Dragoon
Combat/Stealth
The dragoon is a quick, yet deadly, force. They rely on speed to take down their opponents, with quick stabs and parrying hits. The dragoon -almost always- uses a spear, usually paired with a shield. Sometimes a dragoon uses magic, although those are the rarer ones. Their spears allow for longer range combat then weapons like swords. Yet, as a backup weapon, dragoons mostly learn the way of wielding a shortsword or casting cantrips.
Dragoons, in Forsaken villages, usually serve as the Village Elder's personal guard, and compose most of their army.
Dragoons usually serve as the first wave of soldiers in an army, as shock troops.
The dragoon gains the following for free:
Spear Usage (Weapon Style)
Spear-and-Shield (Weapon Style)
Leap-Jab (Combat Move)
Hide (Utility Move)
Improved Dodging (Feat)
Cast Cantrips (Feat) or Shortsword Usage (Weapon Style)
Maybe you should divide spears into light/short spears and heavy/long spears, since having a large spear and shield wouldn't be too useful, since what's the use of the shield if you cannot hit anyone with the spear while being in shield range and vice-versa?
This would also sort out using a high-damage spear with a shield which I presume to give you a decent amount of defensive bonuses.
Rod of Wonder is such a wonderful item.
My party of three was doing a generic dungeon and fighting a bunch of easy skeleton rogues. Me, with my gnome summoner, didn't really have anything to do after buffing the party with haste, so I decided to fuck around with Rod of Wonder, pointing it at the skeletons.
First cast: I turn into a moving statue giving me 8 hardness. Awesome.
Second Cast: The person next to me gets affected by continuous Confusion, making them have 75% chance of not doing what they want on their turn. Shit.
Third Cast: Instead of learning my lesson and stop using the damn thing, I use it again. Anti Magic Field centered on the caster. I was now useless with practically no damage with my crossbow because no spellcasting.
So, after crippling the party with this we barely get through the last boss of the dungeon with our Magus almost dying. After the dungeon, I decide that I haven't learned my lesson and go use the Rod of Wonder randomly on my eidolon companion.
"Wielder becomes a member of the opposite sex."
Shit.
Just another day in the realm of madness that is the average GM's mind.
Also, big bad evil Maximo just lost 120 of the goblins from his army in one turn.
If that's the case, I'd gladly participate in a game of Dungeons and Dragons. I am a complete newbie, so whatever system or "guide" is used, doesn't matter to me; I'm open for everything since this'll be my first experience with a table top.
Preferably on the weekend (Friday- Sunday)
Do you need any special equipment ? Like a book, dice, map or some certain info ?

You need a book or two for whatever game system you're using, but you can acquire .pdfs of those if so inclined.

What excitement lies ahead? What dangers will they face? Will they ever find the body of their Arbitrator companion? (No they won't, he picked the wrong door and fell half a mile to his death)
Find out tomorrow following the next exciting episode of The Dark Heresy Chronicles.
My sorcerer now has better fire breath than the half dragon in the party.
We still need 2 more people for our session, we just lost our Sorc, and things are going to slowly with just 4 of us
No Malks of any level of aquaticity in this cotorie.
are there Lancea Sanctum?
If the answer is "yes" watch out, if not, then there should be the average level of screwing. As a game maker your job is to attempt to screw your players if they do something stupid, but vampires love screwing each other (in more ways than one). It all depends on whether the people you're playing with are Muchkins, fishmalks, Lancea Sanctum, or straight dumbasses or not, and each game is different, even with the same classes just by different people. Granted I've only ever played old world of darkness, so what do I know?

Well, Large Spears are unable to be wielded along with a shield or spell.
And yes, using a shield gives defensive bonuses.

Coulda sworn it was an Old WoD larp I went to... meh, it was one time, I was a freshmen in college and I was experimenting! I'm not a REAL larper... it was just "practice". [/overlylonglesbianmetaphor]
Anyway, we may be the worst acolytes ever in Dark Heresy.

