catholic commune.
Does anyone know if its possible to get darthmod to work for medieval 2 kingdoms expansions on steam? When I launch the mod by the desktop icon "attack darthmod", it comes up with the kingdoms menu which lets me choose between medieval 2 vanillia, crusades, teutonic, britannia and americas. If I choose medieval 2, darthmod works but for all the other expansions it doesnt work as I can tell because pikemen are able to toggle spearwall formation off and will use their swords in melee alot (two of the things darth removed) along with many other things aswell.
