Monks are awesome and you should feel bad for not allowing monks prior to this point in time.

They don't fit in with a traditional european middle ages type setting though.

Olio you can never make me feel bad after just dropping a session without telling anyone lol.
Also yeah monks don't fit nicely, the fluff and rules behind them are poor at best.
I'll look over pathfinder monks but I'm not convinced that they were "fixed"

I told someone. I also posted a message on the community board warning it was a possibility two days in advance. :P

You told me an hour late ;_; and then you didn't show up.
You played with my heart...
"OH SHIT" moment:
Me and steve charging through a BURNING forest, being chased by a devil with a wyvern and several monstrous spiders.
Suddenly, critical fail ride check.

I expected to be back around 7. Turns out my buddy went out drinking beforehand and we didn't even leave for pizza until 7:30. Sorry!

It's ok, I am just really excited to play my new character.
Or maybe I should ditch him for a monk named kenshiro.

What time Sunday?
Gonna observe a session this week, since I want to be a DM.
BUT, I want to also attempt to DM a session myself next week; I want to make it as immersive as possible, and got ambient soundtracks picked out.
What I want to know is, where would I get sound clips? Like rustling leaves, footsteps, trapdoor opening, ect? I found decent Monster sound effects and some sword sounds, but that's about it.
You can't have too much sounds, just some sounds for some encounters. Also penalize players for making monty python jokes, but first be like, alright guys, serious mode.
Like xp penalties.
XP penalties are the only thing that makes munchkins act in-character.

I'd only let a joke slide if it was perfectly landed. But XP Penalties sound good. And I am planning on having an encounter with a Purple Worm, so I grabbed a loudish tunneling sound that would fit it. But yeah, I won't go overboard with sounds, they may distract the players I think.

What time sunday / what time zones are the players?
[editline]7th February 2012[/editline]
by the way I'm asking these questions because I might run something for you guys, pending what time you thought you were playing, what time zones you five are in.

I tried using xp penalties like that once. Literally everyone threw a bitch fit about it so I had to not use them even though it worked just fine.

If they throw a bitch fit then you cross your arms and ask, "anyone else want to dm?"
If one of them says yes play a character just like they did.
At the end of the day the DM and the players have to work together, if the DM was a serious game but the players are being dicks about it for no real reason then the DM is not having fun, if the DM is not having fun there's something seriously wrong.
We make shitloads of jokes and puns in our game.
DM just sighs, asks "Are you finished?" then continues.

Their issue was that the xp penalties sucked all the fun out of the game for them. Cause apparently actually playing D&D isn't fun. It's screwing off for 95% of the time while playing D&D that is.

If they don't like your dm style then don't dm for them.
I'm not at this point. Between how rarely we've been playing lately and how tedious it is to accomplish anything I haven't been bothering to do anything with my campaign. We've been doing the other guy's campaign instead.
Me and a friend were going to start playing pathfinder and I was wondering about the money part in the character creation. Does anyone follow the roll for your starting gold or do DM's usually let the players choose starting equipment?
I'd definitely be interested in playing this. It was the shit a few years back, though playing it over the internet would be pretty boring compared to a tabletop. When do you guys usually play and do you host any 2e games (I've 3e, 3.5e, and 2e but I'd prefer 2e)?
The fuck man, I thought I took up the open spot.
You are, not sure how gleb got that spot. I copy/pasted this off of last threads op without really checking.

I'm GMT-7
No Party Hats is GMT -5
Wingboy is GMT
Cam00 prefers 8pm GMT(the time we all agreed was okay).
Someone is, something.
Someone4956, what time zone are you?
Oh well that time doesn't work for me, good luck hunting.
