I called every place that sells games near me and no one has it...
Gamespot gave Call of Pripyat an 8.0. Rather low to me, but hey, I'm an insane S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan. It's a page long, but it does get down to the juicy details without going off into something that doesn't need to much attention to it. What makes me wonder is why they gave it an 8.0. They a had a lot of good things to say about it and very little to criticize it for, the reviewer was very familiarized with previous games and was able to list what was new and what was improved. They also defended the hard difficulty, saying that it was just a matter of how you play that dictates the difficulty. Basically, they didn't consider it as a con. Hell, just read it here. Another review said that too much of the game is spent traveling, it's obvious some of these reviewers are not finishing game. If you didn't know already, almost every Stalker group in the zone can take you somewhere. For example, I was walking back the Trader Boat at sun-down. I still had a good distance to go. I came upon a random group of Stalker's walking in the same direction, I asked them where they were going and they happened to be going to the same location. You have the ability to ask them to tag along with them and you will instantly be teleported to the destination with the group for free, the time changes as well to give you the feeling that you actually traveled. If you want them to go somewhere else they they are not going, you can pay them a small fee based on distance to all the different locations in the map. A very clever solution to traveling!
How the fuck do you get inside Jupiter?
I would Love to be able to reveiw games for a living. And not be a dick who only plays MW2 and those types of games. I find many different games fun, But the funnest so far has to be Stalker. Lucky bastards who do, and get the games free..... only real dislike is Halo really.

at least it's above average.
Above average? That would be 6/10. 8 is great, especially since most games that are above that mark are extremely hyped twitchfests. 9 would be extremely good and 10 would be taking the piss and mean that the reviewer is a fanboy idiot. Reviews are rarely reliable anyway, great games often get scores around 7/10 if they're a bit odd.
Just ordered it off of newegg.

Halo 3 had a story? I had no idea.

2,000th post. I think it belongs here. I'm installing all 3 Stalker games on my MacBook's Windows 7 partition so I can play when I got to parent's house or on the go. I ran Shadow of Chernobyl on medium/high with static lighting at 1280x800 so hopefully Clear Sky and and Call of Pripyat will run too.
^That is fucked up. Never have played a game with a story anywhere near amazing as Stalker, except maybe halflife. Also bungie buys lots of ads, and game sites usually get more cash when they give good reviews, or its in their best interest. Edit: Guy above me. Clear sky will be a pain to run Cop will be great. I say look for a tweak guide for Clear sky unless you want lag. Also I am jealous of your stalker on the go despite bad gfx.
Halo 3 had a story? I had no idea.
Big green guy fucks male bloodfuckers. The end.
Beginning of the Gamespot article explains the bad story rating. Odd cutscenes that don't convey the "drama" as they call it. Topped off with little information towards the end. I played the game with russian cutscenes on my first 2 playthroughs, so can't say much about that except that when I saw them in English it wasn't so great. Then the little explanation of the story. They are kind of right about the ending area. It seemed when I played Pripyat was rushed, in a sense that there was no exploring missions/tasks that would get the average gamer to explore. I'd say they are almost right on the story part, but not enough to warrant a weak story rating. If a person were to buy Cop and play it without any knowledge from the 2 others, they would certainly be dumbfounded or atleast sketchy in a few backstory details.

Fuck, I was hoping I had the same one. I have one from late 2007..Uses the Intel GMA x3100 :( I can't even play SoC on lowest settings.
Big green guy fucks male bloodfuckers. The end.
what a great story! [editline]05:39PM[/editline]
Ah. Fuck, I was hoping I had the same one. Oh, man. This Zulu guy drinks more then my dad.
My main complaint against these reviewers is how they are sizing up these games in their own mind before they play them. This generally leads to their disappointment if it is not what they expected it to be. If you were hoping for non-stop FPS action with CoP, that is your problem, not the game's problem. To me, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a blend of FPS and RPG, so it must be rated for how it blends those, not by Modern Warfail 2 standards.
Oh, man. This Zulu guy drinks more then my dad.
I love Zulu, he is one of the most laid back Duty guys I've seen in the Zone.
what a great story! [editline]05:39PM[/editline] oh, thats lame.
Yeah, it sucks. :(
