correct me if I'm wrong, but 12PMish GMT-6 is like 6PM GMT+0? (or whatever you decide it to be so long as it's midday-ish)
Cus I could probably make that and would be kinda interested. I've never done online RPGs before, and I don't have a great deal of experience with Dark Heresy, so if that's a problem then say.
The way I've decided the players will be generating characters I selected from the DMG.
My first ruleset was 1e so I've always enjoyed the mindset where Heroes are made not born, hence why I've always (as a player) preferred simple deterministic stats (ie in any edition of D&D 3d6 straight down), but I know that many people don't like being limited so harshly, and Gygax realized after basic caught on that for beginning players to be so harshly limited is--to put it bluntly--poor design.
Level one is lethal, make no mistake, you roll your hitpoints and pray that you don't get a 1 (I'll be a little lax but sometimes it's more fun starting at 1, makes things interesting). In any case I went with the fourth option.
Each player rolls 12 sets of abilities and may choose to play any one of those sets.
As odd as this sounds hear me out, in real life with only 3d6 this would be unrealistically time consuming, but with a dice bot it takes no time at all and since it's output in order you can easily browse by a particular stat.
Also since Seiteki was forced to roll in order (STR, INT, WIS, DEX, CON, CHA) and he managed to roll a Paladin I didn't want him to feel cheated, since it is extremely unlikely that your first ever character will be a paladin. Thus allowing my two players who have already rolled one set 11 more sets, everyone has an equal chance.
Also just for the know how, updated / repost

Ugh, I hate IRCs...
Why?

Dark Heresy has a pretty soft learning curve and it'd be great to have you onboard. According to: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/gmt-converter/
If it is 11:00AM for me in GMT-6, then assuming you are in England at GMT+0 it would be 17:00 or 5:00PM over there. All this would probably take place on saturday or sunday. Does that work with you?
I'll put you on the list.

yeah that sounds fine, thanks
what software are we using?
What's a sick multi user drawing / sketching / autocad software for cartography?
A bunch of guys who play 2e a lot recommend individuals mapping either by hand with grid paper, ms paint, group session flockdraw, if you share maps or whatever that's up to you.
Their direct quote was "Share maps? Why? I had my map, they had theirs, if their map was wrong they died"
I found a sweet program which is good for drawing your own maps called Digigraph 2, it has some issues but if you exclusively use line tools + undo then it works awesomely.

For chat and gameplay: steam chat probably.
For rolling die, a dice room so we can see each others results: http://rolz.org/group.
For combat: I'm not sure. I used to use googledocs to create and share rough maps with the players and to allow them to move their character pieces around at the same time. If there's a better way, I'd love to hear it.
I've been hanging out on this 2e IRC, it's awesome.
Most of them see the game so differently than everyone brought up on 3.x it's so oddly refreshing
I think I'm going to back out of the 1e game.

That's 10:45 for me, not gonna work out, damnit.
I don't know if I'll be able to be in the IRC this evening, I've made myself available to you guys, if someone (seiteki or chao) will over see your rolls then feel free to do your rolls in front of them, I'll glance over the log.

Yep +1 guy, this shit is definitely happening, I'll try to make myself available in irc / steam / pm
We seem to have determined a good starting time for the first Dark Heresy session but we still need a few more players. Seriously, even if you've just been lurking all this time and want to try out an online RPG, go ahead and send me a PM.
Our first session will mostly consist of character creation and going over the general rules of DH so we're all going to be on the same page when we start.

Is it allowed to discuss other Table tops & Pen and paper RPGs here? Like Shadowrun
Is it allowed to discuss other Table tops & Pen and paper RPGs here? Like Shadowrun
Yes.
I should really rename the thread to something like Pen & Paper General.

What happened to board game discussion anyway?
What happened to board game discussion anyway?
Board game discussion has nothing to do with P&P RPGs, also I enjoy how your avatar says proud IE user but you posted from firefox.
Moving on to topic, show up tonight guys, it's gonna be good. I'll go over your characters with you quickly, make sure you have everything in line.
I'll give a run-down on how things are going to play out and then I'll give you guys a little bit to come up with a quick story behind why you're
adventuring and why you might be travelling with some of the people you are with.
So would Narsil from the LotR films be an example of a basterd (or bastard) sword?

On the right, from 3.5 player's handbook.
Anyone interested in getting a legit DDO group going?
Anyone interested in getting a legit DDO group going?
Sure, im down.
Haven't played in like two years, are wizards still the undisputed masters of one vs one PVP fights?
So... is that a yes to my Narsil question?

No, it's Savant Sorcerers now. Specifically water savants. They throw around something like 4,000 damage polar rays.
*edit*
I'm on Khyber.

...Four thousand damage?
In something even remotely connected to Dungeons and Dragons?
What the fuck?
Also, i was on Thelanis, but my character was only about level 6, and to be honest i want to start a new one anyway, so im fine with whatever server, really.

I already have a good idea why, I was told about an evil place remotely nearby.
I must purge.
The others coming along can help?
