Did I tell you guys that my heir to the throne is a gay Templar magician?
Not sure if I did or not.
I hope rome 2 junks shogun 2's RPG-style general upgrades and reintroduces the trait system of rome/medieval 2
i miss having governors sitting on a mountain of bad traits

Absolutely...
otherwise, I couldn't have my gay Templar magician!
stuck in a ditch.
have venice, rome, london and edinburg but I still cannot deal with the fucking rebels.
or combine the system. I hated having a governor in med2 get all the badass weapons and armor while my general gets wizards and young boys. Random traits with a random pool of ancillaries to choose from(like the retainer system) ontop of traits/ancillaries you gain.

Wonder why they never invited him
Probably because it was a technical summit and not a 'General modders' summit. Doesn't take much skill to open a file, it does to make the tools to make sense of and use the file.
God I can't fucking wait. The scale is just so amazing. And I might be imagining this, but I swear the guy on the right has a kinda worried facial expression, something at least. I'm building an absolutely top of the line gaming PC just for Rome II. I want to finally be able to experience tens of thousands of little pixel people killing each other for my amusement at top quality, damn the expense.
Most likely. CA said they'd be going into more in-depth facial animations for the soldiers, so as to get a bigger sense of realism in when their battle brothers fall like flies around each other, for example. Can't find the article, but I know they said they'd be doing it.
I can't wait to trample people with elephants. Hopefully they make it so if the elephant waivers/shatters they'll just go berserk and trample everything in sight trying to get away from combat
wait, shogun 2 didn't have personality traits?

Yeah I know, I just didn't see any until now. God, I'm probably going to spend half the game zoomed into the max just watching the beautiful combat.
And then you get charioted in the back
And then you get charioted in the back
Ha, I'd say that won't happen but just the other day I lost six hundred archers to light cavalry because I was busy watching some Dwarves kill a thousand Orks.
wait, shogun 2 didn't have personality traits?
S2 had it, but it wasn't anywhere near the extent of rome/M2

More specifically, it only influenced miniscule things like -5% map travelling range or less morale. Nothing like becoming sterile, gay or completely megalomaniac.
Hey fellow Total War FPers. Just thought I'd let you guys know I just finished making my 'Napoleon Retrofit' pack, which aims to back-port some mechanics from Napoleon into Empire (namely deadlier artillery and tighter formations).
It'd be like, wickid cool if you checked it out.
Peace, gentlemen.

p.s: can't fucking wait for Rome II.

Wait, wait, Napoleon was the improved artillery?
Good god, artillery sucks so bad in the Total War games. Cannons in Medieval II were more goddamn effective. Hell, the cannons were practically useless for me. All they did was drop morale.
Of course in Fall of the Samurai they are brought to their full potential, and it is the coolest thing ever.

Artillery of that era was actually not very effective at being artillery as we know it today. It was mainly used as a wall/morale crusher and Empire and Napoleon reflect that. There were of course cases of artillery being used to a great effect, but those were generally handled by commanders who took special interest in it.
But to answer your question, I am of the opinion that the artillery was improved in Napoleon, so yes.
And we both agree that the artillery in FoTS is epic.

What are expecting a ball of iron to do exactly? If you want the artillery to be more effective then use the shrapnel shot fire modes

Well, I never felt it really had a huge impact, even on enemy morale, when I played. In reality, you'd shit your pants if a giant iron ball just knocked the guy next to you's head off.
Cannons always did a good job at shattering the enemy for me in empire.

Try getting canister and shrapnel shot, makes cannons a hell of a lot more effective against infantry.

7:20 on-wards, oh Lord. At least the Centurion models look pretty good.

That shit better be in the game.
Cannons always did a good job at shattering the enemy for me in empire.
I always waited for lines of infantry to get close enough to send volleys through multiple regiments. Rarely do I use grapeshot when going against Cavalry, because I always tend to route them by skirmishers before they become too much of a problem.
Whoa, you mean you don't have any samurais drowning spiders in vinegar? That sucks, man.

This is how your soldiers celebrate once you win a battle.
No celebration for my soldiers, we are busy conquering America. I left europe because Austria had 4000 troops massed into one spot. And they were right next to Paris, only two turns away.
I got Empire on sale a long while back and never could get into it. Is there something I'm missing? It just seems so slow and boring.
