I actually didn't enjoy land battles that much in ETW because they didn't consist of much more than "march up to enemy and shoot". So yea, the AI is pretty fucked up, but I don't think that the developers knew how to program AI for an army of ranged infantry. I remember Shogun 2, Medieval 2, and Rome being a lot better.

That preview image is pretty funny. I can't wait for those railways. That's what I always hated, having a cannon foundry way back in the heart of my territory and taking multiple turns to get them where they were needed.

ETW AI is worse than NTW, and i play NTW, but i can't really say the AI is good enough. You can still use cheap tactics.

Plus it has a Peninsular Campaign DLC, so you can live our your Sharpe fantasies.

The AI makes me cry so much sometimes in Shogun 2. I fought off all the melee units of some enemies invading which left their archers when I hear enemy reinforcements have arrived. Take a look and its about the same size of the original force except its all melee.

I like the general global domination campaign more in Empire than I do in NTW Also I've played every TW game except the original shogun

I always back myself into one of the corners of the boundaries and dig in for slaughter.

The US, France and Britain just aid in the struggle between the Shogunate and the Emperor. I don't think there will be troops of said countries fighting.

Alright, this is a chaser to my bitching about the Indian sub-continent. I've finally managed to crush the Mughal Empire, but at a hell of a cost. Two turns after my seemingly complete victory, and both Sweden (my closest ally, literally) and the Italian states decide to declare war on me. Italy has three fully-stacked navies and Sweden has two, and they go on a rampage destroying [b]all[/b] of my trade fleets. Sweden takes three of my northern-most territories and the Italian States romp the coasts. I've been forced to relocate my Indian armies and move them to the North-African coastline and smash the Italians while my conscript armies push through Northern Russia to take on the Swedes. I love this game.

It's bogus how they went all through the trouble advertising the feature when later on their only excuse of a joke was the uniform editor was never meant for public use.

Takin advantage of Empire's AI [img]http://filesmelt.com/dl/2012-02-25_00001.jpg[/img] Mortars with exploding shells thinned them out nicely on the advance. Amazons held them back from my line for quite some time(Women from africa have 90 range and ~50 accuracy wtf) Then shit went horribly wrong after some of Spain's militia engaged my line infantry in melee and my mortars decided to target them as a priority killing most of that line regiment and severely wounding the Garrison Guards behind them.
