There was a show on the history channel way back in the day that used RTW for sims. Also the TW games aren't really educational at all but they do, atleast in my case, act as a catalyst to peak interest in history n geography.
Time Commanders?

Na that was the BBC.
The Americans had a show called Decisive Battles where they just played out historic battles and gave you loads of information.

Once you or your faction gets big and beefy enough, I don't remember exactly but basically everything descends into a massive war.

Really any time you have a complete hold on an island or you manage to seclude yourself on the mainland.
Then everyone that's touching you hates you.

IIRC there was this guy here using Rome for his history class to display fighting tactics and it was really damn well done and accurate.
Oh, Great Basil! Restore your empire's former glory! For Rome!

Spain, however, decided to conveniently place this doomstack here. Not conspicuous at all.

And the worthless Danes betrayed me mid-war with the HRE. :(
Well, time to move into Africa, into Scandinavia and finish my job with Milan!
How do you pronounce Byzantine? I pronounce it "Buy-ZAN-teen," since I'm pretty certain Byzantium was pronounced, "Buy-ZAN-tee-um." I've heard others pronounce it, "Biz-an-teen." Any ideas?
I pronounce it Biz-an-tine and for Byzantium - Biz-an-tium

biz-an-teen, because all sounds in Latin are pronounced in a pure way and Byzantium is obviously Latin.
For some reason the English language decided to change the pronunciation of some Latin words and not for some others. Makes English one of the few languages where you can look at an "i" and not know whether it's pronounced ee or ay.

As a native English speaker learning German, I must say, English is a stupid fucking language.

No it isn't you communist! English is the native language of the greatest country on earth.
God Bless Amurica.
So is it possible to win naval battles with significantly less, but equal skill/type, ships, in the same way that land battles can be won at a 1:5 ratio? For instance, I'm playing as the Maratha Confederacy, and I find that while the Mughal Empire uses the same ships as I do (limited to Brigs and Sloops, neither of us apparently focused on naval power), I can't win the battle unless I have 2 or 3 more ships than they.
Are naval battles supposed to be sort of static? I figured sort of that you're supposed to be constantly maneuvering your ships but the only thing I haven't tried is a sort of "static" defense.
Never actually click on the enemy ship. Just get it within range and tilt it. The AI is fucking retarded for naval combat.

Okay, naturally. The same goes for land battles and line infantry.

The question is can you set up ships in a certain formation to repel most attacks, like you can with cannons and line infantry.
I love just bribing all the roman faction armies because its faster and cheaper than actually building them.

Poor choice to siege by me, but I had already committed so I had to go ahead. Not bad to beat two armies, one inside a castle, with me having mostly cavalry. :v:
