S.T.A.L.K.E.R Series Megathread: Horseradish Carnage Suit edition.

I'm loving everything about SHoC except a few things that most people already know about.
1) When you load a save, the people are doing the actions they did before you loaded. It's a good thing I save so often, because otherwise everyone would always know where I was.
2) The missions can fuck themselves over sometimes. I just got a mission to defend the border from Monolith, shot a bunch of them, then went back to the dude only to have him tell me to do it again. It actually popped up while there were 3 guys left "Go see the outpost commander." I'm saying to myself "what?"
But you know, the sooner I beat it, the sooner I get to play with mods.
[B]Edit:[/B] And what the fuck is with the ambient sound that sounds like a cat? It's the only ambient noise that freaks me out.
Mission help, one of the first missions so;
[sp]How do I get onto the second level of the Barge that glows, one of the first missions.[/sp]
Also, how do I know where radiation is before I'm exposed to it?

[sp]Look around the back, as far as I remember it was kind of an obstacle course.[/sp]
Bring vodka.
Never mind, I found out how to get to the top.

If it's anything like SHoC and CS, listen for Geiger counter clicks, and in areas of severe radiation, there may be a distortion effect in the air above it.
But they may have made it invisible and inaudible now.
I keep walking around and before I hear anything I suddenly have a green radiation symbol and I walk into a radiation field.
Well surely if it's only green then it's not too major and you could probably walk it off if you stay out of it?

One of the mutants that got cut from the game was a mutant cat, so I guess they drew that sound effect from there.
Maybe, I'm now losing Health. I just get OCD when I see the green radiation symbol and assume I'm dieing so I waste my Anti-Rad.

Go get yourself a few anti-radiation artifact. Immensely useful because you can just walk through heavily irradiated areas. Use your detector and search all the anomalies and you're bound to find one.
The problem with anti-radiation artifacts is that they are rare. Jellyfishes, Twists and Bubbles are hard to come by.
[editline]11:22PM[/editline]
And by the time you can buy them from Beard, you've already got them. The first part of the game mostly relies on Anti-Rads and Vodka.
[editline]11:24PM[/editline]
But, If I remember correctly - minor artifact spoiler - [sp]There should be a Jellyfish in the Claw Anomaly right in the middle of Zaton. Near the Gas Station.[/sp]
CoP is much better then the first two. It's has better performance, I can run it on Max with no lag.
The artifact hunting is always fun. Going out on a artifact hunt now infact.

holy shit I just heard about this game, saw some trailers for it, looks fucking radical.
In case you weren't aware of it, it's being made by people who split off of GSC a year before SHOC came out and it uses the Xray engine. PC and a 360 release, March 16th for US, 19th for the rest of y'all
[editline]04:00PM[/editline]
it makes my penis smile
That game is the entire reason STALKER CoP was delayed so long for us. Regardless it's badass looking. Also, I found some Mama's Beads in the Boiler.

It's going to be a near rail-shooter with shitty AI.
One of few things I hate about Call of Pripyat. There are not many human enemies like before.
$60 later I will be able to get CoP.
I'm sure earning money in the zone would be alot easier than Finding a job at the moment, As long as you stay out of the way, collecting artifacts.
[QUOTE=Akuma_lektro;20008979]Is it me or does it feel like call of pripyat has a lot less replay value than soc?[/QUOTE]
In some point I got to agree, mainly because if you play nice you won't have any conflicts unless with mutants. Bandits are neutral, Mercs also and Duty, Freedom and even the military.
It's also less random. But overall the sidemissions are fucking awesome and the mainstory and the Zone itself.

Pretty much sums it up.
Also, mods will sure change that.
I just realized that if I bought CoP on steam and add -windowed to the launch parameters that I could play it. Now I just need to get it somehow.
[editline]04:18PM[/editline]
It's not on steam? :emo:
What the hell am I going to do guys? I can't afford to get a new graphics card, I don't even know if that it the problem.
Oh shit, I was hanging around right now and suddenly my ear started to make a 'beeeeeeeeeep', the sound those fucking controllers make your ears listen, and I inmediately shat bricks. Luckily it wasn't pretty loud and lasted only a few seconds...
Will I be alright? :ohdear:
Talking about these guys, it's awesome to take out your rpg, get in front of them, wait for them to psimesswithyourmind and right when the camera is going to focus at them, shoot the goddamn rpg and watch in rejoice how the rocket approaches the fucker and blows him the hell up, from the fucking perspective of the rocket.
Howdy-Ho STALKER.
I'm already having big problems with CoP.
First off, it takes ages to load. I've already tried defragging and whatnot but it didn't have any effect.
Second, if I press Esc to pause the game it simply freezes and I have to ctr+alt+del and close it from the task manager.
Has anyone else had these problems?
Also I'm using W7 x64.
I don't have any of those problems. Just for reference. Possibly your computer is bad. Try to turn on static lighting and if the problem persists you can lower the graphics.

Never before have I loved sniping this much. (I was sitting on the ridge right at the branch line of the first tree dead ahead)
P.S. : There are more bodies, but I could not get all of them due to how crappy the screenshot would look.
Another comic in making, should be done tomorrow.
I need sleep naow

:saddowns:
Fighting mutants is okay, but they have so much health you just spray them with bullets. When you're fighting bandits or whatever you have to take cover, aim for the head, ect.
[editline]05:55PM[/editline]
Needs more CoP quotes.
"Howdy-Ho STALKER"
"Nah, it's okay, fuhgetaboutit"
Anyway, I'm waiting for day break in some random ship because there is no bed in here and it's too dark and raining to get back to the bar.
[editline]05:58PM[/editline]
Raiskauskone, your old avatar was better.
The fuck, I ran CoP benchmark at High Enhan Full Dynamic Lighting at Dx10.1, SSAO High but no AA, 1050p and it jittered like a cunt.
Ran again later at Ultera, Enhan Full Dynamic Lighting at Dx10.1 SSAO max no AA at 1050p and was pretty damn smooth. SAKE
