The name is something that can be talked about and refined, but I mean the idea is cool IMHO and that way we could have much bigger games going on because we'd have more dudes. [editline]3rd August 2012[/editline] also I can finally make my "Crazy DnD Stories v.1: Old Man Henderson and the Rogue Bear" thread
guys guys hear me out. what if we had like... a tabletop gaming subforum devoted to shit like DnD, Magic, Pokemon, Warhammer, etc. that'd be great because not only would it give those audiences a nice area to chill in, it would also attract new members that are looking for DnD/Magic/Whatever groups because Facepunch is actually way up there in the Google Searches bullshit just imagine that. If I can get some guys to back me up I might ask about it to one of the big dogs in the forum.
It'd probably be full of mostly dead threads, instead of one fairly active one. [editline]3rd August 2012[/editline] On the other hand, OPs that would actually get updated.

This is the second time the thread has been remade, if there was something insane like multiple large threads (v5 and up) for multiple role playing games then a sub-forum would be worthwhile. As it is there's not enough interest.

One of the hardest parts of GMing has to be keeping combat interesting with description. "You slice past his armor in one fell swoop!" gets boring after the 7th time.
Alright, so we need 1 more player again for my Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay game. Surprised people show so little interest in this.
One of the hardest parts of GMing has to be keeping combat interesting with description. "You slice past his armor in one fell swoop!" gets boring after the 7th time.
Your players should be too worried about dying to get bored.
Jesus saves! [sp]Allah rolls a three and takes full damage.[/sp]
i'm starting up a game of Paranoia (slapstick sci-fi spaceman role playing game similar to SS13). we will be playing over voice, and good roleplaying is essential to this game, so if you are interested contact me on steam. I can help you learn the game, and will guide you through making your character sheet.
Currently I'm designing a world to have pathfinder campaigns on. The first one I hope to have the party start off doing random adventures, end up caught in the human civil war (They ignite it after all the waiting), choose a side or go on their own, then fight with the old human kingdom that's full of undead and such and kill a demi-god. So far I've been fleshing out peoples backgrounds and decided I wanted to have miniatures for everyone the players meet. One of the humans Factions are called Velassi, led by Sir James. He's a paladin that overthrew the previous king after he started hearing voices in his head and used necromancy. He is also directly related to the Demi-God and in his adventures before becoming King the first Elf nearly killed him when mistaking him for the Old Evil. As King, he wants to unite all of the Human Kingdoms. Currently I was thinking of using this model to basicly sum up what he looks like http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/paladin/latest/60119. In the campaign, based on the players actions, they could push other NPCs to their edge and becoming evil (If they're not already). Such as joining a faction opposing James and beating his kingdom to the point he becomes desperate to retain control.

I like the whole "civil war" part a lot.
Jesus saves! [sp]Allah rolls a three and takes full damage.[/sp]
Yeah but Jesus is rolling a monk so he'd take half damage anyways thanks to improved evasion.
Yeah but Jesus is rolling a monk so he'd take half damage anyways thanks to improved evasion.
I would have thought a Messiah character would be a Cleric, because Clerics are just bullshit.
I would have thought a Messiah character would be a Cleric, because Clerics are just bullshit.
Druids are still the best.
Druids are still the best.
At least Druids aren't completely deceptive in their class role. When I thought of Clerics I thought of ultra-squishy healy-turn-undead-and-such mages, not "ultra good at absolutely anything, all other classes are pansies" bullshittery.

They have the highest survivability of any class in the game though.
They're really not that great at offense. They have the highest survivability of any class in the game though.
Bleh, they should be squishy healers, not frontliners.
Bleh, they should be squishy healers, not frontliners.
Have all warforged party. Wizards equal healers. Clerics equal useless. Problem solved... kind of.
Have all warforged party. Wizards equal healers. Clerics equal useless. Problem solved... kind of.
Bloody Clerics, think they're so great. At least 4e made non-magic classes worth a damn, from what I hear.
Bloody Clerics, think they're so great. At least 4e made non-magic classes worth a damn, from what I hear.
At lower levels everything beats spellcasters. And asssuming the fighters and whatnot have gotten decent magical items they can usually keep up with the spellcasters somewhat in higher levels as well.
Clerics are fun to play, though, you're never useless.
Clerics are fun to play, though, you're never useless.
I'm sure i can make a cleric build that's basically useless.
Since I'm going to GM a Dark Heresy game with some friends (first time I ever even play, but I'm the only one that knows enough of 40k and the only one I trust as GM to be honest) through the internet, are there any essential/useful tools/programs? Not necessarily DH-related, just stuff that is useful for all kinds of RPGs. Dice rolls and whatnot. It's not D&D, but I figured it's better to ask this here than in the Warhammer thread (not WH either actually, just RPG general) as this is dedicated to a pen&paper RPG (also knowing FP this has already turned into RPG general chat anyway).

Fairly light, but it's been known to have some light bugs. There's also http://roll20.net/ that is used as a browser-based tabletop map/initiative tracker/dice room or what have you. I haven't used it yet, but some folk in this thread might've so maybe they can give you the beef on it.

But if you want you can use Roll20 which is entirely browser based and will help with maps and dice rolling and all that jazz, or you can use Maptools which is a clunky piece of shit but you can set up some crazy macros and stuff, it has some very good options for dice rolling. Nitrowing is the one who DM's our Dark Heresy game, and Drunkenmoose, xxfalcon, Doomkiwi, and myself have all been in the game since it started so we know the ~ins and outs~ pretty well by now if you have any questions about Dark Heresy. Gonna try it, but I'm keeping my optimism bound up and gagged under my chair for the moment. The dice room could come in handy thanks, as rolling privately might cause some suspicion for lucky ones.

[editline]4th August 2012[/editline] Damnit Moose
Thanks, only question I have is: How do GM's remember all those little specific rules that only apply in some cases, and how fucked am I GMing when it's the first time I play a pen&paper RPG? Also I found that you can impersonate characters as GM in the chat for Roll20. I made 6 of them and we're having a tea party, should I call my psychologist?
And asssuming the fighters and whatnot have gotten decent magical items they can usually keep up with the spellcasters somewhat in higher levels as well.
What, in 3e? Haha no not at all.
What, in 3e? Haha no not at all.
When I played 3.5e I felt all I was able to do was sit there and look average with 11 Charisma...
