Thanks, only question I have is: How do GM's remember all those little specific rules that only apply in some cases, and how fucked am I GMing when it's the first time I play a pen&paper RPG? Also I found that you can impersonate characters as GM in the chat for Roll20. I made 6 of them and we're having a tea party, should I call my psychologist?
How do they? In my experience, they don't, and its not really their job to. If there's some oft-forgotten rule that applies a bonus or somesuch it's mostly up to the players to remember the rule and bring it up. An example from Dark Heresy is that if you're a Void Born, every time a player spends a fate point they can roll a 1d10, and on a roll of 9 they get the fate point back. It's not the GM's job to remember that they re-roll, it's the players. Stuff like that. In general always keep the rule book open, and if you're one of those people that doesn't like rule checking every ten minutes just roll with it. If you make it fun nobody will care that the rules say otherwise. Also Dark Heresy has a fucking ridiculous power curve, so it may not have been the best game to try out GM'ing with. What I mean is that at Level 1 if someone looks at an acolyte funny the acolyte will fall into a brain seizure and die, but just 2 levels later the acolytes are so powerful its fuckin unreal and they'll breeze through everything in a very frustrating manner. Balance is tough.

I'll probably be rule-bending a lot when the situation calls for it (but only if justifiable with physics and/or facts). I've seen that the rules say it's a lot easier to hit a prone enemy, and while that does make sense if you are standing above him, when far away a prone target is a lot harder to hit, so that's one rule I'll be bending a lot.
Got this guy all painted up. I just need to get a better picture of him.
i'm currently playing a cleric in a 3.5e campaign since we're from level 2-3, the half-giant wolf totem barbarian in our party (i don't know either) is grappling orcs and throwing them at other orcs, dealing most of the damage in our party even though clerics are proficient in heavy armor and every shield except tower, they aren't that great at dealing damage, and are better off spontaneously casting heal spells if they don't have particularly useful spells prepared anyway that's what i've found out from playing lower level campaigns, i haven't really played anything higher than level 8 also the most useful domains imo are travel and healing travel gives you ridiculous domain spells later, and can break campaigns dependent on long distance journeys (but keep in mind it's not fun skipping an epic journey and beating the campaign in like 5 minutes) healing is good in general, a +1 bonus to caster level when using heal spells never hurt anybody

Just accidentally shot Batman with a .357 magnum in this Fallout game.
I'm looking to make my virtual table maps more pretty, but as my drawing skills are non existent, this requires some pre made art assets anybody have some good places to find some general dungeon objects to furnish maps up? would greatly appreciate it
Just discovered this thread. My friends and I learned to play D&D 4e a year ago. We're self taught so we're probably doing something wrong, but we have fun none the less. I've bought into the books and miniatures a lot. Here's a picture I took of my minis, plus a couple other items we use for props
Just accidentally shot Batman with a .357 magnum in this Fallout game.
We also left batman on the bus that the BoS took from us. Shit Bruce, get it together!
At least we managed to get the RPG through the checkpoint, now I've got awesome armour.
At least we managed to get the RPG through the checkpoint, now I've got awesome armour.
You managed to sneak a RPG through a security checkpoint, with 10 speech, that was bloody hilarious. [editline]5th August 2012[/editline] I know that someone is going to post the chat log soon, but to sum it up, it pretty much went, "Hey is that a rocket launcher on your shoulder?" "No, no it is not!" "Oh, have a good day!"
What, in 3e? Haha no not at all.
Get better magical items.
Just accidentally shot Batman with a .357 magnum in this Fallout game.
Fuck, looks like i missed it.
At lower levels everything beats spellcasters. And asssuming the fighters and whatnot have gotten decent magical items they can usually keep up with the spellcasters somewhat in higher levels as well.
lol no the Book of Combat or whatever the fuck it's called (the one that introduces Warblades) was designed because fighters are broken, and vanilla melee classes are fucking awful, and by designed to balance im mean design to make ridiculously OP
I cant even begin to tell you all the ridiculous shit our Warblade does.
Fuck Warblades, Swordsage4lyf
that's not good rediculous btw, we're talking like "Oh i can negate all damage from that last attack using this maneuver" good thing that it fucking takes one turn to recharge, right guys? oh wait that's right melee is broken as shit if it's not UP it's OP
Get better magical items.
oh boy if the DM is feeling generous I get to maybe copy one of the wizard's powers a couple of times per day! it's not like the wizard can also get these items, right?

Can someone explain something to me, I want to make a non-common character that is level 7, and there's some shit about how the HD has a level adjustment and shit.
Starting Level of a Monster PC Monsters suitable for play have a level adjustment given in their statistics. Add a monster’s level adjustment to its Humanoids and Class Levels to get the creature’s effective character level, or ECL. Effectively, monsters with a level adjustment become multiclass character when they take class levels. A creature’s “monster class” is always a favored class, and the creature never takes XP penalties for having it.
An entry in the section on the monster (in "Planar Handbook" this race was added as a playable race):
Level adjustment: A player that has progressed through its monster class has 8 Hit Dice and a level adjustment of +6, making it effectively a 14th-level character.
The Class's leveling table:
My first time playing DnD two weeks ago involved shooting people in the anus and making a pizza, am I playing right
Does anyone know of any pathfinder actual play podcasts?
Just tried a new system "Paranoia". It's very simple and good fun.

So the race would have a total ECL of 14. So at first level in the class you planned on using, you'd be considered level 15 and would need to get enough XP to reach level 16 before you could level up. So if you're making a 7th level character you're at just over twice that with that character.
We're fighting four thugs. In one round, the first thug gets a critical failure on his first attack and his gun dies. Second thug gets a critical failure and his ammunition dies. Third thug doesn't do shit. And fourth thug gets three damned critical failures, his ammo dies, drops his gun, and an anvil falls on his head.
And before that I rolled a crit failure and lost my next turn, all because Elowin took Jinxed as a trait.
I can never find anyone to play D&D with because I'm Australian, have no friends, and all my Teamspeak pals refuse to play because I raped a couple of people in our last game and they're weirded out. FML

My guys really want me to bust out the critical spell fumbles table, but i think it causes horrible imbalance.
