black ship is basically super navy if you can maintain it
so I'm assuming the #1 mod to go to for medieval is darthmod?
[editline]20th December 2012[/editline]
or would Stainless Steel be a better choice?
Stainless Steel by far, or Third Age.
Darthmod is best for Empire
do mods not work with the steam version? I can't get SS to work.

SS is cool but I'd recommend DLV.

I found this, maybe it'll work now.

They do, I've got SS on my M2TW on Steam.
This has probably been asked at least a million times, but which mods should I get for Empire TW? I currently have the vanilla game plus a couple of the unit packs that I just bought in the Steam sale (£0.99 each).

Darthmod. Without a doubt.

Cheers. Will have a look now. Any other suggestions?
Like I said earlier, Darthmod is all you need for Empire in my opinion. Also regarding mods with Medieval 2 and Steam, they work. What seems to be the problem?

I got it working eventually by using a user made launcher that replaces the vanilla one. To my disappointment though SS isn't as good as I thought it would be :v:.
Ok, help needed. I installed Darthmod for Empire and tried to start a new campaign and continue a current one. Both resulted in the loading screen coming up and then a crash about ten seconds after.
Anyone else had this problem, or any ides to fix this? I've verified the game files and I have two DLC packs installed.

Try out DLV 6.0
Does anyone want to play multiplayer Rome Total War with/against me?

Soon, maybe. Where are you located?
California.
Edit: So PST
Only get Stainless Steel if your comp runs good, as the turn times take too long for my taste, just like DLV.
But Third Age is definitely a must, runs a whole bunch of scripts like SS, but the load times are -much- faster, well in my experience.
DarthMod has always been my favorite mod.
Finally got Darthmod working. It's pretty nice, I really like the renaissance art that they put it. Makes it feel a bit more authentic.

Well, sorry I was late. If you have winter break, maybe we can make a big ol' Facepunch game!
Darthmod is genius, after sometime it was the only reason i was playing Empire, was so fed up with vanilla.

Yeah I have winter break, but do you mean hotseat campaign or multiplayer battles? I was talking about multiplayer battles.
Personally, I feel that the Ikko Ikki and Otomo campaigns are pretty fun. Though, Otomo is mostly fun because of how powerful they can get. Ikko Ikki, on the other hand, is worth it because it adds a new religion mechanic with the Ikko revolts.
Unit packs aren't exceptionally necessary, but the Sengoku Jidai pack is pretty decent and attempts to add some variety to the clans.
Haven't tried the RotS campaign yet, but I heard it's a bit slower than the other campaigns and has a heavier focus on bows? Plus, everything is in loose formation by default.

It's great that you don't have to deal with fixed artillery
I was thinking of getting Shogun 2 and Rise of the Samurai campaign and they cost about 13 euro now. Do you think it will go lower than that (66% off)? Already have FotS, but I want to try with traditional armies also.
[editline]23rd December 2012[/editline]
And is there any clan/unit pack dlc I should get?
I dunno if you're still lookin for suggestions but the Hattori clan pack is loads of fun. You start right next to Kyoto and if you ally with the other super ninja clan next toy you(Oda I think) then you can do shit like starting numerous proxy wars whilst being protected solely by your allegiance with the Shogunate.
Fucking hell, those Westeros guys are really doing good work. Their House Lannister preview just came out, fucking beautiful units. And all the information about the campaign mechanics sounds heavenly.

Uh, beautiful? Sounds like a pretty cool mod actually, but...

looks like vanilla to me.

That is a vanilla Medieval II crossbowman.
I want you to think about what you said very hard.
I can't wait to see the stuff the modding community comes up with for Rome 2
