Try checking here.
Would the "Red Box" beginner's set be good for just some fun at a party with friends? If not, what should I get.
Also I'm completely new to this so sorry if these questions are stupid.
at a party
No. Get drunk and play twister. D&D isn't a party game, D&D is a hobby, it's not something you can pickup and play.
If by party you mean only your nerdy friends who want to play it meet then it's not a party, it's a D&D session.
If your friends are exclusively nerds and nobody plays D&D there might be a reason, if your friends don't want
to play D&D don't play D&D with them. Get some sweet board games like Arkham Horror or even the D&D
board games.

Strip poker.
if you want something a little roleplay-ey that's still super fun at a party try Everyone Is John
Strip D&D could be good, if you want to re-roll something lose a piece of clothing.
Simple. Easy. Gross.
I only recommend this rule if you're also playing drunk D&D and your group is attractive and an even split of male + female.
Or all gay dudes.
Or all gay dudes.
Or all lesbians, or a harem, or all bisexuals, or lots of combinations of people.
An all lesbian D&D game is one of the signs of the apocalypse.

Strippers / call girls / C list models already play, why not lesbians.
I've heard a guy put it correctly: "Lots of people love geeky and nerdy stuff, they just have other shit in their life that they put their time towards, thus they're not geeks or nerds"
Has anyone here had any experience with Changeling: the Lost? I feel like I've ballsed up to a high degree with my character and approach to the game, and I think I've done the mature themes of the game a disservice in doing so.
As we've been several people looking for a pathfinder game, let's create one! Add me on steam and let's see if we can cook something up! In worst cases I'll DM, but it will be mainly pen and papper then because I'm currently on a really fucking slow internet connection.
No posts in 2 days? Huh.
Any players feel naughty when they peek at the GM books or chapters?
I'm playing my first Pathfinder campaign this weekend, I got the tank role so I went crazy and made a sword n' boarder. They actually seem quite good and fun to play as long as you follow a good build and don't simply AC whore the whole game. Does anyone know if there is any feat to keep your AC bonus from your shield even after a bash? I managed to roll 4 hp for lvl 1 so I'll have to do anything I can to stay alive until I get to lvl 2.

Since I DM, nope :P
Uh changeling has a lot of social stigma attached to it, namely the people who started playing changeling when it first came out and still play today believe they're really changelings.
Which is pretty fucked up.

Like Otherkin? I've not encountered any of that in my group, only rude trans/homo/biphobic American spectators and disappearing STs. But the game itself seems amazing, once I learn to play it right.
Otherkin are pretty hilarious, although rarely in an intentional way.

People who "spectate" games but have an inability to not talk during IC shit are not
Otherkin are pretty hilarious, although rarely in an intentional way.
Less wars have been started over the beliefs of Otherkin than other philosophies or view points. For the most part they're relatively harmless. But still they aren't the most rational of people, and a jerkface is a jerkface, Otherkin or not.
But anyway, I miss my ST :(

Heretic.
Probably to even out how bad the system is.
Can't remember who was in the party or DMing, but I never got a chance to apologize about dropping out of that D&D game a while back. Some schedule complications came up and I kept forgetting to tell you about it. (I was a goblin, I think)
EDIT: Does anyone want to start a small game on sundays (EST)? I made a spiffy and pretty simple system for roleplaying in a post-apoc fallout type deal, and I'd love to GM 3 or 4 people.

There's already a Fallout PnP ruleset (it's awesome), not sure if you were referring to it or not. I might be up for a game, depends on time zones.
I really wish I could play this game since it looks really fun (albeit really complicated), but nobody I know wants to be anywhere near it because of how nerdy it is.

Besides the fact that he said he made this system, the fact that he called it simple is a pretty dead giveaway that it is not the Fallout PnP game.

A lot of nerds are really cool people.
I am the exception that proves the rule.
[sp]And so is everyone else in this thread.[/sp]

It's funny because you need to have people with competent social skills to play a decent game. Try enticing your friends to play it, claiming to do it for shits n giggles. That's how I, and a few friends, got into it. You can learn everything by reading the rule books, then either make up a story or steal one from somewhere (you can base it on a book/game/movie), and you should be able to make a nice short session. You'll want to make it fun though, I'm assuming they won't be very serious about it so blur the rules a bit so everything is easier to manage.

That would be why I asked for clarification; why make a ruleset when a decent one already exists?

This one is based on a very DnD-like skill system instead of percentiles. Also, I wanted to make a relatively simple but in-depth system for bleeding, breaking bones and surgery.
I've been playing it with my friends in a world where the earth was destroyed and now is just a comet flinging through space.
EDIT:
Also, making systems is fun
