In Rome 2, are we going to be going back to fighting in our own cities? Not actually manning and assaulting the walls of our cities, and fighting back invaders block by block, street by street and building by building was one of the things that disappointed me the most about games after Medieval 2.
Not to mention the forts in Empire and Napoleon were ugly and boring as fuck
In Rome and Medieval 2, when we had siege battles, they were fought in the actual city in question. In Empire, Napoleon and Shogun 2 we fight in a fort/castle deal, not the actual city. I don't like that, I want to fight in the actual damn city.
Judging from the gameplay videos and screenshots, they should take place in actual cities.

Good, no more of that boring fort shit from Empire.
I actually want to get the new Shogun 2 dlc.
A 16th century Japanese army with modern European gear of the time sounds awesome.

I wonder how the balance would work. Since I saw some breastplates, and I'm sure that they would kind of block off most of the attacks from Jap weapons, unless they were at other areas.
They probably just start off with superior armor upgrades.
I remember playing hard with Shimazu and you can still kick some ass with solely matchlock ashigaroos
So Russia wants to take back Moscow with some pathetic army of 300.
Wait a second, I have 4000 trained guardsmen versus their pathetic gathering of Calvary.
I also have the walls upgraded.
all your men will die
I'm addicted.
I decided to play as France and Britian left London unguarded.
What followed was me amassing a quick army of 1000 and storming them.
Been playing Stainless Steel as the Byzantines; my generals are showing mass defiance to my ruler. So I send them out into the wilderness by themselves, and after a turn they come crawling back to me :v:
Goddamn FOTS naval battles could be their own standalone game. Fuckin Jap ironclad managed to ram my Warrior and sink it by doing so. Left with only 1 torpedo boat I shot 2 torpedoes at the approaching ironclad. (We were prolly only 50-60 yards away from each other) The AI manages to swing the ship around and the first torp misses him and it looks like the 2nd will just barely scrape by. We're now broadside to broadside and I have zero chance of winning. The 2nd torp strikes him dead center(I have no idea how, it was virtually parallel with his hull) and blows his ammo room. Since we were so close to each other it immediately set my torpedo boat on fire which explodes a few seconds later. NO SURVIVORS, SHAMEFU DISPRAY
Does anyone get PC freezing crashes with FotS? Got one today but couldn't tell whether it was my graphics card overheating or the game just being buggy.
Having a problem.
When trying to launch Shogun 2, I get the usual "Shogun 2" is launching window but after that it just closes and the game doesn't start. Also when trying to run the benchmark I get this:

Anyone else ever have this problem, or know what's wrong?
Verify the integrity of the game files

I've done that twice already.
I've done that twice already.
Well it looks like you're fucked mate.
Well after redownloading and reinstalling the full 20GB or however much this space this damn game takes up 3 times, it finally works.
Guys, I have a confession to make. I haven't played a single total war campaign without using cheatengine to give myself infinite money.

I've never finished a campaign ever.
You should feel bad.
I've tried to finish campaigns but I failed because I set it to prestiege victory instead of world domination.
Otherwise I'm typically good money wise, by year 1710 I make about 10-12k a year.
Oh god can anyone explain how to do battles in FotS? My line infantry keep getting annihilated by bloody melee infantry and I'm also finding it near impossible to take on a fort.

While I can't comment directly on FotS, since I don't own it, but from playing Empire, you should be firing and maneuvering, so that you've always got a unit firing on the melee infantry, while the one being attacked falls back. Then alternate which units you're pulling back with.

I managed fine in empire personally, never had much of a problem. FotS seems quite different and a lot harder.

At this point, after 700 hours of Medieval II, I cheat a lot. Usually stuff like building an advanced armory in a single turn, or giving myself some money to pay for some stuff I really need.

That's pretty bad.
I mean, there's an in-game money cheat!

Station melee infantry behind you Line Infantry. When they enemy charges, counter-charge with your melee units. Then have Cavalry or your Line units flank around and shoot them from the side or back.
I've personally never cheated in a total war game, unless playing the campaign on easy, with battles on hard counts as cheating.
I did that for a Prussia game in empire, All hail the global german Republic.
I managed to capture all of the former british colonies in NA, due to them being at war with Spain and never sending any reinforcements, while I just shipped down a fleet split in half, and two stacks, and took over all the spanish claimed areas.
