I can't wait to see the stuff the modding community comes up with for Rome 2
There won't be anything close to what they did for Med2 sadly. Each game gets progressively less mod friendly.
Both look equally 2002.
It was a good year.
Also I have no idea what nation to play as in Darthmod.
Tell me which and I will compose a series of let's plays for you guys.
I'm thinking of getting Shogun 2 in the steam sale, is it worth it?
Both look equally 2002.
are you fucking expecting mod developers to revamp a game released in 2006 to make it look next gen? the models infinitely better than vanilla, yet you have the audacity to say this looks the same as this

I'm not expecting anything lol. He just called something rather average beautiful. The engine was made a long time ago, so I don't expect them to look particularly nice anyway. Who knows what 1500 high polycount soldiers would do to the game, but that still doesn't make it good looking.
[editline]26th December 2012[/editline]
But they do look pretty much the same. Sorry. Even if the mod vs vanilla is the difference between say 2005 and 2004, it's no large improvement.

In his defense that is the picture from the crossbowman unit card. Find one from in-game with highest settings and look at it

Full graphical settings, high resolution, all that shit. It still looks like shite, even more so compared to the Westeros models.
There won't be anything close to what they did for Med2 sadly. Each game gets progressively less mod friendly.
Except CA just released mod tools for Shogun.
And a while back they released the map editor.
Do your homework

Looks exactly like the unit card lol.
[editline]26th December 2012[/editline]
It's not that Westeros are worse, they're just on the same level.
[editline]26th December 2012[/editline]
In fact there aren't any TW mods that I know of that actually improve the graphics from a model standpoint.
It's not that Westeros are worse, they're just on the same level.
They really aren't dude.
In fact there aren't any TW mods that I know of that actually improve the graphics from a model standpoint.
Aside from Westeros, Third Age has some high quality models. So does Rusichi I believe, though I've yet to play it.
lol their 2002 models for a game that supports hundreds of soldiers

Thanks for contributing.
Well anyway I am playing as Scotland and having no troubles at all.
I literally just steamrolled all over Britain and into France.

Different game but Roma Serructum 2
That made Rome look ten times better...
I actually like Medieval 2's graphics a lot. Even now
Except CA just released mod tools for Shogun.

Just because the game has a map editor doesn't mean it's mod friendly. Mod tools are nice and all but TW games have steadily become harder to mod post Med2. Look at the massive improvements and new features SS or DLV add to Med2 compared to "overhaul" mods for Empire/Nap/Shogun. Hell, in Med2 you could simply edit txt files to unlock any nation you wanted, add buildings to settlements, customize generals traits/ancillaries etc etc(hell you could also do this all ingame even). Hell Empire and Shogun will shit all over themselves when you use an "unlocked" nation
You will never see megamods like Third Age or the Warhammer mod for newer TW games.
I always hated how they don't allow you to play as any nation.
They are all there, and have all the of units. Why the shit can't I play as them?

The corporate beast has awakened in CA. They must feed it with the 4.99$ per DLC, else it will turn on them instead and devour them whole.
Call Of Warhammer has some nice looking models in it and its a really good mod altogether
lol their 2002 models for a game that supports hundreds of soldiers

Except they're not. They're from a game released at the end of a generations cycle and have graphics that are top of the line for 2006.
There's a lot of progress if you look from medieval 1, which came out in 2002, and Medieval 2.

We won't need Third Age or Call of Warhammer.
CA is doing that for us. They are teaming up with GW to do Warhammer games. GW also owns rights to LOTR content.
AKA who needs mods to make those games, then CA is releasing those as full fledged games?
[editline]29th December 2012[/editline]
Call Of Warhammer has some nice looking models in it and its a really good mod altogether
Worst thing of Call of Warhammer is the wizards.
Wizards are OP mang. One unit of Bright Wizards or Flamers of Tzeench will wipe out an army.
AKA who needs mods to make those games, then CA is releasing those as full fledged games?
CA and GW teaming up to make an unconfirmed and hypothetical Warhammer game is not justification for removing all mod tools and thus the possibility for a broad scope of mods outside of that context.
What a silly and, if deliberate, evil thing to wish on any game and their modders.
I think individual mod teams creating their own mods can do a better job of representing the community's desires in-game and can also go into much further depth than CA in their varying subjects and goals.
Also its all about freedom of choice. The more options you have the better game it is and the longer it lasts. I mean hell we still frequently play Rome and Medieval II, even though they came out over half a decade ago. Why? Because of their ease of moddability.
What is the best mod for MTW2?
We won't need Third Age or Call of Warhammer.
I think my post went entirely over your head.
Those mods were examples and the last sentence is pretty much a tl;dr
You will never see megamods like Third Age or the Warhammer mod for newer TW games.
imo, Deus lo Vult
It always feels so refreshing to make an artillery camper rage quit on Shogun 2.
It's hilarious in Empire when there's these random wars.
Like Sweden declaring war on the Ottomans, and staying at war, for like, 20 years even though no blows have been dealt.

"MOD TOOLS ARE REMOVED DURR HURR I'M FUCKING RETARDED"
How are mod tools unsupported/removed if CA released mod tools that allow completely mod able campaigns and units etc...?

That shit pisses me off. Ill set up trade with the Ottomans/Maratha/Russia then later on someone who is geographically incapable of waging war with them will declare war. Ultimately this always ends up in said nations port being 24/7 blockaded and the AI will rarely try to drive the enemy fleet away.
Oh yea 3k ivory trade lane with the Ottomans.
Britain has declared war on the Ottoman Empire.
2 Brigs blockade the Ottoman's trade port until the end of time
:suicide:
Are there any mods that make the standerd shogun 2 campain use the same season rotation as fall of the samurai?
What is the best mod for MTW2?
I'd say Third Age if you want a complete overhaul. And it has some sub-mods which make so much better. There's also ones like Stainless Steel, which I never played, but it's apparently really good. And some lesser known ones like The Last Kingdom, which focuses on Britain during the Viking Age, and Bellum Crucis, and Italian mod that completely revamps the game mainly through the use of heavy scripting.
So those lads at Westeros posted two new previews for New Years. One of House Tyrell of Highgarden, and one of the custom battlefields they are producing, including Moat Cailan and the Neck. Looking good.