I wouldn't say worst - just very unorthodox.
To recap: The party landed on the feudal world of Adluvio in Port Trasium, a rather desolate low-tech landing facility. They entered the decrepit lobby of the port to find a secretary just sitting there. After a little coercing, lying, and boasting, the party managed to convince the hag that the team were not off-worlders, and were merely squires/followers/companions of "Sir" Brynjolf of Connery (Brynjolf being the only time-relevant dressed one in feudal knight's armor). With a push of a button they were ushered into a hallway which was immediately sealed from behind by a large metal door. A robotic voice came over the PA and began counting down dramatically slowly from 10 as clouds of white gas began pouring from the floor. The party scrambled about like mice trying (and failing) to get the doors open while they awaited their fate. When the timer hit 0 they were declared sanitized by the ominous sanitation unit and released onto the streets of Port Trasium much to their relief.
The first concern of the party was that of exchanging their Imperial Thrones for the local currency, naturally deciding theft was the only way to accomplish this. As they searched for a rich bloke to pickpocket, they found a rather fanciful gentlemen prancing about with a cane and tights; Brynjolf took the opportunity to ask for some spare cash, the man only responding with insults and spitting on the ground. The team decided that the best course of action would be to then challenge said noble to a duel by pimp-slapping the fellow with an armored gauntlet to the face. The deed was done, the challenge issued, and a tournament of honor was fated for the morrow.
Money was still the main issue at hand so the acolytes decided to scout out the noble houses and see if they can't do a B&E followed by swiping loot. They clambered into someone's back garden and began scaling the back walls of the house. Brynjolf and Zarkov tried and failed to scale the brickwork, yet the psyker managed to pull himself up on his own, despite being able to walk up walls with his phenomenal powers. Inside the room were several buxom maidens bathing in honey, milk, etc while the humble psyker felt a small part of him grow three sizes that day. Brynjolf attempted once more, succeeding, trading places with the psyker, only to blow his cover by attempting to serenade the maidens whilst hanging from the ledge. Imagine: said maidens were just bathing themselves, having a good time, when suddenly you hear a soft crooning coming from the window, only to see a black, metal helm peeping through your window, singing to you while it just watches. They ran away screaming of course; the party cheesed it.
To keep it brief, the party went to the hospital to find the infamous Dr. Zarkov Immeritus, only to seemingly be absent from the hospital tucked away somewhere beyond the city in her own compound. They bothered a plague doctor for a while before he starting getting annoyed and left them to tend to his patients. The cell decided to go talk to the Governor to get some more info.
This is where is gets good. Instead of waiting for day break or finding a sneaky way in, the party ended up approaching from behind his manor, breaking through the solid stone wall, killing a guard via a curbstomp and mauling the other, followed by "Sir" Brynjolf smashing through the glass backdoor with his head as a platoon of guards approached. They encountered a decrepit 80-year old, wheelchair-bound, scullery maid who Brynjolf, being Brynjolf, decided to flirt with her in a wholly unprecedented manner, succeeding by a massive degree. He then sent his new girlfriend/grandmother to take on the guards to convince them that: "We're not bad dudes, it's all just a big misunderstanding." She went.
And at the end of the session they finally encountered the Governor, who was furious, and somehow miraculously managed to convince him that one of his most trusted business partners was evil, a heretic, poisoning the population, and should tell them where to find her. He did.
Not exactly a brilliantly-planned session, it felt kind of like an episode of the A-Team.
I still laughed my head off and now have to wrap up all these mini-plots somehow. God-Emperor, this is a great game.
Nitro, I would like to point out that if I spammed my abilities any more I'm sure the dice gods would shit on me and give me phenomena out the wazoo, as it stands I've only had one, and with no problems whats-so-ever.
Also you left out he part where I WEAPONIZED HEAL and disabled someone from full to no health in one round.

Last time i played Dark Heresy i joined the obvious bad guys, that's pretty much worse than anything you could have done.
Oh and i was a psyker, and one of those kinds that spam their powers all the time for no reason to try and get phenomena.

I never said you didn't. The healing-to-hurting thing was rather clever. Phenomena aren't always too bad, what's the worst that could happen?
Oh... instant death.
(I was talking about wallwalking when I said spamming my abilities)
Oh... instant death.
Only on a good day.
No more comments on my Shadowstalker and Dragoon?

Pretty sure you can just use a fate point and re-roll for a different phenomena.

Tried that, didn't work since DM said NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, still only blinked out of existance for a second though, so it wasn't so bad.
doomkiwi, accept my invite on steam already
So, I was invited to a game («I never played DnD before) and was given a huge book to read, I skimmed through it but didn't memorize much. Sadly that game ended up being abandoned, I never got to play my little fighter bastard son of a lord who wants to prove his valor to the nobility and dig himself out of the hole his birth put him into.
Is anyone doing a newbie game?

There is a group looking for players, I think it was a caster they were hoping for.
I realized a bonus to getting this new job.
I'll be in a town with a FLGS.
I pretty much know nothing about the game, just a heads up to anyone willing to let me in :v: I'm GMT + 0, btw.

Sent an invite over Steam to discuss a campaign we could let you in on.
I was already contacted by Hellsoldier, are you in the same party?
